Missing My Fave Teachers And Friends -- 05-15-12

I thought 7th grade was pretty fun despite the ups and downs of it. The things that were successful were making new friends, trying to solve new problems that came along with being a 7th grader, and totally having better grades than last year. The thing that wasn't successful was me trying to get into a higher range for math test scores. What I learned academically is that I can push myself to do greater things than I have ever done before. What I learned personally is that I can give it my all and not really give it my all. I also learned that I personally should try to have a better attitude about things and try new things every once in awhile. What I would change is who I became in the first semester of the school year and have no missing assignments at all. There were some things I learned the hard way like having my phone on in my pocket in class and having too many missing assignments. Some things I would like to change or do in the 8th grade is accomplish the goal of not having any missing assignments and try to have a higher range for a math test grade. A piece of advice for incoming 7th graders is don't argue with somebody about something that's stupid regardless if they are younger than you or who started it. The key thing is don't continue the arguement and try to be the bigger person.

International Towne was different from every other thing I have done in my whole entire life. What I thought of the experience was this is great. When I learned about how to do my job I thought it sounded complicated, but when I found out what I really had to do it didn't sound that hard anymore. What I learned is why countries trade with other countries, the cultures for other countries, and how interdependence is involved in International Towne. If I could change anything about my visit to International Towne is I would do all of the culture activities I needed to do first then I would go and buy the things I wanted. The best part I think was my job, because I was under a lot of pressure and it helped me learn that I could be fast and efficient at the same time.

Tombs, Colloseums, and Artists Oh My! -- 05-02-12

World history influences our world today, because the technology that we have today developed from the technology that was in the medieval times. Why was King Tut's tomb such a big discovery? Well, King Tut's tomb was a big discovery, because originally it had been thought to be a myth and that other archeologists were trying to lead Howard Carter into a dead end. It was also such a big discovery, because it was the most intact tomb to have ever been discovered.

Some of the things I learned from some of the other 7th graders was about the Roman aqueducts, medieval food, the pyramids of Giza and more. Some of the more things I learned about some of the projects was that the Roman aqueducts were built out of stone, that after some of ancient tombs were built that they would kill and bury the workers so that they wouldn't give away the location of the tomb, last thing I learned was the meaning behind King Tut's death mask.

My topic has created change for me, because the original topic I was going to do was the mask of Tutankhamun and what the meaning was behind it, but I couldn't any information on it. So I decided to King Tut's Tomb. My final project is coming along great my dad gives me his opinions on it whil I work on it for two hours a day during the weekend. It is going to help answer my question by helping me understand my project more fully than I ever thought I would. My project is almost ready and I think when I finish my museum display my project will be more than ready, it will be finished. I think this whole project has made a major impact on me, because I learned more about my topic than I thought I would learn.

They keep saying 'She's gotta be frozen, because she broke the number 1 law' I have no idea what their talking about can you please tell me what it might be about?" After Panina finishes talking Brianna says, "Panina they are saying that, because I wasn't supposed to talk to you or let you in my house, but I did. So, I must pay the price. I am so sorry and those men are the queen's evil hench men.

We "played" with the chicken wings to find out how muscles work. What I thought was that is was fun and gross at the same time. I think it was worthwhile. I think it was better than reading or watching a movie about muscles, because we got to experience it ourselves. I learned that muscles are connected to tendons and tendons are connected to the bone.
Ernest Green.....OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! -- 04-04-12

