The End for Better or Worse -- 05-21-12

This seventh grade year was surprisingly really fun. I expected this year to be filled with a boat load of homework, and to be very boring. But it was actually filled with many laughs and good memories. I really enjoyed playing school sports and meeting new friends. Academically I learned to always study for a test, but personally I learned that throughout the years you will make new friends but your best friends will always stay with you. Also I learned about the importance of friends. If I could change one thing this year I would have been nicer to people because sometimes I was really mean. In 8th grade I want to get all A’s again and I want to make even more friends. For all of the 6th graders who want to survive 7th grade, they shouldn’t chew gum and they shouldn’t talk when the teachers talking. Those are the things that make teachers the most mad. This year has been really memorable and I will really miss all of the teachers and all of the students who are moving.

Smallest Towne In the World -- 05-15-12

International Towne was a lot smaller than I expected. As finance minister of Germany my job was to keep track of all the money and make sure we made a profit. That was a relatively easy job. During this field trip I learned the importance of relationships between countries. Countries depend on each other for money and supplies. Something that I would definitely change is the break time I would make it longer because it was very hard to get in six cultural activities and make it back on time. But with that aside, International Towne was a really entertaining experience.
If I was in Ernest's shoes, I would have beaten the crud out off the guys teasing me. Being in the conditions there were in would make it very tough not to fight back. I admire Ernest, and the for staying strong and fighting through the pain. The discrimination is today’s world is a lot better, but we still have it. We have come a fair way in the world, and hopefully someday we will get rid of discrimination completely! (what a lovely place the world would be then)

Lately I’ve been reading a fictional book by the author that visited our school not too long ago. His name is Scott Appleton and I managed to get a signed copy from him. The book is called Swords of the Six and it’s really good. Swords of the Six is the first in a seven book series called The Sword of the Dragon.

Yes Mrs.Lubich we did dissect chicken wings. It was very………. educational. I’m not the kind to go out and slaughter chickens for a bunch of middle school kids to cut apart with scissors, but I learned a lot. Learning how the muscles controlled the bones was the most interesting part. I personally am not going to form an opinion on whether the dissection was “worth it” but if you want to it basically comes down to whether you value the hands on learning or the chickens life more. Hmmm sounds like a perfect time to uncover some more about yourself and your personality. (If you do that stuff)

An Example of figurative language is rhyming or simile. An example of rhyming is a poem is ,” There once was a big brown cat / That liked to eat a lot of mice./ He got all round and fat / Because they tasted so nice.” By anonymous Poets can use these things to create an effect in their writing that displays what they are trying to get across to the reader.

The quote that stuck me the most was "Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend." Martin Luther King, Jr. I think that this quote means that if you loved everyone you would have no enemies. I could definitely apply this quote to my life as (sadly) there are a lot of people who strongly dislike me and I strongly dislike them. If I could only show them love we could become better friends. It could definitely change many people all over the world if everyone could just show each other love (or friendship if love isn’t your style). Everyone would be friends and no one would hate each other. Just imagine that!

The poetry wiki wasn’t so bad. We got everything finished so it went well. Working in a group and only having the wiki to communicate wasn’t so bad. I’d say that the communication went well. Having 160 discussions certainly helps. All of it really went well, we had an unexpected error with the photostory but other than that it was good. If I had to do it all over again I would keep it the same, because it went well.

Greece -- 12-08-11

Greece was the greatest empire of its time. Greece was a very interesting country. It was divided into city-states which were like modern day counties. For example: El Paso county or Fairfax county. The Greeks had a very universal religion. If you lived in Greece you believed the same as everyone else. The Greeks believed in many gods. Each god had its own specialty. An example of this is the Greek god Ares. He was believed to have been the god of war who controlled and turned the tide if battle. That sums up what I know about Greece.

We have been doing a lot of fun things in social studies on the topic of ancient Greece. Some of the things we get to do are: create a logo, find a way to show unity, create a chant/cheer, and compete in Olympic events. There are also some added rules that have to be followed: females have to be “escorted” into the classroom by males, at the end of each day you have to roll dice to find out “your fate” that the gods bestow upon you, and the teacher is your leader and you must follow their direct instructions.

