The end of the year -- 05-15-12

I can hardly believe that 7th grade is over!! It has been a fascinating year for me, and even an interesting year. I have only spent one half of seventh grade here at Mountain Ridge, so I have missed out on a lot!! As for how great this year was, I think the word would be challenging. I have been home-schooled my entire life, and 7th grade was my first year in public school, so it has been difficult at times. What was really successful for me was just getting through the year. I am, if I can say, impressed with myself for getting through my very first year, and I am definitely looking forward to 8th grade, along with the new challenges. What didn’t really work out this year was the schools. For the first half of 7th grade, I went to Timberview, so moving schools in the middle of the year was a big downer. Also, on top of moving schools, I moved houses. So during, about my first two weeks of 3rd quarter, I was unpacking boxes when I came home, and that made it all the worse. It was definitely my worst month in my entire life!!
I have academically learned was mostly in math and Language arts. In math, I have learned how the find rules, how to do square roots, and how to find area and perimeters of circles. In language arts, I have learned the importance of poems and folk tales. I have also learned about the joys of blogging, which is the most fun I have ever had in school. I have also learned a great deal of information in Spanish. I have learned how to conjugate verbs, the secrets to adjectives, and how to say more than “I am”. This school has given me new information I have never known.
Personally, I have learned how to deal with people, teachers, the art of changing in gym, and how to deal with best friends. I have also learned how to quickly get my work done so I can read, even when I am paying attention. I have grown personally and spiritually in school alone, and I believe it is very good for me.
If I could change anything about school, I wouldn’t. I think school was perfect the way it is. I know it can be a bit challenging sometimes, but it was an amazing experience to be a part of, and I’m glad I was here to take it all in.
I have learned everything the hard way, from doing homework, to dealing with gossip, and even crushes. I regret a lot of the things I have done in school, but I do think it was good all the stupid and bad stuff happened to me, because it has made me a better person.
If I had the chance to change the way things went in 8th grade, I wouldn’t. Again, I love how the year has folded itself out, and I’m glad that 8th grade is soon to come for me to learn my lessons all over again.
To all the 7th graders to come, I have to tell you one thing. Keep on going. Even though life can get hard sometimes, keep going on with your life. The homework, teachers, and rumors might feel like they kill you, you have to keep going on with your life. Just calm down and take it step-by-step. I promise you, enjoy 7th grade while you have it, because 8th grade is going to be a heck of a lot harder.

I-Towne -- 05-09-12

I thought the whol experience was so interesing. I have never done anything like that before, so I really liked it. I learned that it is very important to keep track of money, and to use it wisely. I thought the best part was the bus ride, to be honest. I loved it how the bus driver played music all the way there, and back. I thought that was really cool. One thing I would change are the break times. I didn't have enough time to do alot, so I would make break times a little longer. Also, I thought some people were really bored, like the presidents and finance ministers had nothing to do. Overall, it was a pretty good experience.

World History Fair -- 05-02-12

I think the world history fair influences our lives today because it gets young folks of the day and age studying the past, and for us to get to know how people did stuff back in the ancient times. My guiding question was: Why did the ancient Chinese invent the magnetic compass? I learned a lot, especially that kids like to touch gel stuff on my 3-D project. It got annoying. I pretty much know all there is to know about the magnetic compass, so just ask me anything, (if you care). The most interesting part for me was the whole experience and finding out what other students were learning and building. I found out that ancient food isn’t all that great. Also, that some kids are big slackers. I had a fun time with the whole thing.

Part 2: I have learned a many things during the world History fair. Some of the things I have learned is that cats in China were a good thing. I have learned that what each person wore back then, told a story. Clothes were hard to make back then, and paper dragons also told a story about china. The students have spent a while working on all of their projects, and I was very impressed about how some looked. I think this was a very good experience for me, and for the other students.

SeedFolk... -- 04-25-12

I am already almost done with Seedfolk, and I hate it!!!!!! It is the most boring book in the world!!! I really don't care about a little garden in a musty city. That's my opinion, but you might think otherwise. In drama, we are doing little skit acting things, and Mrs. G-S is reading from seedfolk for us to act out. I guess thats ok. That's all we've done so far in all my classes about seedfolk. I am so glad it is a short book though, so it doesn't take to long to read. I think the big idea is about a garden. Also, how people cope with their lives with the garden. I can't wait to finish it so I don't have to read it anymore!!!!!

