When I added more batteries to our teams circuit, the more washers it could lift.
My hypothesis was correct because 1 battery lifted 1 washer, 2 batteries lifted 4 washers and 3 batteries lifted5 washers. something would change is going slower so the washers don't fly off amd hit you in the face. I liked doing series because the washers lifted up faster!

I have written 27 blogs total! (28 including this one)
22 are school based about what I have learned and 7 are like blog challenge ones.
I have received 19 comments but most of them are my own. Hahahaha!

What did I learn about 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3 in lab?
Friction. I learned you can change many variables. You can change the surface type, area, and the weight.
In 6.1 we changed the surface type. It changes a lot! It had friction because there was contact of the block and the different surface types.
In 6.2 we changed the weight by adding more blocks.it changed by very little.
In 6.3 we changed what way the block was placed. It didn't change at all. Because the weight of the block and the surface type never changed.
Friction is really cool!

What I learned for force! -- 05-11-12

We measure force by using scales using the newtons side. Friction is like when you rub 2 things together. For example like 2 sticks, or writing!
Variables are a big part. Variables you can change are the surface type, weight, and the surface area.
If you slid it on a ice cube it would be slippery so it would stop right away.
Friction is really cool!

Listening to iPods should be aloud at all times. Sometimes music makes people focus better on their work. Some kids love music. Some kids are FINISHED with their work and shoul be aloud to listen to music! Listening to iPods helps me learn because music is my life.

Do pull a cart across the floor you can take a rubber band and tie it on the cart, pull it back, and let go! Pulling rubber band and letting go is a lot of force.
Weight is dependent on gravity and mass is dependednt on weight. So in conclusion, i learned weight is how much gravity forces down on you and mass is what something is made of.
I leared elastic force!

I learned that we use a lot of energy in 2010 now that we play video games go on facebook. We have microwaves ovens... We have a lot! Insilation Conserves insilition inside. It collects energy so its warmer inside. To be safe from energy you should stick things in outlets, have things plugged in when your not using them, dont put things on top of cords and have things near electrical wires. Trees give us less carbon then everything. Houses usemost carbon.

I learned thst batterys store chemical energy. When you recharge battery energy enters the battery. Energy makes a lot of things work. An example of a rechargable battery is your ipod battery.

The battery was dead so we rechardged it energy went from the outlet through the wires to th battery. When the battery was charged we connected it to a lightbulb/battery. The motor takes more energy. The battery stores chemical energy to make things work.

So i live in chimacum and go to chimacum school. It rains a lot. There are a lot of trees and its a fun place to be. There is a gas station with a food mart (templetons) and Chimacum Cafe and cenex. I like it here. There are lots of friendly people!

For water quality we learned about microinvertebrates. Then we learned about the salmon life cycle.then we learmed about chimacum creek and water quality.
In microinvertebrates I learned that there in our creek and there is intolerant and tolerant to pollution. In salmon I learned the cycle. It starts with eggs, then alevin, then fry, then parr, then smolt, then adult, then spawning adult.

For chimacum creek I was D.O. We measure D.O. by mg/L. We got a scrore of 8.125. And thats gooood! pH is good too we got a 6 which is in acidic. Turbitys average is 44.7 NTU.
Nitrates average is 0.3 mg/L. Ammonium average is 1.6 but thats impossible because its really bad. Flow rates average is 1972.8. Temperatures average for water is 37.1 and the air is 44.7. Our creek is doimg really good because they are good averages.

So yes, our creek is doing really good! Please dont spit, litter, or pollute our creek! It is our creek and we have to take care of it!

On Thursday January 26 the 6th grades planted trees. Me and kailani planted about 8 trees. We planted shrubs and evergreens. We put the tree in without j-rooting it. Then we put the soil on. And we did the tug test. then we successfully planted a tree. Thank you everyone who made it possible to plant trees.

The spawn go upstream about 150m. When they travel upstream they change colors. Their threats are fisherman, fish ladders and waterfalls. they need the river to be safe for them!

The fry start living in schools and they start feeding into the river. They feed mostly on zooplankton until they're big enough to eat aquatic insects. Some salmon live in the river up to three years. Some go to the river as soon as they leave their nests. Loss of habitat along streams, rivers, and bays is one of their dangers.

Before the Alevin go into the open they can survive off of their yolk sack for a month. Once they leave the. Gravel they become a fry. They need fresh clean water. The need trees for shade and gravel or another substance to hide so they won't get crushed. Their threats are gulls, dippers, and sculpins.

The WATER CYCLE is reall important. If we didn't have the water cycle the world would always be dry because the SUN would keep it dry. The order is EVAPORATION, CONDENSATION, PRECIPITATION, and COLLECTION. Evaporation is when the water evaporates in the air. Condensation is when the water forms into a cloud. Precipition is when the RAIN, SNOW, or HAIL falls out of the sky. Collection is when all the water reunites together in oceans and lakes. That is what the water cycle does. TRANSPIRATION is when the water from the plants evaporates into the air. You can also call "water going into the air" water VAPOR.

Look at the caddisfly!

this is a stonefly larvae! My team and I found it

We are not sure if this is a mayfly or a stonefly because its legs are cut off!

We got a score of 21. We got that score from finding bugs from a jar, which came from Chimacum Creek. Then we found 4 different bugs in the very tolerant then we multiplyed that by 4 and we got 16. Then we got 1 in tolerant and multiplyed that by 2 then we got 18. Then we got 3 in very tolerent and multiplyed that by 1. Then we got a total of 21. The score means we got potentially good water quality. Yellow jacket creek got 25 points so it got potentially excellent water quality so its healthier then Chimacum creek.

Water Pollution is in our waters causing people to get diseases. Water pollution is contaminating our water everywere!
Sources of water pollution- Chemical: because farmers use chemicals to hinder bug infestations or other diseases from damaging thier crops. Industrial waste: the construction industry is also at fault for contaminating the water with cement, lubricants, and plastics.Oil pollution: also oil spills are damaging our water! Oil can't dissolve in the water so it make big clumps of oil floating it the water. Marine dumping: there is also surface water pollution on lakes oceans and rivers. People litter cardboard, nespaper, foam, aluminum, and a lot of other stuff. There is also groundwater pollution. Eutrophication: groundwater pollution is often caused by pesticide contamination from the soil. This can infect our drinking water and cause huge problems. Oxygen depleting: microorganisms this live in the water feed on biodegradable substances. When too much biodegradable material is added in thewater the number of microorganisms increase and use up the available oxygen. This is called oxygen depletion.

What does water pollution do to us? We can get diseases such as typoid and cholera. There is more health problems such as poor blood circulation, skin lesions, and vomiting. In fact, water pollution is said to be the leading cause of human death.
To stop this from happening we should recycle paper, plastic, and glass bottles. Also we should NOT litter! It is not healthy for our water (OR planet!) If we stop littering, not use anyting with polluting dyes, or have oil spills, and we recycle, We may be able to stop water pollution!
