1. Has your digital writing improved? How?

My digital writing has improved because recently we learned that there is more to writing than just words. You need to show your reader this too. I learned this from the artical Snow Fall. The author showed me that we need to include more things with our writing like videos, pictures, graphics, slide shows, and so much more. So since I have read that artical I have tried my best to include more than just writing in it.

2. How many red dots did you get? Any cool places visit you?

I don't have that many dots. I only have 7. Most of them are from the United States except there is one that is in Canada.

3. What assignments in class helped you learn the most? Which ones were least successful?

This year the assignments that I think helped me the most were the Snow Fall test and the Computer Design Project. I think these were the best assignments because the Snow Fall test taught me about the Digital Age and how much it expanded throughout the years and how now much more is included in writing than just words and pictures. The Project helped me because in a way it taught me a lot about reality. It shows you how hard it can be to design a classroom best suited for students. You have to worry about costs, making sure that you get all the equipment, making sure its not too comfortable that kids are falling asleep, and even presentation to try and sell your idea. I learned that there is a lot more to things than you realize by doing these assignments.

The assignment that I think was the least effective was the meograph. I think that it was completley pointless and that there was really nothing to it. I think it's a useless website. I mean why do we need to create a map of everywhere we went for this class. It would probably be cool if you went on a cross country trip or something and you want to show everywhere you went, but other than that i think for this class there was no point for it.

Change of Writing in Digital Age -- 01-03-13

Advancing into the digital age a lot of things have changed, especially writing. Now a days most writing is being done typed out on a computer. But now, things have advanced even more than that. People are now adding even more to articles than just text and a simple picture. They are now adding videos, slideshows, graphics, and even sound.
With all of these new changes in technology, writing has changed substantially. For example, in the article "Snow Fall", the author included such a great mix of video, text, graphics, and audio. With these things added into his article it made it that much more moving. It added that extra emotion to it that pushed this article so people would be interested in it. It it wasn't for all of the extra things that the author put into his article I would have taken on look at it and been like, "this looks to boring to read" and I would have just closed out the article. Even with the heading of this article with the animated background made it that much more interesting to get into it.
I feel that with the way that the digital age is advancing, this is a great way for writing to advance with it, without making it too much.

Presentation: 35pts

Mr. Schneider told us that we shouldnt be reading off of our slides and he told us we should have as little as possible on it. So on our slides we put our picture and what it was and at the end we put our budget.

Memo: 30pts

On our memo , Mr. Schneider told us to be more specific on what we wrote. We changed everything we thought we had to change and what he told us to after the rough draft.

Spreadsheet: 20pts

Our spreadsheet has everything that we would purchase for project like the computers, tablets, furniture, ext. We even included the final price of everything.

Drawing/Blogging: 10pts

On our drawing of what we planed the computer classroom to look like, we layed everything out so it would be fun and comfortable.

What I learned from this project is that creating a computer lab can be tough because you have to find something that everyone one would like. Even after we presented we found things that we could have changed on our powerpoint to make it better.

In class today we started a new project where we have to design a computer lab. We take our class room and take everything out of it except the walls, lights, and the floor. We have a $50,000 budget. We need to have 25 computers, budget for software, chairs, tables, printers, wifi, ext.

Today, we bought a lot of our stuff but we still have a lot to go. We bought the things that we thought had the best deals. Right now our total is almost $16,000.

Doodle Buddy is an app on iPad's where you can draw/create anything you want. This app was made by Pinger Inc. This app can be played on an iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 3.0 or later. All reviews are giving this app 4 or 5 stars.

This is a really good doodling app. You can insert picture or other backgounds and doodle on them. You can even play mini games on it like tic-tac-toe, hangman, or even a maze. There are so many different things that you can do with this app you will spend hours on it without even knowing and its just a doodle app. THis app is fun and there are so many different things that you can do on it you should defiently download this app and try it out for yourselves. It doesn't even matter what age you are because this app is fun for everyone.

This app is free unless you want it with no advertisments then its going to be $0.99.

