HI THERE I just got back from a summer road trip here is a list of places I went to.

1. our first stop was yellowstone park ( no yogi isn`t there thats jellystone ) home to over 500 geysers i saw mammoth hot springs, mud pots and OLD FAITHFUL erupt it was hot and humid there too about 113 degrees f.

2. our next stop was the little bighorn battle feild in montana it was a battle against the U.S. army and the nakota, lakota, and dakota native americans there was markers on where they fell in the battle.

3. then we went to south dakota and went to the black hills we went on a tour bus and saw were they film daces with wolves then got on the bus to see mt rushmore my grampa told me that on the back there was four guys bending down with there heads in the moutain then we stop for lunch and they had buffalo stew it was so good then we saw crazy horse monument ( it`s not a acutal horse it`s a native american named crazy horse ) they didn`t finished carving yet but still fun I got a ring from the black hills gold.

FUN FACT mt st helens eruption was how sciencetist learn how the black hills was formed.

4. next we saw devils tower wich looks alot like a giant petrified tree stump it was really strange how it looked. thats were i got a book about the black hills.

5. then we went to the last sod house in south dakota there was alot of prairie dogs there and 2 miniture horses a goat and some chickens too.

6. then went to de smet sd. and walnut grove mn. homes to LAURA INGALLS WILDER my favorate auther and im related to her too.

7. next we saw the judy garland museam and birth place ( thats the actress who played dorthy in the wizard of oz in 1939)

8. then we went to wisconson to see my uncle in makana it`s a really samll town it`s gas station ,store, and post offace is in the same building. Just don`t blink

9. and wile we were in south dakota we stop at the bad lands and there not so bad either.

10. then saw a 50,000 silver dollar bar in montana there was MT ST HELENS emrald jewery.

11. and in the pan handle in idaho we saw a town called wallace were they filmed a movie called dante`s peak the moutain doesn`t even exist.

FYI wisconson has the BEST CHEESE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

without friction we would not stop something untile it crashes into something else. without friction the earth will be a gaint ball of ice. without friction ... well I`m pretty sure you get the point friction is pretty importrtant. friction is a force like gravity we lerned how friction works by slideing a wooden block across the surface of waxpaper, tabletop, papertowle, fine sandpaper, and corse sandpaper. thats in 6.1 in 6.2 we mesured friction on one surface and in 6.3 we made more friction by stacking one block on top another.

Caramel apple dessert pizza -- 04-26-12

You will need

1 roll of refrigerated sugar cookie dough

1 8 ounce of softend cream cheese

1/2 cup of peanut butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tbl. milk

2 or 3 apples

lemon juice

caramel sauce

How to make it

wash your hands and press cookie dough in a greased 12 in. pizza pan and bake at 350 degree oven for 15-20 min. and let cool. in a bowl mix peanut butter brown sugar cream cheese and milk until smooth and use rubber spatula to spread on cookie crust. cut apples in thin sliceses and toss in loemon juice to keep from turning brown and put on top of mixture. and finish by drizzleing caramel sauce.

Force is all around us like elastic, fricton, gravity, push, pull, lift, and thrust. without Force we would be floating in midair unable to move anything elastic force helps things strech like a spring or rubber band gravity keeps us from floating away and without it we would weigh nothing.

K. I know that batteries are rechageable, can be really big enough for cars, smaller than a dime for hearing aids, and has to be a compleate curcit in order to work.

W. what I want to to learn is why there is a positive and negitive sides, why do they die, and why are some batteries rechargeable.

L. And I learned that the shorter you charge them the shorter it last and the longer you charge them the longer it last.

I live in port ludlow, wa. and go to chimacum middle school. I live next to a gully and a little creek in the gully. I love washington it has trees, apples, and volcanoes like mount st. helens. It`s also a great place to go camping. and there is beatiful lakes too like wildcat lake. Washington the evergreen state :).

Charging a battery -- 03-22-12

When a battery gets charged all the stuff inside of it is getting energy. And then the battery stored the electricity inside of it. And then we hook it up to the curcits with the light bulb and it lasted for 3 min. and 7 sec. But when we hook it up with the moter it lasted for only a minute. And it turns out that the light bulb lasted longer than the moter because th moter uses twice as more energy.

You will need...