The F-22 -- 11-29-11

Well I guess I’ll write about the F-22 Raptor. It’s one of my favorite planes and It’s also the military’s best plane. When the Air Force demanded a new fighter they had some requirements that had to be met. The F-22 meets all of the expectations: It can go mach 1 without afterburner. It is undetectable with radar. It includes thrust vectoring. And It holds enough fuel for a very long flight. The only issue with the F-22 is that it costs a lot and when I say a lot I mean a lot. A single F-22 costs 150 million US dollars. None the less the F-22 is the only 5th generation fighter in existence and I think it will stay that way for a long time.

Mystery -- 11-07-11

Well let’s start off with the fact that I despise mysteries, I absolutely hate them, but I will do what is required for school. The best “mystery” that I’ve read so far is the "Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allan Poe. The reason for this is because it isn’t a mystery at all. Its pure suspense but if Mrs.Lubich wants to call it a mystery that is fine by me. There is absolutely no mystery element in the Pit and the Pendulum which is why I like it. Here is a mystery starter worthy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

"The Stalking Silhouette"

One night I was out walking and I saw a mysterious silhouette sprinting stealthily across the rooftops. He/she was not making any noise, I only say him/her by chance. After seeing the mysterious figure I arrived at my apartment. For the next several days I have gone outside to try and spot the figure again, but with no luck. This is indeed a peculiar situation.

Blogging -- 11-01-11

This is how I would describe blogging, but for sake of interest I’ll add some more.

“Never before have so many people with so little to say said so much to so few.”

I don’t particularly enjoy blogging but it is a decent way to communicate. I’m never actually had problems with blogging but I prefer face to face talking instead. There’s nothing really wrong with blogging but it is still better to talk face to face because you can exchange information instead of just putting the information out there. The idea of a blog as a writing assignment isinteresting but it’s not actually writing its typing. So I don’t think it should be counted as a writing assignment. We should start blogging more stuff about ourselves. That’s what blogging was created for? Right?

Why remember? -- 10-24-11

My first paragraph is as follows:

Why is it important to remember? Memory is everything. If humans had no memory every day you would have to learn your ABCs. Learned them one day the next day you wouldn’t remember so you would have to learn them again. Without memory the world would completely change. You should allways remember beacuse, what you remember determines who you are and what you will be!
If you are reading this please remember to remember the veterans who have died for us and our country. Also if your reading this provide feedback and tell me how I can improve.

THE DEBATE -- 10-20-11

This week the Presidential debate has reached
new standards. There were personal references and insults thrown at each other. The most noticeable was the debate on Tuesday when Rick Perry and Mitt Romney heated up. They both got a run for their money, it was wild. They both accused each other partaking in illegal events. That is news!!I thought it was foolish to have these kinds of people deciding "whats best" for our country. They need to grow up and get some sense. They need to rule responsibly and get done what needs to be done not trying to please the people and become president.

Deadliest weapon -- 10-03-11

I had to do this for enrichment so I thought I
would share it with everyone. :)

Boasting a lethal number of mini-guns, cannons and howitzers, the AC-130 Gunship has earned a reputation as one of the deadliest combat weapons on the planet.

The AC-130 gunship was created because the U.S Air Force needed a new ground attack air craft that was big and could fly long distances. The AC-130 is a modified version of Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules transport plane. . The aircraft got its weapons from Boeing who is responsible for transforming the transport plane into a gunship.

The AC-130 was designed to, in combat missions to provide support to other aircraft and soldiers fighting on the ground. It dose it job very well. The U.S. Air Force is the only user of the AC-130 Gunship. The aircraft comes in two variants. In order for the AC-130 to fly it requires a crew of 13 people. The weapons on the AC-130 range from 25 millimeter Gatling guns to 105 millimeter howitzers; the AC-130 has a reputation for delivering punishing assaults in combat zones.

Along with providing firepower, the AC-130 gunship has impressed the U.S. Air Force because of its ability to operate in extreme weather conditions and fly for long periods of time at night. Equipped with advanced sensors, scanners and radar, the aircraft is able to tell the difference between teammates and enemies from great distances. This makes the AC-130 one of the best among conventional military aircraft.
The AC-130 Gunship has been criticized for being too heavily armed and providing an overwhelming display of force. However, the Air Force has wanted in recent years to add more firepower to the aircraft.

In the future, the U.S. Air Force announced that it will upgrade the armaments on the AC-130 Gunship. The aircraft’s howitzers will be replaced with 120 millimeter mortars and Hellfire missiles. The Air Force will also add Viper Strike Glide Bombs and an Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System to the aircraft. All together, these additions will make the AC-130 Gunship an even more formidable piece of weaponry.