I thought the activities were interesting. I mean, I'm not used to painting rocks and making flowers out of soda cans, but thay were cool!! My favorite was definatly getting to make the flowers. I thought that wass creative and, well, just weird. I have never heard of that.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 9pt">All I really have left to do is my display board, though I haven't gotten started yet. The research was..... Well, it was research. I do have a few questions for Mrs. Gagnon, though. I do look forward to May 1st, the presentation day. I think it will be kind of fun for people to see what all I have learned. My topic is, now I know it's silly, the magnetic compass. At the time, when we got started on the project, I didn't really know anything; sense I was new to the school. So I just searched early inventions, and the compass popped up, so I just did it. But now, I wish I had done the Trojan horse or something like that. I really wish to get a good grade on all these assignments!!

I really hope to be doing more horseback riding over the summer, when I'm not glued in front of the TV!! I, fortunatly, have grown up with a mom that use to teach horse riding, so "I" have a saddle, two accualy, blankets, every thing. I also live 10 minuets away from a horse barn on the Air Force Academy, so I pretty much get to go when ever I want!! Well, when my mom wants to go. (I'm not allowed to go by my self ) I really hope to get out to the barn a whole lot more then what I have been doing. Horse back riding is my life, and I hope to grow mentaly and phisicly in my passion for getting up in the morning!

We did! It was kinda gross. I thought I was sorta worth while, yet I was disgusted! This was the first time I have ever dissected anything, and it was.......ok. It definatly not my favorite part of science, bit I kind of look forward to more dissections!! Especially the frog! I learned that chickens only smell good when in the oven. I learned a little about tendons and muscles in the process. I look forward to more.

Yes, 'tis true, we are going over cells in science. Even though I went over cells in my old school, I still have learned a couple things, and have refreshed my memory about many things. The worst part about all this is going over this stuff AGAIN. The best part is, the teacher is coming at it a different way than my old science teacher, so I get a new perspective on all this. We have learned about Osmosis and diffusion. We have done a couple labs concerning that subject, like our "egg-speriment!!", involving different eggs in different solutions. I look forward to doing more labs and rejuvenate my mind on cells and their ways.

I am only reading the first of the trilogy because the author herself is coming to talk to ME!!!! (and my book club) but that doesn’t matter. I am going to buy the first book from her, she’s gonna sign it, and in 30 years it will be worth a lot of money, like$50!!! It is about a girl in Italy who comes across an ancient tomb and discovers herself in Ancient Italy. I am also starting to read a book called The Looking Glass Wars for my book club….. Its sorta like Alice and Wonderland. Anyway, Waterfall is turning out to be a very creative book, and I’m loving it so far.

Poet -- 01-23-12

I believe the "tools" that good poets use are just using the right words to describe a situation. In the poem I'm learning, Henry Longfellow uses a lot of similes and resemblances of the situation. Because of this, I can picture the scene in my head and all the right details of people, things, and ideas. To write with a picture in your head also helps the readers to picture it. I think just using the right words and pictures in your mind help you put together a very good poem.

#5 by Martin Luther King Jr. -- 01-17-12

I believe that this statement,"Love is the olny force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend" Marten Luther King Jr. means the only thing able to turn your enemy to a friend is to show them love and show you care. The way I would bring this into my life would be to just show love to the people I want to punch. It would make a VERY big change in my life. I believe that it would make at least a small impact on other peoples life if I am nice to every one. It might make them not hate me even!! To make an impact on the world, I would have to work hard and not hate people. If people saw I was so nice, it might influence them to be nice and so on. I would love to make a very big impact like that.

My 2012 Goals -- 01-10-12

2012 is going to be an exiting year for me, with a new school and such. My goals would range from getting better grades, to begging my mom to get me horse riding lessons again. I have very simple goals that might not be good to you, but are VERY important to me.

My grades have never been the best, or what I know I can do. I’ve never liked studying, though no one probably does. Setting a goal to get better grades, for me, will have to be learning to pay attention a lot more often, and getting use to the fact that I am not in my old school. Grades are the one place my sister has been a master at, but for me it’s just something to keep you working. This year, I plan to get a lot better grades in ALL my classes.

Getting horse riding lessons would be another goal I really want to achieve. I use to take riding lessons, but we got into school and then moved, so it’s been kind of hard for me to go to a barn every Saturday, with homework and all. From the first time I got on a horse, I fell in love, and to this day I still am. I have all the equipment I need, but not a horse. Riding a horse, to me, would be like a squirrel finding his nuts. Riding a horse is like flying, almost. With the reins in my hand, I feel I can do anything in the whole entire earth. When we canter as fast as horse-ly possible, I don’t think. All I care about is me, the horse, and staying on it. Riding is my dream, my passion, and I really want to reach the goal of getting a new barn
