Romeo and Juliet in a song ??? -- 05-09-12

Sing it Out

What's the first thing you think of when you hear the word love? Is it romance, date night, Romeo and Juliet? In the song "Love story" by Taylor Swift, Taylor represents them as two lovers living in our world. Romeo and Juliet are both depicted in this song real well.

In this song it shows that a young boy and girl think that they are in love, but they really arent, there just kids and don't know what love is like in the song it says "We were both young when I first saw you". They were only young.

"Love story" is a very good comparison and allusion to the story. It shows how much they are in love. "Marry me Juliet, you'll never have to be alone, I love you and thats all I really know" Romeo does this same thing in the story he ask's Juliet to marry him and they say yes.

Finally "Love Story" is a great comparison to Romeo and Juliet. It shows that they are in love in all the right places.

Class of 2016 -- 05-07-12

Dear Freshman,

Can you beleive it it's already your freshman year? It's both hard and exitcing at the same time, you need to keep on top of your grades, keep your self organized. As a Freshman you have a lot of things to look forward to like Homecoming, a great field day, pep rallys and other cool stuff. There is some downfalls of being a freshman like being called last for assemblies, and your back in the bottom of the pyramid for this year.

In order for you to be sucessful this year you need to keep your grades up. Do your blogs! In english its a key thing, you may not like it but you need to do them, it could be the breaking point between passing and failing.

To be sucessful this year you will also need to be organized. Like keeping your locker clean, keeping all your papers for one class in one place. If you don't stay organized then you will be in big trouble.

Well I hope you have a great freshman year. Good luck!
Sincerely
Celia!

Sophmore Year just arond the corner? -- 05-04-12

May free write

They say "Another year older another year wiser.” Boy do I feel like that, it’s the tail end of my freshman year and I do feel like I am wiser! I’ve concord a lot over the past year, like keeping my best friends as close to me as I can. And by learning to keep my grades up (which that was real hard).
I kept my best friends as close to me as I can, we had our ups and downs but we did pull through. We had this faze where we weren’t talking much at all but we came back and pulled it together to finish off the year strong and on a high note. When we weren’t fighting we did have a lot of fun. Like we drew silly pictures of different things wrote notes during class joked around a lot to make it a fun filled year!!

This year was a struggle for me. I had to try to keep my grades up. I had no problem with my health, science, English. Then came algebra and civics. The two most hated subjects in my house. Where should I start? With A2+B2=C2? Or the three branches of government? I could get some of the Algebra stuff down like A2+B2=C2 and X+Y=XY. In civics forget it, I understood everything but when it came to the tests I could not remember anything. It was the same thing in Algebra too it was just weird. Finally I got the hang of things; I started to remember things in both Algebra and civics. I have a substantial grade in both classes and am looking to bringing my “A” game from now on.

Overall I had a great freshman year; I’ve kept close to my friends and found a way to keep my grades up.

Only 2 Months Left!!!!!!!!!!! -- 04-18-12

April Freewrite

Ring, Ring, Ring that sound of the last period bell is such a relief to most Freshmen.
Espesially after a well stressed out and long day.

Ohh when April comes around I know that schools ALMOST over. I know that there's about two months left and that I can't wait to get out of school and have a great summer. This time of year everyone gets anxious. People want to be outside instead of being cooped up inside. Once that first nice sixty to fifty five degree day comes people cant control themselves. Sometimes when I"m inside trapped in school I always think to myself "two more months you can do this."

I start to tell my friends about my big plans for summer. Which normally include a family vacation, a vacation with my grandparents, and normally a trip to Knobels amusment park. We always have alot of fun. My friends are always jelous of where I go for vacation because I've been to Washinton D.C. Chicago, Virginia.

This year has gone by way to fast, but I can't wait until summer is here and well on it's way to a good one!