Today I made a Meograph. Its where you make a video about important events. It could be about your life, game schedules, etc. You should check out My Meograph. I did it about The Mumford and Sons Concerts that are coming up in February 2013. This project wasn't even that hard, all you have to do it put in the event and then add a photo or video to it and you done. You should check it out, you might like it.

Standardize Testing?? -- 11-14-12

A Freshman in college Ankur Singh decided to write an article telling us about his problems about standardize testing and how it led to what he is doing now. He has decided to take a semester off of college so he can travel around the country getting students opinions and points of views and is going to make his own movie showing these. While doing this he's asking questions like: How does it affect their love of learning? How does it affect their self-esteem? What if what they’re truly passionate about isn’t measured by a standardized test?.

In my opinion in a way I kind of like what he is doing here. He is getting our point of view (the students) on how these test affect us. he wants us to have a say in what we do in school. How it shouldn't be a "political" thing it should be what helps us best with our learning. We should be expanding our knowledge in school with a way we decide. We should not have to take a standardize test that wont help us at all. As Ankur says "I don’t want to make this movie political. Because the issue here is so much more than standardized testing and accountability, it’s about our livelihoods".

Halloween is a fun time of year for all ages. But in my opinion if you are older than 15 or 16 then I think you are to old to be trick-or-treating. You should go out and start a new tradition with your friends. You can sit home watch horror movies and hand out candy or you can have a halloween party. Come up with something fun and just do it, don't go trick-or-treating and take the candy away from the kids who's time it is to be trick-or-treating.

Every time that we have a class we do a Google a Day. It's where it gives you a question and you have to find out the answer and it times you. We use to keep score by every time just writing down the time it took us to find an answer, but now Google a Day has changed. Now it gives you 3 questions a nd 3 different levels. The first one gives you 5 points, the second gives you 10, and the third gives you 15 points. These points are then added to your google plus account. I have also found that with google plus you can create circles and add friends or family to the circles. With these circles you can add the people to games so you can play with them and other things.The badges are a way to link websites to eachother. I think that you should try playing google a day and check out google plus it might end up being something fun for you to do.

Piano Dust Buster - This iPad app is a really fun way to learn how to play the piano. Not only are you trying to clean away the dust busters but you get to learn new songs! As you play this app the difficulty gets harder as you go on. The farther you go the more songs you unlock. I think that this is a good educational app and its also fun to play.Check is out. Skitch - In my opinion i think that this app is so cool. You can take a picture from your iPad gallery or even from the web and you can draw on it. Until today i never knew you could do this with Google. On Google there is this skills page that lists a ton of different things like stocks or the weather and all you have to do is type in the name of a stock or the location you are located at for weather and hit enter and all your info comes up. In this video it shows the old and new techniques of origami. This guy Robert Lang was talking about how in the 1700's origami used to be everything. Every person had to learn how to make them and that is what they played with. But in the 1900's a guy came around named Yoshizawa and he created hundreds of different kinds of origami and Robert was saying how he created a new language. I think that origami has changed because now people have a better perspective of things and they created new ways and more complicated ways of showing it. In this video it was about a guy David Blaine who was trying to come up with all of these different ways so he can hold his breath under water and beat the world record. So the question is, Is he crazy, or is he determined? In my opinion, in the beginning of this video i thought that he was crazy for trying all of these different things so he can hold his breath. But, as he got more into it is got more interesting and all it showed was that this guy is determined to hold his breath. So at the end of the video he ended up beating the world record and holding his breath under water for over 17 minutes. So i think that this guy was just determined to beat the world record. In this video there was a guy keith who can do things with his mind like see through other peoples eyes while he is blind folded and he can break almost unbreakable glass. But, the question in how does brain magic differ from regular magic. Well i think that brain magic is when you use your mind to break things or see through other peoples eyes and regular magic is where you can do almost anything like make things move or something. Also if i had to get better on somethings with fireworks it would be everything because there is always something new that you can learn and something you can always get better at. And for coding there are somethings that i would like to learn on how to make the website better and give it better affects.

