May Free
Oaah what can I say about Alicia's mom? SHE'S GOT IT GOING ON! She seriously is the best! I know a lot about Alicia's mom, which you may think is wierd, but I promise I'm not a stalker. Alicia's mom is theee bomb!

One time, it was a cold night in December, Jacqui (Alicia's mom), took us Christmas caroling. We went to lots of houses! We also sang country songs in the car with the radio blasted. It was a great time! Also, one night we were all over to Alicia's house and her mom made us popcorn and we watch Pirates of the Carribean! It was so fun! We also played dress up with Jacqui's high heels. She didn't even care when we broke one! Jaqui helps us discover the world in such a fun way!

I know a lot about Jacqui. She got her nails done like a month or so ago. She is a fantastic dancer! She also dresses nice, she even owns some cool yoga pants. She is one cool cat! She's got a boyfriend, They're a good couple. Jacqui is awesome!

Jacqui is a cool person and she is fun to hang with! If you haven't met her, you should! You can see the Alicia's mom really does got it going on!

FRESHHHH! -- 05-21-12

Dear Freshy: Initial and Final.

helllo there kidd!

Welcome to your freshmen year. It's a fun one, and a hard one. I have to say that some classes like most remain fairly easy but others get harder and you have to push yoursel in order to succeed. I know that I struggled myself this year. Remember to always put school first, keep your priorities straight. Don't let sports bring your grades down because when grade check comes you'll be sitting on the bench and have a bad grade. Remember to do Miss Transue's blogs because they have a big effect on your grade, and don't slack off. Keep up on homework otherwise you are just making it harder on yourself. But don't let this blog worry you. If you do your homeowork and keep up with class assignments you should do fine! Don't be afraid to go get extra help because you can only benefit from it.

Also, don't let drama or any little things like that get to you. Drama is for people that have no life of there own to be happy about. If you get bullied or anything like that don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. Being a freshmen it is going to be hard. Whenever something goes wrong the upper classmen tend to blame is on the freshmen. Don't let it bother you. Remember that you'll be picking on other freshmen someday. d: Most of the teachers this year are pretty cool, and understanding. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Don't let other drama queen, two-faced people run your Freshmen year. It's a fun one so don't waste it. Enjoy it!

Stay focused on your grades! Don't allow yourself to be pushed around. I also encourage you to take part in some kind of extracurricular activity. Enjoy your freshmen year while it lasts because you only want it to happen once!(;

Run Baby Run!<3 -- 05-16-12

Sing It Out: Initial and Final.

“Kick off your shoes, Ay Oahh Ay Oahh!” The song “Check Yes Juliet” by We the Kings contains allusions to Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. The song depicts the love story and does a good job comparing the song to the story.

"Check Yes Juliet" illistrates the love story Romeo and Juliet. It mainly focuses on the two lovers running away so that they can freely be together. In the story Romeo and Juliet are not allowed to be together because their families are enemies so they must run away in order to be together. In the song the narrator is convincing the girl to run away with him by saying, "Run, baby, run/ Don't ever look back/ they'll tear us apart/ If you give them the chance." It depicts the book in an effective way.

The allusion in this story is pretty accurate. The narrator of the song says, "Just sneak out/ And don't tell a soul good bye." That is exactly what Romeo and Juliet's plan is. He also says that he will throw rocks at her window and wait for her to come outside, which is kind of like what Romeo said to Juliet. Instead of throwing rocks he climbed to her balcony, and instead of waiting for her to come out, he went in. The song portrays the story perfectly. Almost exactly the same.

In conclusion, "Check Yes Juliet" by We The Kings is based on a story by William Shakespeare called Romeo and Juliet. They compare very well and the song illistrates the story effectively and correctly.

PULL UP YOUR PANTS! -- 04-19-12

April Freewrite Initial and Final.

If you're walking down the hall at school and someone yells, "PULL UP YOUR PANTS!" then you probably need to pull up your pants! Also, in the words of Jeff Foxworthy, "If you see a sign that says 'Say no to crack' and it reminds you too pull up you're pants..." you should probably pull up your pants. You are not cooool looking, I promise! It bothers me so much to see people walking around with their pants down around their knees and stuff like that. You don't need to buy your clothes four times to big.