Softball Season :) -- 03-22-12

March Freewrite
Ball's hitting off of the bats, the sound of the ball when it hits your golve, that weird feeling at your first time up to bat. The smell of that fresh spring air it must mean that softabll is starting soon. It's the middle of march so that means softball season is underway and should be in full swing. I love the game, I've been playing for about six to seven years by now. I normally play in the outfeild.

I half to say its a hard position to play but since I've been playing for a while I basically have it down. This game is my life I love it, I can't wait to get out on the feild and hit that ball out of the park. That might not happen but I can sure as heck try my hardest at the sport I love.

This year I moved up to the varsity team. I might not be in the starting line up, but I'm there if Coach needs me. I do start if we play JV games that's always fun. I have told my sister and mom, and even friends this but I love being a part of the team over here at Elk Lake.

Last year as a eigth grader I had fun being at the junoir high level. This year the teams are alot better, we have faster pitchers. I still come in to every game with a focused and ready to play mind. I can't wait to see what our team does this year. We can go far and wont stop until we get something great out of it. Ladies lets get out on that field and play some softball!!!:)

When I'm in sunday school sometimes we sing the Fruits of the Spirit song. It gets annoying sometimes but when you learn the meaing of them you understand why the song's so catchy! Some of the fruits of the spirit describe my friends. My friend Makala is peace, Olivia is self control, Emily is kindness, Lauren is love, Jenny is gentleness.

The reason Makala is peace is because when ever some people are in a fight she is the one who trys to help. She trys to help eachother out and bring some sense into everyones mind about why we are fighting. She trys to help us break up the fight and bring us back to together.

Olivia is selt-control because everything she does has to be in a certain order. She's the one who if she looses her pencil will freak out and wonder where she put it. Every thing has to make sense in her mind if not it's not a good day for her.

Emily is kindness because she is easy and great to get along with. She can also help when it is needed and be there for you when you need it. She can pull you up when your down and just be a great friend forever.

Lauren is love because she love's everyone for who they are and dosen't judge anyone by the way they look. She gives everybody a chance at life and gives everybody a good push in the back when ever they need it.

Jenny is gental because she can take any news like a champ. I love Jen for who she is, she can cheer anyone up and make them smile.

My friends all represent all different types of fruits of the spirit. Do any of your friends do the same?

Construction Theory-Historicism -- 02-08-12

Construction Theory- Historicism

A Historicist would celebrate the book The Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank because it was written in the same time period of the Holocaust, and they would also celebrate the book because it was wtitten by someone who witnessed the Holocaust.

One reason a historicist would celebrate this book is because the book is written in the same period of the Holocaust. It shows what Anne went through when she had to hide in the attic. It captured the setting of the book real well; historicist would like that because it brought the feel and agony to the book.

Another reson a Historicist would celebrate the book is because the book was written by someone who witnessed this horible act in our history. It's better than having someone who reasearched it write about it, than someone who auctally saw the stuff happen.

Finally a Historicist would celebrate the book The Diary of Anne Frank becuase it was written in the same time period and it was also written by someone who witnessed the Holocoust.

The Ground Hog Day Birthday:) -- 02-01-12

February Free Write

Sometimes you say that you hate your sibblings. I know I do but in the end I love them and that they know that I am joking with them.

In the month of February I have one person that is close to me that has a birthday. That is my sister. My sister’s birthday is February 2. Its Ground Hogs day! Since my sister was born on that day my Grandpa has always called her Groundhog.
She doesn’t mind she actually likes it! I really can’t believe that she likes being called Groundhog. I guess since she was called that from the day she was born I half to believe that she really dose like it. She likes sharing her birthday with Puxatawney Phil it kinda gives her something to look forward to ! On her birthday my Grandpa calls early in the morning to wish her a very happy birthday! Then once we get home from school my mom is cooking she will ask my sister what she would like for her birthday dinner. This year we had steak and mac and Cheese. She loves steak and that homemade macandcheese.