When we watched Ernest Green I thought it was a touching story to me. What I would have done is ask them “Who do you think we’re talking to?’ those kids who thought they could do what they wanted to The Little Rock Nine. I think I would’ve had the courage to fight back, because I am a person who will not back away without a fight. I believe everybody should fight for their rights and no matter what anybody says to you doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to be treated like everybody else just because of the color of your skin or because of your religion. What I thought was that the things the Caucasian children were telling The Little Rock Nine was not okay, because if I were to have said that to someone from one of my old schools I know what would happen and that out come would not have been very pretty. So, the main thing I am trying to say is that the way they were speaking to The Little Rock Nine was not okay and will never be in my eyes. Things have changed today, because there isn’t as much racism today as there was during the time when segregation was going on in the schools as well as in the business world. Some things haven’t changed though, because some people are still racist against the blacks and that is not appreciated. I also do not approve of what the high school students said to The Little Rock Nine, because I am related to black people and that is not okay if someone insults someone all, because of their skin color. I will not tolerate it, because of who I am related to. I still believe that there are other instances of discrimination going on in the world today, because some people believe that anybody who is a Muslim is part of the Taliban all because of what happened on 9/11.

What I have learned about this unit is that seeing the organisms in the microscope have made me very interested in the subject of micro-science.

Brianna let her go in and asked her "How did you appear into our world? Why did you come to my house?" Panina answered "I fell into a hole in the bend of a tree. I came to your house, because it was the only house within miles." Brianna thought that was nonsense. She knew there were about 15-20 houses on her way to the Brianna's house. She decided to let Panina explain herself over tea. While Panina and Brianna had tea Panina explained she was just playing outside while thinking that the bend of the tree was just that instead it was a hole. After Panina asked Brianna if she could stay at her house for the night. Fortunatly Brianna told her that she could. A little bit later Brianna decided that she needed some sleep. She told Panina not to stay up too late. A few minutes later Panina decided to get ready for bed. While Panina was getting ready for bed Panina heard a really weird noise. Panina decided to investigate what it was. When she went downstairs she saw that it was.....

Oh How You Have Inspired Me Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. -- 01-19-12

The quote I chose this week was "Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a a friend." By Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. What I think it means is that love is the only force that can force you to become friends with someone you never thought you would be friends with. How I could apply it to my life is try to have someone who isn't my friend and try to be friends with them instead of trying to avoid them. How it could be used positively to change someone's attitude is by saying you know instead of not trying to be friends consider this quote and see how you can apply it to your life. I would also think that one day when someone doesn't have any friends or they need help and while you're helping them try to get to know them better you think you know them instead of just assuming what you know about that person. It can make an impact on the world by people joining together and becoming one instead of being multiple. We should try something different everyday in our lives, because we only live once.

Working on the wiki went great. The way it worked in our group was different, because one of our people that was in our group was in Louisiana and was a lot harder that way. The communication in our group was effective. What went well was getting our video done on time. Some things we could have done differently were trying to get more work done everyday that we had the time to do it. Some ways to improve the project for next year’s students is maybe add a thing where it a quote that the poet made at the top under the poet’s name.

When she couldn't keep her balance she just decided that instead of trying to walk in this fantasy land that she should just crawl instead. After she decided to start crawling she said to herself that it would be a good idea to see if she could find anybody in this fantasy. When she was exploring this land she started to see tiny footprints on the ground so she decided to follow them and see where they led to.
Mysteries, Mysteries Hmm?? -- 11-11-11

One of the bests mysteries I have ever read was probably Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning. The author Lemony Snicket made it to where after every chapter you would want to keep reading and you would always be at the edge of your seat. I just loved this story, because you never knew what was going to happen after.

Johnny runs out of the room. Sara follows. She is following Johnny to figure out what is going to happen to their relationship, but when she turns the cornera creature pops out and drags her against the floor of the hotel. While she is being dragged on the floor she yells "Johnny help me! Johnny!" Johnny hears her cries and starts running in the direction he heard them. But, when he turns the exact same corner she did he gets dragged against the hotel floor, too. He tires fighting back but the creature's grip gets tighter and tighter. Finally, he is knocked unconscious by hitting his head on some stairs. When he finally reaches consciousness he finds himself in a medal chair next to Sara in a dark room regretting what he said.