It is disgusting that I have to see guys boxers as I am walking down the hall. If I can see your boxers, buy pants that are your size or get a belt! Also, if you are wearing a belt, don't just wear it for looks, put it to use! Pants were made to cover you up. Plus, if you wear your pants around your knees, what is the point of pants. You are wasting your money. Also, If you use that lame excuse, "Well, I'm too warm." buy some shorts! I am not trying to make fun of anyone. I'm really just giving you a simple word of advice. If you have to carry your books in one hand and hold your pants up with the other, you have a problem. I don't care if you wear your pants like that out of school, but when I have to see that all day there is some issues.

So please, if you do this, help everyone out. I'm sorry but no one wants to see that. If this doesn't convince you I would advise you to look up where it originated that people wore their pants like that. Thank you for doing us all a favor.(:

I WORKOUT! -- 03-25-12

"Look at that body, I WORKOUT!" Yeaaah that's right! I've been workin out, I'm toned and I know it! I feel really good this month because I have been doing daily workouts to tone muscle and burn fat. I've been using workout tapes. I think they really work!

My friends laugh at me, but when I'm done with the six week workout cycle, and I look really good, they'll see! My friends tell me that I have "baby muscles" which is good because I used to have no muscles at all! Soon I will have "big girl" muscles! The cycle is called Slim in 6. It is a set of videos which train you and help you learn ways to keep yourself fit. I have become very toned and have burned a little fat so far. I am on week four right now. Weeks one, two, and three were not that hard, but week four has been very challenging! Weeks four, five, and six are called burn it up, and I sure know why! Even though it is hard to push myself to work out I know that it will be worth it in the end. There is also a short ab workout tape which will help burn fat and tone muscle in the mid section. It is definitly strengthening!

In conclusion working out can be a fun, effective experience. Hopefully I get great results from this six week workout. I would definitly recommend it to anyone who thinks they want to workout.

One reason why a deconstructionist would celebrate this song is because when the speaker says, “You’re a waterfall, washing over me / I’m a thirsty man let me drink you in” he is saying that he wants to be with the girl and he wants her to let him love her. A deconstructionist would be in favor for this because he isn’t literally a waterfall, he has deeper meaning.

Another example that illustrates why a deconstructionist would approve of this song is because the speaker uses symbolism.

I might go see The Vow with my friend Alexis. It is about love so it kind of fits this month's theme of love and romance. Too bad we don't have dates to take. d; Hopefully we also go out to eat. That would be really fun. I also might go to the movies to see Safe House, which is about a CIA agent and a bad mission. Its rated R and it is violent. It sounds like a lot of fun doesn't it?

This month is also the month of my dogs birthday. Her name is Ali May and she will be turning three on February 13. She was born on Friday the 13 three years ago. I think that's kind of special. My little sister is making her a special cake out of dog food and treats. Last year we almost forgot her birthday, but we aren't making that mistake twice.

CHRISTMAS! I love Christmas! Everyone is merry and excited. You get to decorate your home and your tree. You get to eat Christmas cookies. Sometimes you go caroling. You party with your family and friends! You give and receive presents! It’s just a wonderful time of year!

Christmas is really fun. My mom and I bake Christmas cookies together every year. This year we made sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies. We usually make more, but we didn't have that much time. We also made zucchini bread and chocolate - peanut butter fudge. It is fun to bake but it is especially fun to eat!

Giving and getting presents is always fun. This year, I made my aunt a painting that she wanted. When she opened it she was overjoyed. It made me happy that she liked it. I also got my little sister six things including the casper movie she had been wanting! I was proud when she watched it the next day and loved it. I got my mom and stepdad a card with money in it. They always like money, (who doesn't)! I got a pair of Nike Air Force Ones for Christmas! I also got a pink laptop and a few movies I wanted! I think everyone in my family had a good Christmas!

Christmas is a fun- filled holiday that many people enjoy! It is a wonderful felling to give a present and it is also nice to get one. I hope you had e very merry Christmas and also a Happy New Year!

