So Thankful It's The End! -- 05-21-12

I think that 7th grade went well, until the end of 3rd quarter I didn’t keep up so much on my language arts homework. Mostly the blogs. Other than that it went well. I feel like I was very successful in my work and kept up with it. The only thing that wasn’t very successful was language arts. Honestly I would rather do written assignments because I forget about the blogs. Academically I learned more about Rome and Greece than I ever have before. I have never really gone into too much detail about Rome or Greece so doing that World History Fair on Rome was a lot of fun. Personally I learned more about friendship and how in middle school mostly you find out who your true friends are and who will be there for you. If I could go back and change anything, again it would be the blogs and keeping up with them. I learned the hard way that if you wait till the last minute to do things that it will come back and hurt you in the long run. In 8th grade I’m going to make sure I keep up with my missing assignment (if I have any.) And I am really looking forward to doing yearbook next year and being with all my friends.

I loved I-towne! The experience and the things they taught you was amazing and fun! If I could have changed anything it would be my job. I loved it I just wish I had a more fun and more like-me job. The best part was the tart slushes! Those were really good!

World history influences our lives today because it gave us a bit of culture from our past. Without history we wouldn’t be at that part in our lives that we are today. Why was the Pantheon important to the Romans? I learned it was important because it is the single oldest building in the world that is still architecturally intact. The most interesting part for me was how much energy it saves. It has a enormous dome at the top that brings in light so less energy is used. I found out that it was made by 2 people. A man first made it but because or its poor construction a later emperor rebuilt it.
I learned that Marco Polo isn’t just a game. I always thought that was all it was but I found out it was a man! Cameron had an amazing project! With his I learned more about the Japanese Architecture and how spectacular it is. It has so much beauty. I saw that his museum project had almost points at the corners and had a very unique design.

I enjoy all the different perspectives in the book and the stories of them all. I think it is about a community of people who all have a reason to plant a seed or contribute in a way to the garden. My favorite character is Curtis, because he is planting his seeds for love. He has a beautiful story and reason for the garden. I loved how creative the activities were. My favorites were the tin flowers, the rock painting, the seed bombs, and the worms. I loved these because it really made me feel like I was helping to make the world more beautiful.

My topic is the Pantheon of Rome, at first I wanted to do roman architecture but just went with one building. I found out that it is the oldest building in the world and that it had two creators! A man first made it but it was so poorly constructed that emperor Hadrain, had to remake it with concrete. My project is good and I am being very aware of my time. My topic isn’t very broad so it is easy to answer the question. I am almost ready I just have to finish my 3D part.

I am really looking forward to summer! I love 7th grade but summer couldn’t come soon enough! I am looking forward to the hot days, hanging with friends, and the nice pool. Summer is the best part of the year because I can handle the heat but not the cold to well. I sewar I should be a Florida or California girl!

It was fun to see the inside and how the leg actually works. Although it was gross and sad to cut up a chicken, it was fun because I learned a lot on how the leg works in chickens. It was worth while because I did learn a lot and was fun. One of the things that I learned most was how there are so many protective layers of skin even in chicken.

Well, being African American it was sad to see how the children were treated. I had no idea how much hate people could have. I know that I would have never had the courage to what they did. I would have gone back to my original school after the first day because of the discrimination that the children were introduced to. I feel like I am very lucky to be a part of this generation where there isn’t as much hate. I know that racism is taught. You are not born to hate, in those days kids were so influenced by what they see their parents doing. Although you should carry on with your family’s religious beliefs, hate should not be passed on. Today we see these stories and cannot believe what kind of discrimination and hate is within people and now that everything is mixed, one person and their life isn’t more important that another’s. In Mr. Howards TCAP class we talked about the many kinds of discrimination that we have today and one of the main topics was special needs people. They are some of the most discriminated people in this generation. Racism towards black obviously still remains today and because things like this gets passed down from generation to generation it will probably always be around. I know that last year I got a racist letter through my locker and it really opened my eyes to how we need to except each other for how we are and know that just because you hurt someone verbally that it just makes them stronger and more knowledgeable.

I am so mad at myself right now because I forgot what book I just read and really loved. But right now I am reading Judy Blume’s Super Fudge. I like the jokes and how I can relate to Peter being sometimes frustrated with his parents. I just love fudge’s character. My favorite line from fudge is when he says, “ M-a-i-n-e spells Maine, F-u-d-g-e spells fudgy, P-e-t-e-r spell Pe-tah, and B-e-e-r spells whiskey.” He is also so funny when he does something wrong the puts on his best-little- boy voice.