My Feelings on Blogging -- 11-02-11

My experiences with blogging is something I really love doing, because instead of using a pen/pencil and paper to write you get to use your fingers and a keyboard. Plus, the thing about it is that your fingers flow easier on the keyboard instead of holding a pencil for a long time. I mean who doesn't like using a keyboard and your fingers? Even after your still writing on the keyboard for awhile your fingers don't hurt unlike writing with a pen/pencil and paper. Who agrees? Some of the things I have learned about when you're blogging is that you always want to make sure you write in microsoft word or microsoft works word processor so that you can check your spelling for your blog before you put it in the article box for it to be posted to your blog. Honestly what I'm saying is that you should have fun blogging and you should always go back and reread your blog posts.

Romeo and Juliet HUH?? -- 10-11-11

The book I have been reading lately is Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”. I just love “Romeo and Juliet”. I think it is so amazing. The things I am enjoying about “Romeo and Juliet” are that I can just read it in modern English right next to what Shakespeare wrote. I think that is the beauty of being able to translate what Shakespeare wrote from a long time ago to what we are used to hearing now. The thing I don’t like about “Romeo and Juliet” is that sometimes it doesn’t even make sense of what they are saying, but I just keep reading on and then I go back to the modern English translation to understand what is being said. I think anybody who likes to anything about Shakespeare or something Shakespeare wrote then you should read this book. I also found at the public library when I was trying to do some research on “Hamlet” instead I found “Romeo and Juliet”. Read this book and understand “Romeo and Juliet” more than you ever thought you would.

Have you ever heard of the story about the little girl who fell down into the hole that came from a tree? Well, if you haven’t here it is. One day in a country called Orange Plains. I know it’s the weirdest name to ever have for a country, but I thought it fit. Anyways, this little girl’s name is Panina. She decided to play outside. So when she went outside to play she decided to climb a tree. When see saw a hole in the tree she thought it was just like that, because the tree got hit with lightning or something. So she decided to step in it. Well it turns out Panina isn’t a very smart girl so far or as that seems. Just wait and see. Back to the story as Panina is falling down the hole she feels like she is getting smaller and smaller. As soon as she stops falling and is able to stand up she looks around. All she sees is something small and tiny… it’s a key, but when she tries to pick it up she cannot grab it. Soon enough she realizes that when she fell she fell into some fantasy world…..

My favorite part of the field trip was the team building activities, because when we did the team building activities we may have gotten frustrated but we always ended up finding a way to fix it and get through it. I thought that team building activities were the most fun, because people kept finding different ways to have fun and learn how well you work with different people than the ones you feel most comfortable around. I learned that plants and animals have to adapt to their surroundings so that they can survive in the area they live in. I also learned that sometimes the animal population decreases, because there aren’t enough resources for the whole population to survive. I don't think I could survive in the nature world, because I love to wear really bright colors. I think we should always find a way to enrich our activities in class more with some more field trips.

I feel very grateful that books aren’t banned. The Freedom of Speech falls into this, because when people are writing books they are writing their thoughts down and that’s just like saying your thoughts out loud to where someone can hear them. We all have the choice to choose. It’s not like that our parents say that we can’t read certain books just because of how old we are. Although our parents can choose which books that we can read or we can’t read because of the contents in them. I think if your parents say you can’t read a book, because its too mature for you than fine ban that book until you are old enough and mature enough to read that kind of book. WE SHOULD NEVER BAN BOOKS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Experience with Rachel's Challenge -- 09-07-11

What I contemplated about the Rachel’s Challenge production last week was that it was extraordinarily genuine and poignant. I thought what Rachel was trying to accomplish was something really amazing to me. I thought it was worthwhile, because we can all feel safe and comfortable as long as we all do our part. I thought it was needed to bring it to our attention so that we may be able to all do our part and see how Rachel was able to achieve what she wanted to in her short life. I think it was very effective, because everybody at our school has started showing more acts of kindness than there were before. What I took away from this presentation was that we should always be showing acts of kindness no matter what. I will start performing pre-acceptance, because pre-acceptance is better than pre-judging. I think that we all should start changing and doing things differently so that we may be like Rachel and start a chain reaction.