Cheerleading is a sport! -- 11-29-11

November Free Write.

I am so happy! Would you like to know why? I’m happy because November is the month that cheerleading starts! I am a wrestling cheerleader. I absolutely love to cheer.

This year is the first year I’ve been on an official cheerleading squad. I had to try out in May last year and I made the squad! We just started practicing a few weeks ago and I am so glad I chose to be a wrestling cheerleader. We learned a bunch of cheers so far and we are working on our big floor dance. What we haven’t started is stunting. I really want to be a flyer, which is the person up in the air. I’ve cheered in a lot of camps and such, and I have realized that I love being the flyer. I think we are going to start flying soon but it’s still not soon enough for me!

Some people say that cheerleading is not a sport. I strongly disagree. Cheerleading is a tough thing to do. You have to be fit and flexible. If you are a base while stunting, you have to be strong. Well, I guess you also have to be strong when you’re a flyer because you have to hold your own weight. You also have to be brave because you are thrown up in the air and there is a huge chance that you could be seriously injured. If anyone ever tells you that cheerleading is not a sport, prove them wrong!

Cheerleading is the best sport in the world! I would absolutely recommend anyone to be a cheerleader.

To Change Yourself? -- 11-15-11

Extra Credit Second Marking Period.

To Change Yourself?

Would you try to change for a person that was just going to let you down in the end? I recently read a story called “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” by W.D. Wetherell. In this story the narrator tried to change to impress a crush. The narrator should have chosen the fish over Sheila, his crush, because the fish would have been more reward, and even though she did go out with him, she did blow him off later.

The narrator should have chosen the bass over Sheila because the bass would have been more rewarding. The narrator said, “It was the biggest fish I ever hooked” (Wetherell 7). He could have showed off the fish for the rest of his life. The narrator realizes that “There would be other Sheila Mants in my life” (Wetherell 10). He would never hook that same fish again. When realizing his mistake, the narrator says, “I never made the same mistake again” (Wetherell 10). He knows that he made the wrong choice.

Sheila did go to the concert with the narrator, even though she had to ride in his canoe. Sheila did only use him to get there though. According to the story, she just wanted to see Eric Caswell and ride home with him in his Corvette (10). Sheila also danced with different people instead of the narrator. She was his date.

The narrator made a stupid mistake when he picked Sheila over the bass because she wasn’t going to the concert for him anyway. The very first thing that Sheila said when the narrator asked her to the concert was, “Eric Caswell’s going to be there” (Wetherell 7). Obviously, that is all that she cared about. Plus, when they got to the concert, the narrator said he may have danced with Sheila “once or twice” (Wetherell 10). Sheila should have danced with the narrator all the time, not just some of the time. Also, the narrator said that when the music was over Sheila told the narrator, “She would be going home in Eric Caswell’s corvette” (Wetherell 10). She should have been going home with him.

We all try to change for someone at one point in our lives, but we should all realize that it isn’t a good idea. The narrator didn’t realize this until after he lost his big bass, and Sheila Mant blew him off. I’m just glad that the narrator learned from his mistake, and will never do it again.

A Holiday to be Creative? -- 10-19-11

October Free Write.

Boooo! Ahhhhh! Help me, help me! Halloween is a scary and fun holiday! Halloween is my favorite holiday! I love to go trick-or-treating with my friends and family. I always try to be creative with my costumes. I’ve been many different things and I try not to buy my costumes from the store. Another fun part of Halloween is getting to see everyone else’s creative costumes.

When I was younger my Grandma made me a witch costume. I wore a black, old-looking dress with a pointy hat. Another year I was a cheerleader for the Steelers. I remember one time I was a clown. I had a multi-colored afro with a mix matched clown suit. I was a singer one year. I wore a dress and I carried a microphone. Also, I was Dracula’s bride.

As I got older I got a little more creative. I was once the devil. I wore horns and even had a pointy tail.. I was a wizard the year after that and carried around a wand. The next year I was a biker chick. I wore the bandana, the boots, and even the leather jacket. It was really cool looking. Last year I was a bag of skittles. That leads me to this year. I am planning on being a bumble bee. I even have the wings and antennas.