As everyone knows I am a sports girls so here it is, I love sports! Mr. Howard thinks that soccer isn’t a real sport. I don’t know why but that is just his opinion because he is jealous that his sport (football) isn’t a nationally played sport. I mean you never year of the world cup for football. I play soccer, volleyball, and basketball and I’m pretty sure that the only one he will watch is basketball because he coaches it. Well Mr. Howard, I am not the only person in 7th grade at Mountain Ridge that plays soccer. Infact they are a lot of people. Anyways that is my statement so, bye!

1)-I think that “ Believe you can and you’re halfway there” means that If you believe you can, then means that the impediment that you have will shorten if your energy stays high. I can apply it to my life because even though I have a severe injury I have to stay positive and believe I will get better it will come soon. I think that any injury can get better and you will find a positive side to it. I think it can impact the world because if many people don’t look for the bright things in life then the world will be a dark place.

My goal for the new year is to now get through my injury. This injury is going to take a lot of time to recover so my daily life of sports are really going to change. I am use to a weekend full of sports so now that I am not participating in my sports I am going to have a lot more free time on my hands to maybe try another hobby or maybe even get to hang out with the friends that I only hang with at school. So I might be out from what I am used to but it might give me a chance to try new things.

I guess three things I am really thankful for are my family my friends and to play the sports I do that I love.
I am really thankful for my family. They are always been there for me and I really appreciate it. Even though I fight with my brothers I still care about them and I know they care about me. I know that not every family is complete like mine so I am really thankful for that.
I am also really thankful for my friends. They are always there to support me. They always bring me up when I’m down. I’m sure there are people in the world that don’t have as many friends as I do, whether that’s because they aren’t the social butterfly that I am or that they don’t have the chance to have friends but I know I am so lucky to have friends.
Lastly I am thankful for my sports. Without sports not only would I not be at this school but I would not know the people I do. Sports bring great joy to my life and I am truly thankful for that. I play soccer, basketball, and volleyball and I make so any friends not only on y team but on other teams to.
This Thanksgiving I will be sure to be thankful for all the great things in my life.

Honestly I really don’t like blogging. As you know I often forget and my computer has glitches so I cant always do it. I would rather write out things in class because of how busy I am with my other classes and my sports. I also if we do have to do it not to have certain assignments but to choose what to write about more often. I have had many problems with logging in and being able to do it. I like writing on paper more than blogging. I know we have to do some topics that you choose but I think that we need to be able to write on our own more often than not.

Personally I’m not the biggest book fan but books shouldn’t be banned. I think it is great that we don’t ban books. I read occasionally and when I do I am pleased hear the stories. I think we can live with some books that we don’t like not being banned, it won’t kill anyone. Freedom of speech comes into this because people who like books have a say in if we ban books or not. So I think it's good we have books around!

I had such a great time at Fox Run National Park. I thought at first it was cold but then it warmed up! The best part I think was the team building part, I love team building. I always feel closer to my classmates when we do them. I loved Oh Deer and the camouflage game. This games really stimulate how animals live and adapt.

I understand where they get this answer but they did the division wrong, for example 21/7. You take 7 and the long way would to multiply it by 1 more till you get 21, 7x1=7,7x2=14, and 7x3=21. To make it even longer you can add. 7+7=14, and 7+7=14+7=21.

The funniest/strangest thing that ever happened to me, well that’s hard because there is many but the most strangest/funniest thing that ever happened to me was when I was at the park and when I thought I saw my mom I ran up to her and gave her this huge hug and I also, jumped on her back and she just kept screaming. When I got off of her back and looked at her I realized she wasn’t my mom. I felt so stupid, I wanted to disappear. After I talked to her and told her I thought she was my mom she said she wouldn’t press charges. This was the most strangest and funniest by far!

I thought the presentation was very emotional because I cried. This year, and last year’s presentation was very emotional and very worthwhile. I think it is very needed because it makes kids aware and teaches kids, and adults to be nicer to others and how kindness can make a change in someone’s life. Rachel’s Challenge is very effective and I know it has definitley affected me, I am trying to be nicer to others. One of the things I took away from this presentation is how being nicer can change the world.