Of course as every one knows there has to be cake at the end of a birthday dinner! We had a vanilla cake with white icing. Since my dad had work the night of my siters birthday we had cake for breakfast with my dad that morning. That was really good. My sister loved the idea of having cake for breakfast. She didn't even know that we were going to have cake. She was so surprised!

My sister had a great birthday. I'll bet it will be on she will never forget. I think she will love this day forever!

Are arguments good or bad?
Do you ever have big arguments with your parents? Did you ever think that one day you can fix your problems? Will and his dad did just that in the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. The relationship between Will and his dad changed by the carnival coming into town, Mr. Halloway finding out that the carnival was evil and it gave them a common goal between the two of them to relate to.
Mr.Halloway and Will’s relationship changed because the carnival arrived in town. With the carnival arriving in town Will started to see a change in his dad when he came home and asked “Anything new dad?” “Stone lion blew off the library steps prowling the town now, looking for Christians.” (Bradbury 37) At this point in the novel Will’s relationship with his dad is just little conversations and there really not bonding with each other. “From the beginning Please” (Bradbury, 189) Will’s father would like to hear the whole story from beginning to the end about the boys and the carnival. Both Will and Jim tell Mr.Halloway about the carnival and how they think it is evil and Mr. Halloway believes them. In this part of the story Mr.Halloway and Will are beginning to connect more with each other, they start to talk more and are involved with each other’s lives more than they were before the carnival arrived in town.
“Jesus God, the more you bawl, the more they drink the salt off your chin… you got that laugh” (Bradbury 281). Will thinks that Jim is dead, Mr. Halloway insists that Will stops crying and gets up and to jump around and be happy or else Jim could die. If the two of them jump around and enjoy life that means that the carnival would slowly diminish their evilness. Although others think that their relationship did not change by the carnival coming to town. Their relationship did not change until the carnival came.
The relationship with Will and his dad also changed by Mr.Halloway finding out that the carnival was evil. When Mr.Halloway found out the carnival was evil he brought interest into his son’s life more than ever. “1860.1846. Same ad… Beware the autumn people” (Bradbury 38). In this quote Mr.Halloway tells the boys everything he knows or found out about the carnival. He wants to know what the boys know about the carnival to. Also in this quote Will figures out that he can trust his dad more. “The crescent moon I have marked on the bullet is not a crescent moon. It is my own smile” (Bradbury 47). Here Mr.Halloway offered to do a trick at the carnival and Mr.Halloway knew that all happiness kills evil so he has taken the advantage to this offer. He kills the Dust Witch with Wills help and ends up gaining more and more trust with Will.
“Jim, get off! Jim, don’t leave me here” (Bradbury 51). Jim is on the carousel which allows you to go backward in your age or forward in your age. Jim has always wanted to try the carousel out. Will would not let Jim do this because Jim is Will’s best friend and if anything happened to Jim then Will would not be able to bounce back. Will is trying to get Jim off the carousel and can’t do it. Will finally gets Jim off the carousel, and hopes that Jim is okay. People did not believe the carnival was evil; it was evil in the oddest of ways.
Will’s relationship with his dad changed when the carnival came to town, it gave Will and Mr.Halloway a common goal to relate to. Mr. Halloway gives the boys a speech about the carnival and how you should appreciate life more than what you do now because one day it will all be gone. This opens Will’s eyes to recognize his dad as a caring person and that he love Will to infinity. With Mr.Halloway giving his speech about the carnival he tells the boys that he will help them with whatever they need to help take down this carnival. Once Jim got off the carousel he just laid there and Will began to think that Jim is dead, Mr.Halloway tells Will to stop crying and be happy because the happier you are the better Jim will get and he will be with us again Mr.Halloway takes it upon himself to take down this carnival once and for all. When a little boy comes running down the hill he knows that he needs to kill the boy with happiness and forgiveness. Will and Mr.Halloway figure out that they may argue a lot but they can still love each other as a son and father. There was no common goal for them to relate to, but the common goal was easy to bring peace into their lives.
The relationship between Mr.Halloway changed when the carnival came into town, there was a common goal between Mr.Halloway and Will for them to relate to. Finally, Mr.Halloway finding out that the carnival was evil, in the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury.