I think one of the coolest things about Halloween is seeing how creative your friends and family can be. I remember that one year my sister was a go-go dancer. My cousin was a hippie nerd one year. She wore tie dye and geek glasses with tape in the middle. My friend was a bubble bath last year. It was real neat. She had a box covered in aluminum foil, then she put light blue balloons all around the inside. My other friend was a hula dancer one year. This year my little sister is being a cow. It’s amazing what people come up with!

Halloween is a great holiday because you can be creative and have a good time. Not to mention the candy you get for it.(:

Mousetraps on Wheels! d; -- 10-19-11

Extra Credit Science.

Bam! My mousetrap racer hit the wall! That is the last thing I wanted to happen. That is why I was very careful about the design of my mousetrap racer. I designer my racer so that it wouldn’t hit the wall. My mousetrap had some very strong points yet some faults, an if I could change anything I would have taken more time on the design. Also, if I had to grade myself on my work I would give myself a high grade. My racer functioned almost perfectly.

I designed my mousetrap racer so that it would turn at a 90 degree angle. I made the front end wheels straight, and my back wheels turned a little; which was actually a change from my original design plans because I was going to keep my back wheels straight and my front wheels turned. I also didn’t put the side wheels on the car because I tested it without them and found that they were just unnecessary. I kept everything else the same though. I extended my lever arm and tied fishing line on it. This way, when I wrapped the fishing line around the back axle and set off the mouse trap, it spun the wheels and the mousetrap racer went rolling.

I believe that the design of my car was very good, yet it did have its faults. The best thing is that it does make the turn. It also makes it to the finish line. That was my main goal. Though my mousetrap racer does have so problems. The racer is too slow. I wish I would have created it to go at a little faster rate. Also, my mousetrap cannot make it over the speed bumps. This is partly because it is too long and also because it is too slow. If I could remake my whole mousetrap I would definitely take more time on it. Plus, I would consider not only the turn that the racer needed to make, but also the speed bumps.

If I had too give myself a grade, I would probably give myself ay 25 out of 25. I would give myself this grade because my car design had everything required and my car also made the required 90 degree turn. My car had everything it needed to accelerate. My racer also made it from the starting area, around the 90 degree turn, and all the way to the finishing area, and stayed there. My mousetrap racer did everything that was required of it.

Building this mousetrap racer was a great experience. I never thought I could build it, but it actually wasn’t that hard. I learned how to build and design in a fun and challenging way.

I had a wonderful summer! I went to Canada, I worked, and I went to the beach. The best part is, I spent the summer with the people that matter most to me: my family.

I went to Canada this summer; I love it up there. I've been up ther three rimes before but I have to admit this was one of my favorite trips of there. I went with my aunt, uncle, and cousin. We all had a great time. We have a bunch of friends up there including our fellow Glow Hill Gang members. You see, there is a little hill in the campground which is named Glow Hill. My aunt and uncle have their camper there. Also, we are good friends with the owners of the campground whom we call the farm kids. The live on a huge farm and we went up and helped or hung out with them everyday. We had tons of fun in Canada!

I also have a short job for the summer. I worked for my nieghbor. He had a five gallon jug of change and it took me almost two months to count it all. I went over almost every night. I made pretty good money.

Another thing I did over the summer is I went to Brennan Beach. I went with my mom, stepdad and little sister. We have friends there and we stayed there just for the day. It was a fun experience, and I would love to do it again.

My name is Kyrston and I drink chocolate milk every morning and every night. My favorite quote is “You took for granted all the times I never let you down.” This quote is by 3 Doors Down and it is from their song Kryptonite. I chose this quote because it is so true; people don’t realize how much others do for them. For a picture of something I like I have a picture of Nicki Minaj because I love her music and her attitude and spirit. I chose the book Black Beauty by Anna Sewell for a book that brings back good memories. I chose this book because my mom used to read it to me before I could read and she said that I memorized it. The final picture on my binder is a picture of something that is important to me and that is my family. The picture represents my step dad, mom, myself, my little sister, and my dog. That is my binder and thank you for listening to my presentation.
