Holiday on the Gold Coast 2007! -- 10-09-07

Beep. Beep. Beep, rang my alarm clock at 5:15am on Wednesday 19th September. “Aww”, I groaned as my alarm clock sounded. “Sarah are you awake”, Moaned Danielle.
You may be wondering why we had to get up this early. It’s because we got booked on a really early flight to go to Australia. 6 o’clock to be exact.
I was too nervous to eat anything so I eventually decided on eating the tasty airplane food. To some of you it may taste like soap, but surprisingly I’ve got used to airplane food, mostly because of all our overseas trips, which started when I was nine months old.
5 hours later after a stop in Sydney we were heading towards our hotel in Surfers Paradise. It was my first trip to the Gold Coast, so I was very attentive to what the surroundings were like.
After a good nights sleep I awoke to the sound of a Crow, screeching away.
I was ready for a trip to Dreamworld! This was the first out of the four theme parks we decided on going to. I was so hyped up that day. As soon as we arrived inside the gates, my mum asked,”where should we go first?”
“Nick Central”, Danielle and I answered back. The first ride I went on at the Dreamworld was the Rugrats Runaway Reptar Rollercoaster. This ride was about 30 seconds at the maximum, where you seat in seats, with your legs dangling down. It was also the first rollercoaster I’d ever been on. After we had seen everything there was to see at Nick Central we went to Tiger Island. The Tigers and their Keepers/Trainers put on an amazing show showing, the tigers natural habitats and behavior. It was amazing and by the end of the show the whole audience was applauding till their hands ached. Once the show was finished we went on the River Rafting ride and the Log Flume which we got wet on both of the rides!
Then we made our way over to the massive Rollercoaster called the cyclone. I didn’t want to go on it but my Mum and Dad said they would pay me $10 if I was to go in it. After a good hour thinking about it I finally decided to have a go. The line wasn’t very long. But as we got closer to the start of the line I got more nervous, I was terrified. I sat next to my mum. The Cyclone was full of twists, loops, drops and turns, something my stomach did not like. But I went through with it, and I was so proud of myself!
The next day we decided to go to Movie World! As soon as we entered the giant gates I knew that I’d like this theme park. We were the pretty early so Danielle and I immediately wanted to go to the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. I was asking Danielle heaps of questions while we were waiting in line for the ride. She had been to Movie World before and been on most of the rides. But Danielle wouldn’t tell me because it would ruin the surprise! It turned out to be awesome, you even go backwards. Danielle and I were screaming the whole time just for fun. As soon as that ride was over Danielle recommended going on the Wild Wild West. It was a log flume but better. The last part of the ride before you get off is a massive drop, which makes a huge splash. After that we went to the Loony Tunes kid’s park. We went on a boring as ride at first. But while the line was short for the Road Runner Rollercoaster we jumped in the line. Danielle and I ended up going on at least 6 times one after another. We also went on the awesome Shrek 4-D adventure. We also went to this great stunt show. It was so cool and in one bit there was a massive ball of fire and you could fell the heat all the way from the back! Then we had our yummy lunch. Later we hopped in line for the Batman Simulator ride. It was cool. You actually felt like you were part of what was going on, instead of just sitting there. My Dad wanted to go on the Super Man Escape ride and so did Danielle, but she was too short. We waited for half an hour for my Dad to come out. We saw him and he looked like he had enjoyed himself, he had a smile from ear to ear. Then we went home to our apartment.
On Saturday we went to Sea World. We were there really early so we went over to the Corkscrew Coaster. Danielle needed her shoes. I tried to throw them up to her but it didn’t work, I eventually did one almighty throw and they went over her head and onto a railway track at Sea World. Eventually a man came and took her shoe of the railway track. A dolphin show was on at around 11:30 so after the rollercoaster we went to get seats. The Dolphin show was amazing. They did neat as tricks without being forced to do them. We also went to two other shows called Water Ski Wipeout and Fish detectives, but they both were really American and Corny. Later when the sky was turning gray my Dad, Danielle and I went on two rides, the Log Flume, which was really boring and a cool as one called the Bermuda Triangle. As we got of the Bermuda Triangle it started to pour down with rain so we left.
On Sunday we went to the Carara markets. I got a few things from there and in the afternoon we had a swim in the Resort pool.
The next day we went to Wet’n’Wild. It was a hot and sunny day, which was really good. We went on heaps of Water rides but my favorite ride was the Mammoth falls. You climbed up heaps of stairs, and then you go down a Massive slide in a big ring.
On Tuesday we just chilled out and went to the shops. I brought a really cool T-shirt and we had a Baskin Robins ice cream. We had a relaxing swim in the resort pool to.
On Wednesday we went back to New Zealand and arrived at 11:00!
That was my holiday on the Gold Coast!

