Final Pioneer Diary Entry -- 05-10-12

Dear Diary,

This may be the last words I say. We are now at Snow Pass in early November, and it is the forth snow that Snow Pass has had. It is really cold here, and I think my toes are dead. Emily really misses her dad. She thinks it is not cold at all. I think she is going to get sick.

You already now that I have lived with Laura Swanson. Again she is the nicest person in the world. And also, even though I don’t live with Marie Colloni, she is also vary nice to me. She sometimes makes me some food for me and Emily. Emily really loves to play with Katrina. She loves her like a sister because she reminds her of her brother Harry. Now that I think of it, she does look like Harry with the curly brown hair and that big smile she has.

Well back to the point. We are going around Snow Pass because on the map it says there are no trees in the way. So that is why we are going around Snow Pass. I hope there is no snow in the way because I don’t want to die and never accomplish my dreams.

Well, if get to Hacker Valley (and if Fate lets us live), I hope I can make a new life in Oregon. I want to make a new life and live forever.

Black Holes!

If you ever plan to go to space one day, remember there are Black Holes every where and you can get trapped in them forever.

Have you ever thought how a black hole is made? Well, it is made out of dying stars. When a star dies, it is when all of the fuel goes down and it explodes, but scientists say it can also be made out of billions of pieces of dust and matter that get together out of the galaxy.

Do you know the strength of a black hole? It can trap light, and it can never come out. It is like a big vacuum cleaner in space!

Did you know how big it can get? Very big! It can go to 5ft, 10ft, 1mile, 100 miles, etc.

Do you know what happens next? It gets smaller, and smaller and smaller and it disappears.

So remember, if one day you go to space and see an exploding star, try not to get near it because if you do, it is a black hole and you can never get out of it… EVER!

The Challenger Space Trip -- 02-28-12

The Challenger Space Trip

Buehler is a place for the memory of the seven astronauts that died on Challenger Space Shuttle Mission in 1986. It helps kids know how the seven astronauts trained for their mission.

I was on the Life Support Team. What I had to do is see what the air temperature was in the space craft and make sure the air filter was clean. It was hard for me because I am not good at measurements. But it was fun to try something new.

The most important thing about the mission was when we had to get all the information we needed like how strong the air was and to see that if the air was clean so we can breath.

The hardest thing about my job was when me and Katie were working. This smoke came out of the fan on the wall so me and Katie had to change the air filter so we had clean air. If we hadn’t cleaned the filter just in time, we wouldn’t have a successful mission. But we changed it just in time.

If I could fly again, I would work faster and read the directions more carefully because I had to change the air filter. I did not know where the cabinet was, so that is why we had the air filter problem. So that is something I would do better if I could fly again.

Reporter: Today we are going to be interviewing twin hobos, Linda and Trinda. And the weird thing is they don't even look alike!

(Hobos walk in.)

Both: HI! We're Hobos!

Hobo Fan: GO HOBOS!

HOBO COUSIN: HI, I'M BILLY BOB!

Reporter: Okay, then….

Hobo Fan: GO HOBOS!

Reporter: OK, first question. What's your favorite color?

Trinda: PEE YELLOW!

Linda: TRIANGLE!

HOBO COUSION: HI, I'M BILLY BOB!

Reporter: OK. . .AWKARD FAMILY....

HOBO COUSION: HOW DID I EVEN GET HERE?

(HOBO COUSIN WALKS OUT.)

Reporter: Alright. . . .Next question, what's your favorite food?

Trinda: Pencils! And I just figured out I'm surrounded by pencils and I'm trying to go on a diet!

Linda: Clipboard! I like the metal part the best!

Hobo Fan: GO HOBOS!

Reporter: Will someone get this crazy fool out of this studio?!

(Security takes Hobo Fan away.)

Hobo Fan: GO HOBOS!

Reporter: Next Question. . . ,what is a place you want to visit?

Trinda: CANDYLAND!

Linda: Hippolania.

(HOBO COUSION RUNS BACK IN.)

Hobo Cousin: Would you like fries with that?!

Reporter: Alright then….Last question, how did you even become Hobos?!

Believe In Your Self -- 01-20-12

“The Other Side” is about a girl named Annie that sits on a fence and always looks at other kids playing. One day she asked if she can play, but the kids said, “No!” On the days that rain, Annie still sits on the fence with her rain jacket on. One day, one of the girls that played on the other side, Clover, asked if she can sit on the fence with her. Annie said yes, and they became friends.

When I reread “The Other Side” I realized it was all about believing in your self. Annie believed she can be friends with Clover, the girl on the other side of the fence. Annie always asked if she can play jump rope with them, and Clover’s friends said no. But Clover did want to play with her. Later, Clover saw Annie sitting on the fence also on rainy days with her rain jacket on. Clover's mom said, “Don’t stare. It is impolite. That is why I got you rainy day toys.” But Clover saw Annie on the fence and asked if she can sit with her. Clover said, “Yes”. After that, Clover and Annie became best friends. So “The Other Side” is really all about believing in your self.