1. a pair of goggles (safety first)
2. 1 blotter paper strip
3. 1 zinc strip
4. 1 copper strip
5. a clear plastic container
6. 1 grian of wheat lightbulb with wire leads
7. copper sulfate soulution
8. paper towels
9. tape

1. lay copper on blotter paperon one side and zinc on the other

2.keep together tie a rubber band at the bottom

3. bend the zinc and copper strips

4. attach the lightbulb with the wires

5. soak in half a cup of copper sulfate solution

6. put it on the paper towel

then after that the light bulb lits up.

Water Quality Jobs -- 02-29-12

There are seven water quality jobs. Those jobs are D.O., PH, Turbidity, Ammoia, Flow Rate, Nirates, and Temperture.

D.O.(disolve oxengen):It helps fish and other living organisms in the water. If the levels too high or too low it might be polluted.

PH: PH stands for positive hidgrogen it`s good if the positive hidrogen levels are low if it`s too high then the water might be polluted.

Nritrates: nitrates are molcules that are one part nigrogon and three parts oxengen 75% of our air is nitrates it`s also good for the water quality too but at lease over 0.2 if it1s over it`s bad.

Turbidty: turbidity shows how murky the water is. if it`s too murky than the water has alot of dirt, sand, and all other stuff in the water. the murkier it is the more pollutated the water is; it`s best if it`s clear.

Ammonia: Ammonia is a clear colorless foul smelling substance that can kill all the liveing things in the water wich is bad. If it`s levels are 0.6 or 0.8 then it will cause all the fish will die.

Flow Rate: Flow Rate is to find out how fast the water is in creeks. it`s best if the flow rate is slow because if the water is ruuning fast then the baby fishies will have a difficlt time swimming up the stream and the could die.

Temperture: temperture or temp. for short. I`ts to tell how warm the water is. The fish like salmon and trout perfer cold water. if ot`s warmer then they could die. the average temperture is 27 degrees c ( 31.13 degrees f)

Now you know how we figure out if the water is polluted or not. :-)

Have you ever heard of water quality? Water Quatlity is all the stuff thats in the water and water quality jobs is when you test the water to see if it`s polluted or bad for fish. My water quality job is Temp.(temperture) like if it`s too hot the eggs in the water is not gonna hach and if it`s too cold the eggs will freeze. Ether way the egg would die. Also fish need a different Temp. because there cold blooded(that means there body temperture changes to the same temp. to the habitat.) most fish like salmon will want cold water. And because of global warming the temperture of the water is riseing not just the land. Remember 75% of the earth is water and 1% is drinkable and use for everyday chores. So please take care of our planets water and please don`t drink the water if it`s not clean trust me.

Tree Planting -- 01-27-12

Yesturday after lunch we went to a creek to plant trees and shrubs. It was really fun . SO FUN that I was tired out from all of the fun planting . And I would like to say thanks to Jac, Alina, and all other volonteers for letting us plant trees .

Salmon life cycle -- 11-29-11

The salmon life cycle starts when the salmon spond which is when the salmon lays eggs in a rocky creek or river. Then the eggs hached and go into the ocean. Next they grow into aldults and go back to the stream. Then they lay there eggs and when they go back to the ocean and die.

One day we got samples of creek water at Chimacum creek and we found lots of little macros (bugs) in them. And each kinds of bug is diffrent to the water and compared from yellow jacket creek at Cispus it`s score is 21 compared to 25 wich isn`t that bad because our creek is not that polluted. :)

The water cycle is how the water works. It goes from the eath to the sky and back to the eath again. It all starts when it gets warm and water turns into gas that you cant see this is called evaporation and thats why there are clouds wich is a group of water vapor. Another way that water evaporates is when water from plants comes out of leaves and into vapor this is called transporation. then when the clouds get hevy it rains this is called precipitation. then it starts all over again.

Water pollution is when water gets contamonatied with chemicals, sewers, and hazadous waste. We need water for drinking, washing, and irrigating crops. Water is also the most important resorces in the world. Without water we would die in a few days. We could stop water pollution by disposing hazadous waste propurly and saveing water in your house.

Mt. St. Helens a strato vocanoe erupted on May 18th 1980 with the power of a atomic bomb. But in October 2004 it caused a steam eruption and studies say that the crater-shaped moutain is growing. And the animals such as gophers are coming back. And plants are growing in through the rich volcanic soil life is coming back to the area .