Room 2's Assembly item -- 08-30-07

On Friday 24th August the whole of St Thomas's school and parents crammed into our school hall to watch Room 2's assembly item.

It all started when I was away sick but I soon caught up on what they where talking about.
Our class had all decided that our assembly item would be about Dancing with the Stars. It was a great idea and everybody couldn't wait to get started on it.

The first step once we had decided, was to storybord our ideas. This way Mrs Kelso could get some ideas to write a script. We were all really impressed with the script and thought it would be awsome to perform the script. So we got sterted. We needed so many props that we had to do a brainstorm.

The following Wednesday we started making some props, like the stars and the banners. Then people started getting any costumes we needed.

But the most exciting part was when we practised. Once we polished our performance up was time to perform in front of the whole school. It all went so well and the whole of room 2 enjoyed it. We involved the whole audience so once the assembly was over all the teachers were clapping for Mrs Kelso in the staff room. We also had a shared lunch which was great!!

For homework this week we had to write a evelauation thing about our speech.

I was the last to do my speech because I had been off school.

When it came to my turn I wasn't nervous at all. I stood up in front of the class and gave my speech. I was tring my hardests to jiggle around will I was presenting my speech. Everything went well!

Since I was last I got to find out if I was in the syndicate final on that same day and guess what I made it in along with my friend Brittany!

Are you having fun these holidays?
I am. I have been occupied everyday. I have seen 4 movies so far. Bridge to Terabithia, Nancy Drew, Blades of Glory and Harry Potter and the order of the Phionix. I have also been to the hot pools, Rock climbing, to a theme park, to a fair and so much more. At the moment I have been reading:TG and Crem(mags). Computer: websites. TV: Home and Away and Full House.

Last Sunday My Dad and I went to see Bridge to Terabithia. It is such a good movie. My favourite Charecter is Leslie.There are a couple of scary parts and a very sad parts but other than that it is a fantastic and Exciting movie.
It is also filmd in New Zealand so if you live here or have been here you may recconise some NZ land marks.

Paris Hilton got released from jail only three days after she went into jail. Paris was put on home detition. Paris had a ankel braclet that was a tracking device to make sure she stayed in her house. She was said to be crying all night, not eating and not sleeping. Her Psychiatric said Paris would have a mental breakdown if she was keepet in Jail.
The Judge at her hearing said she was to serve the full time in prison and said she was not to be put on home detition.

What do you think of Paris and her jail sentance?

Is school cool or is it not cool??????
Some days when you wake up in the morning you tend to want to sleep in and pretend your sick because you know you have something on in class the you really want to miss. Well I have a solution........
1: If it is a test that you haven't studied for think positive like you have studied and everyone else hasn't, think that your going to get top marks and so on so forth.

2: If you don't want to wake up in the morning try going to bed earlier at night.

3: If you know your going to have the worst day of your life talk to your teacher about it and she may be able to go a little easy on you.

Solid Energy has got a company, Thompson and Clark Investigations to send a spy to the 'SAVE HAPPY VALLEY PROTEST GROUP'. The spy was to get a inside look at what was going in in the orginisation. He was also told to keep a eye on the Happy Valley orginisation. The Happy Valley group had been losing money for Solid Energy because of their protesting. Some Protesting they did was: Stopping trains on railway tracks, Starting fights in the public,etc.

On 22 May 2007 our class(room 2) did some fun art. What we did was listened to some music from a DVD that Mrs Kelso had. The band was called TE VAKA. They were very very good. I didn't like the music video as much a listning to the song and creating my own pictures with the song. Most people had the image of palm trees and beaches and Tropicle things, but I had a image of a lion on top of a rock roaring it's head as if standing tall and proud. It was fun because after we listened to the music, we got to put our ideas on paper and paint them. Heaps of people liked my picture of a lion.That was the funnist art activity yet.

What type of music do you like????
I like Fergie, Avril Livin, Nelly Furtardo, Black Eyed Peas, and More. I don't have a Ipod or a flash phone. Just a Walkman(new model), MP3 and a CD player. In the add breaks of HOME AND AWAY I flick channels to C4 or Juice TV. I prefer to buy CDS or Singels rater than burn or download Songs. Sarah