Just because teens send hundreds of texts a day doesn’t mean we have a need for attention. It is just so we can talk to our friends when we are bored and there is nothing better to do. We just like to know that there is someone listening to what we are saying and have a reply back. Texting is just a way of talking which everyone needs in their life. Everyone even adults need that friend who will listen to you, but just instead of calling now we send texts.

Pajamas and slippers for school? I dont think that should be aloud. Already everyday there is always a kid in class that's falling asleep. So why would you want to make things even more comfortable so they would be more likely to fall asleep in class and that would mean not paying attention to what that teacher is saying and then you fall behind because you have no idea of what is going on. So no i dont think that pajamas should be worn in school unless there is that one day that you are allowed to wear pj's for a day.

1.In my opinion I don’t think that the Jansen creatures are alive. I believe this because they are just a creation made out of pipes it’s like a robot without all the metal and electronics in it. The Jansen creatures just work of energy. Life is where something is living and breathing and producing energy like oxygen like trees and plants. It something that produces life in a form. It should feel in some sort of way which the Jansen creatures don’t have.
2.The 3rD World Farming was teaching you how life is for a third world farmer. It shows you the things that they suffer and the things that they gain. An example is they can lose crop from a dry season or have things stolen or burned down. Something’s they gain every once in a while they gain money for planting a crop for someone or something. It worked by having us buy crops and live stock after each season it would give us how much we made sometimes you can make a lot and sometimes you would make nothing depending on the season and what happens.
3.The 3D Architecture is a game that gives you the option of creating a home for someone based on what they want whether it’s a room where it’s quite and has a big area to write to someone who wants an exercise room with a ton of exercise equipment in it. This game shows you the different possibilities that you can have while creating a home. It also teaches us how to design a home and how architects in a way do it.
4.In a way I do think that games help us learn the way the world works and it shows us what people like farmers and architects go through when they are working it helps us have a new perspective on things. It teaches us the way that people live and how they are affected by these things.

The web usability is how well you are able to access the website is it fast or slow, is it easy to understand, and is it easy to use.

1.Out of the four disabilities visual, motor, cognitive, hearing. I think the one with the greatest challenge on the internet would be the people the motor skills one because to use the computer you need to be able to reach for the mouse and move it around and then you need to type on a keyboard. So I think this disability is the hardest to use because they aren’t able to move around as much even though they do have that eye moving software it doesn’t mean that it works all that great and it is probably really expensive.
2.Three ways that a web designer can make a less frustrating website for people with disabilities is by making the website easy to access, adding it so people can listen to what the words on the page read, and the last thing would be to if you have any videos on the page to make it have captions for people who can’t hear. By making the website easy to access I mean to make it so it’s simple and easier to get to than those sites that have so much on it. Then you need to make it so people who are blind can hear everything they click on or hover over. Then the last thing is to make sure that anything that has sound has captions on it or underneath it for people who can’t hear.
3.With trying to get to a link without using the mouse it definitely frustrating because the way that I do it is I use that tab button and that goes through every single link on the page until you get to the link that you want. But, it didn’t really change my experience because all the time I use the keyboard to get to things instead of the mouse for example like when my mouse freezes on my computer.
4.I think that our obligation to help those with disabilities is to make it so websites are easy to access for them by adding the captions to videos, making the website not so complicated so that people with disabilities use it easier, and add more ways so you can hear what’s going on in the website.

Dear Mrs. Goodrich,
When people visit our school website they see three colors blue, yellow, and white: our school colors, so those colors attract all school students. I feel like our website is easy to use when you are trying to get to common things like your classes and the calendar but some things like other teachers are kind of hard to get to like when you want to find the principals number. But other than that our website is fairly easy to use. When students visit our school website things are easy to get too compared to other schools like the Science Leadership Academy where everything is blurred together in way and it’s hard to get to things like to teachers or classes. When compared to other websites our website attracts all students because its school color and because it is easy to follow on most common things.