When I thought about “The Other Side” even more, I thought about my own life and how I have believed in myself. When I was small I did not have lots of friends, but I always believed I could get friends if I tried really hard and believed in myself. At pre~k I always introduced myself to other kids. One day a girl named Stephanie asked if she can play with me. I said yes and we became friends.

So no mater what, you should always believe in your self.

Rain Forest Café

One day my mom said, “We are going for a family vacation.” So she just started to call people.

Then she told me, “We are going with your aunt and my friend, Esmeralda.”

When my dad got home I told my dad, “Dad, we are going for a family vacation!”

It was a very long time to get to the hotel. When we got to the hotel we stayed there for two weeks. It was fun because the hotel had the biggest pool in the world! The boardwalk was so long it seemed like we would did not get to the end for four days! The beach was beautiful, but the waves were so big they could have pushed a house.

Soon it was the last day so we all had to pack up and go home. But on the way we went to Atlantic City. When we got to the boardwalk we walked and walked and walked until we got in front of the Rain Forest Café. It had lot of animals like frogs, tigers, and a talking tree inside. When we got to the door of the restaurant we had to find someone to help us get inside. When we got to our table there was so much food on the menu I said to my mom, “Can you just buy the restaurant for me?”

“No! Because it is a lot of money."

All of the drinks were so good. I got a cherry with blue berry slushy. It was so good. It melted in my mouth.

When we left I was so sad because it was fun to go.

The next day it was my birthday so my mom called all of her friends over so they could help her decorate. When I got home they all yelled. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” The cake was so big and yellow.

When all the people left I said to my mom, “Thank you for the party.”

Rain Forest Café

One day my Mom said, “We are going for a family vacation.” So she just stared to call people. Then she told me, “We are going with Aunt and my friend Esmeralda.” When my dad got home I told him we are going for a family vacation.

The Big Yellow Monster

One Halloween night two girls named Amy and Katie went out to trick or treat.

They saw some friends on the way. Then they got to Apple Street. It was really dark and cold, but Amy and Katie went in to the street. They both had their flash lights so they turned them on. It was a dead end so when they looked up there was a big and scary house. They went in.

When they opened the door it made the worst sound ever. Even bats came out, but they were not scared at all. Then they went up stairs and there was a very big door. When they opened it, they shined their flash lights up.

There was a BIG YELLOW MONSTER!

When they saw it, they ran out as fast as they could.

When they got to the end of the street there was a big gate. They were locked in the street, and the big yellow monster was coming to them.

When the monster was in front of them it said, “Hello my name is Mary. What is yours?”

Both of the girls started to scream really loud!

One of their friends, Nelly, came by.

“Help us! We are trapped inside this street,” they said in a really scared voice.

Nelly ran to find the police. When Nelly got with the police officer he said he is not a real police. When he left, Amy and Katie said they were really mad at her because she got a fake police officer.

After that the two girls went into the house to find the big yellow monster.

When they got to the big door they opened it and the monster was crying. The girls went up to her to say sorry but the monster started to yell at them. They said they were so sorry to think she was scary. They asked if they wanted to be FRIENDS.

So then the three friends went on to trick or treat.

Going Apple Picking -- 09-27-11

Sunday morning I was in the car ready to go apple picking. When we got to the parking lot it was full so we had to park somewhere else. So to get to the apple trees we had to walk. First we had to eat. Then we saw the animals. Then came the fun part, we went to the apple picking. I got the biggest apple. One apple fell on my head, and it hurt a lot. We were there for hours. We had to go back to the cars, and the apples were too heavy to carry back to the car so we had to go on the hay ride. It was so much fun going APPLE PICKING.

Going Camping -- 09-21-11

One Friday morning at 4:00am I was getting ready to go camping. I had my sleeping bag, shirts, and pants. I was ready to go.

I was in the car with my seat belt on and ready to go, my mom, my dad, and me. To get to the camp site it was two hours and 30 min. When we got there my mom, my dad, me, and my friend’s families had to sign in. When we got to the hill we all had to find a good spot to put our tents. My mom and me had to build our tent because my dad had to help someone else. It was not hard at all. When all the tents where built, all of the little kids play with the dogs, Flint and May. Flint is 10 months old and May is 5 years old. For lunch we had corn and tacos. The tacos where better than Taco Bell. When it was dark out we all had marshmallows.

The next day we all went to the river to swim. It was so much fun to go to the river.

The next day was the last. I was sad to go home but we had to go because the small kids had to go to school. That's why we had to go home.

When we got home we had to unpack. It took two hours.

It was fun to go CAMPING!