Christmas Shoes :) -- 11-30-11

December Free Write:

Christmas Shoes by New Song

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line

Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood

Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously

Pacing 'round like little boys do

And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe

And when it came his time to pay

I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Chorus:

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please

It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size

Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time

You see she's been sick for quite a while

And I know these shoes would make her smile

And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years

Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"

He searched his pockets frantically

Then he turned and he looked at me

He said Mama made Christmas good at our house

Though most years she just did without

Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,

Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out

I'll never forget the look on his face when he said

Mama's gonna look so great

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please

It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size

Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time

You see she's been sick for quite a while

And I know these shoes would make her smile

And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

Bridge:

I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love

As he thanked me and ran out

I knew that God had sent that little boy

To remind me just what Christmas is all about

This is such a beautiful song! I love it. When I first heard this song I was in the car coming home from some where and heard it, as this was playing in the car I started to cry :( This song reminded me so much of my great grandma who has passed away and who I miss so MUCH. "He said Mama made Christmas good at our house.Though most years she just did without tell me Sir, what am I going to do, somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes" This is from the song and when they are talking about how mama made Christmas good at our house, this reminds me to much of my grandma because I loved my Grandma so very much. My Grandma kinda made Christmas good at my house because she would allways give us the best presents ever and she would allways make the best Christmas cookies for us. :)

This whole song is awsome to me, when I heard it for the first time in the car I loved it and now when ever I hear it playing on the radio in the car I allways think of my grandma. In the song when the little boy wants to buy his mom these red shoes I think of myself because before my grandma passed she asked my mom and other grandma if they would do something for me and my sister. She wanted our birthstones put into a ring for us to have. On the inside of this ring it says "love Richie September 25,2005" (Richie is what I used to call my grandma) At the time I got this ring it was too big for me to wear so my dad put a chain on it and said wear it as a neacklace until you can wear it for a ring. So brining this back to the little boy who wanted to buy the red shoes for his mom my grandma wanted something for us to remember her by. That was the awsomest Chritsmas present she could ever give me!

Ohh the smells of thanksgiving from the turkey in the oven. To the smells of pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays ever besides Christmas; I love thanksgiving because I love the food from the turkey to even the stuffing. It is all so good I really don’t have a favorite food of thanksgiving.

I also love thanksgiving because that means three days after is the first day of rifle season. I do hunt but I have fun doing it and enjoy spending time with my grandpa. One last thing I love about thanksgiving is my family is always there around the table joking around and having tons of fun. When we are all at the table for dinner we say grace then start to eat. By the time we are done with our Thanksgiving meal we are all full. We clear the table off put the leftovers in containers. My grandma always sends some home with us so we can have the leftovers the next day. After dinner is done and all the dishes are in the dishwasher, my grandpa and uncle go into the den to watch football.

Or how about someone is conceded to you in the store? Well Sheila Mant is that way and be stereotyped could be stereotyped as a and inconsiderate girl. I read the “Bass, the River and Shelia Mant” by W.D Wetherall recently.

Sheila Mant can be stereotyped as a conceded girl. “Eric said I have the figure to model but I thought I should get an education first” This was Sheila telling the narrator about herself and she would not let the narrator talk at all. “I have to be careful with my complexion I tan, but in segments.” Again here is Sheila talking the narrators head off, with the thought of how she needs to tan, and how she tans on her own time. “Her face that bothered me if it had a delightful fullness a very dubious expression”. At this time the narrator is picking up Sheila at her house and going to the folk concert, but the way the narrator sees Sheila’s face when she comes out he does not like it. Some people who may have read the story before could say that Sheila Mant is a nice and caring person. But since Sheila ignored the narrator way too much on the way to the concert, and at the concert that is just rude.

Some could think from after reading this story that Sheila Mant is a nice and caring person. They could argue this point very well, from the fact that Sheila was nice enough to go on the date with the narrator. Also that she was caring enough to tell the narrator that she was going home with Eric Caswell. But since Sheila did not let the narrator talk on the ride to the concert, and was rude to him the whole night. That does not sound like a nice and caring person.

Now the narrator just gave Sheila some advice about if she was playing a base. Did she take that advice into consideration??? No she did not she just made a rude comment back to the narrator. “You have a car? Look I can get my Dads car”. This quote Sheila came down to the dock to go with the narrator and go to the concert with him, but instead she hated the idea of taking a canoe because it would take longer rather than a car. “I may have danced once or twice with her but all I remember is her coming over to tell me she was going home in Eric Caswells car”. Now the night is over and the narrator is so sad he just found out that his crush will be leaving him for another guy.

Can you wait until Halloween? At my church I have this function at my church called “Trunk or Treat”. This function is for any kid or adult who wants to come Trick or Treating. All the parents line their cars and open their trunks and the kids come barreling out of the church door and run to the cars to get their candy. I love to go to this event because I love to get candy, and I like to see all the little kids’ costumes. The little kids are always so cute, with their lady bug, Buzz Light-year, Princess’s and Super Ninja Turtle costumes.

I always get this sweet from this one particular trunk that’s a cinnamon bun. They are soooo good, with raisins and butter, but put them in the microwave and you have a real good tasty treat!

There is also a haunted trailer, there every year and ya know people get scared but really it’s not scary at all. Yea there’s some flashing lights and people grabbing at your feet. Once you go through it once you just half to go back because it’s just so fun to go through this trailer. This year I don’t know what I will be for Halloween but I think I should get a move on with my costume. It’s only a week and a half away. What is everyone going to be for Halloween ??

My Way too Busy Summer -- 09-21-11

My September freewrite :)

For my summer vacation I went a lot of places! Like Chicago IL, and Breckenridge Co. In Chicago IL I went to the Shedd Aquarium, and the Brookfield Zoo. The Shedd aquarium was my favorite part of the whole trip!! Mainly because I got to see a dolphin show. At the zoo we also saw a dolphin show to but the one at the aquarium was my favorite.

While I was in Colorado I was going to my Aunt and Uncles wedding, that was beautiful. I cried during the cermony and the reception. I really don't know why I cried I just did. I got to cross the Continental Divide while I was on my journeys in Colorado. I also got to see my cousins that are four and two years old, they were a whole lot of fun :). Going to Colorado was bacisally my last horra of summer for me. I was sad to half to come home to all the flooding and stuff, but I am glad everyone in my neighbor hood was safe and sound.

I had a great time Going to Chicago and Colorado, I would love to go back to both places again soon! I would recomend these trips to anyone who likes to travel like me!.

A Tidbit of My Life ! -- 09-19-04

A Visual Representation of me!

HIIII my name is Celia, and my favorite animal is a dolphin. To start off I choose a picture that represents my personality. I ended up choosing a picture of nature. I mainly chose this picture because I am very shy and quiet like of nature.

For my favorite quotation I chose “Oh darling don’t you ever grow up don’t you ever grow up, just stay this little” From "Never Grow up" by Taylor Swift. This quote means a lot to me because my mom always keeps telling me to stop growing up, and to stay the age that I am now. This quote just instantly comes to my mind when someone asks what your favorite quote is.

Goodnight Moon Margaret Wise Brown is the story that my Mom always read to me when I was little. She would always read it to me at night to help me go to sleep, or just when I wanted her to.

I chose the word “Poetry” for a picture because I love to write poems. I started to write Poetry my seventh grade year and can’t stop!

For my whatever picture I chose a picture of a softball that has the quote inside it “ Don’t you wish you hit like a girl?” this picture suits me very well because I have been playing softball for seven years and just cant get enough of it!!!

There’s a little history or tidbit of my life, if you would like to know more about me just comment or ask!!
