I went to the science museum for a field trip. I had a great time. My favorite part of the museum was the hamster wheel i got to go in. It was my favorite because i liked running around in it acting like I was a hamster. it also was a simple machine, it was an wheel and axel but their was no axel. I also saw another simple machine and it was a ships steering wheel. And it was also an wheel and axel. It was just a fake boat i think though, but it was still really cool and big. The museum was reaaallllyyyy cool and i look forward to seeing it again.

Once their was a poor poor man. That poor man only had one friend and that one friend was a lizard. The texture of the lizards skin was very different from the other lizards, it was bumpy poka-dots! The man and the lizard always took a launt to k-mart at 3:15 consistently to use the only money they had to buy lotto tickets but the poor man nerver won. Today was a different day. The poor man was vivaacious today.He was very amiable today he was laughing and smiling to everyone and everyone was say hi back to him and smiling too! So when it came to 3:15 and when he bought his daily lotto ticket. He was indomitable.He knew he would win. When he finished scratching it he got all 3's! He had won 5,000,000 dollars! He ran out with his lizard to go buy his new house right away. A week later he went on an expedition to Africa to help the poor and when he came back he threw a huge extravaganza for all his friends. And then lived happily ever after!

Clunk...! Oops, I dropped my pencil and their goes my teacher to pick it up! Do your teachers stop what their doing to pick up your pencil?! Well there great! Greenbriar is awesome for one main reason, the teachers!

The teachers are so helpful and nice because if you lose your book report guide they will always have copies for you to use, so then you don’t get a bad grade for the book report! If your are having a little trouble in a subject, they will help you separately so you can really understand it better, and that helps a lot because then you can get a better grade on you report card. The teachers will also always be their for wether it’s having trouble with your friends, or even if it’s out of school! They will let you go to a special teacher called the feelings person to help you, so your problems don’t distract your work! That can help a lot because when you get distracted with your feelings it can effect your grade and then you might have to get held back!

RINNGG!... look at the time.. 3:15! Gotta go! Schools over!! See you at school!

The Markowitz family had a pretty tough life because they had to learn to adjust to a new country they've never been to. but they liked the new place they were at because in Russia they had no freedom and in America they can have all the freedom they want. I thought they'd never learn how to adjust to the new country they were in but they did! They got jobs their and they learned that a lot of other people came to a America too for the same reasons they came for which was, they weren't treated right for their religion and if they were poor or not. I think the Markowitz family is very brave for trying a new thing and then adjusting to it so easily and fast.

Once there was a yummy restaurant. A lot of people liked the restaurant. Everyone knew about the restaurant. One day a family moved to the town and their favorite thing to do was going to restaurants. So one day they saw the famous restaurant. The family looked keenly at the restaurant. They decided to give it a try so they went into the restaurant. The father scrutinized the menu. At first the mother was in a quandary in deciding what she wanted. Once the family finished they asked for the bill and when the waitress came over she screamed! The family scarcely touched the food!!!!! The family said that it did have a plentiful amount of food but they really didn’t like it! The waitress elucidated to the manager about what the family had said about their food. The manager came over to the table they were sitting at and said to go to this different restaurant but it would be venture to get their because they had to go over a bridge that had fallen over a couple of times. So the family got in their car and drove of to the other restaurant. But guess what!!! The manager lied twice! First, their was no restaurant and second their was no bridge!!!

I just started this book jamie and his brother TJ were born at an army place because his mom is their and TJ gets to go to Vietnam but Jamie doesn't get to go even though he really wants to. But Why won't they let Jamie go? i mean if he says he's really ready for it then why not? I predict that Jamie will get to go to the army soon and he will get to see his brother their and his brother will be so surprised!

I LOVE THIS BOOK IM READING!!! It is the best book ever! They have a lot of weird characters but that makes it so much more interesting. I think louis is not going to change after awhile because he did some pretty bad thing to Mrs.Drazil so i think hes going to stay all fancy and a safe person instead of a goofy funny guy. This book IS SOOO GOOD I CANT STAND IT!

In school we are learning a lot of things of course but I will only talk about a couple of things. In math we did a lab and the lab was to put marbles in a graduated cylinder and see if the water would rise and we would have to answer a question like why would the water be rising when you put the marbles in? We figured it out after a while. The answer was that the water rises because afteryouput marbles in the cylinder the marbles would make the water rise because the marbles take up space so it forces the water to go up! We are also still working on colonies, and we went to the computer lab to work on keynote to make more info about our colonies. We also had to watch a video about our region and mine is New England because I'm studying the colony Connecticut. In weather we are learning so much like humidity, rain gauges and like how do rain and wind form? We are writing it all down and soon we are going to have a test on it! And thats basically what we are learning in class!

Today we went to see Ginger Zee. She taught us about weather because she is an meteorologist. She showed us how to predict weather. She also told us where she was born and how she stared her career. Ginger also told us that when she was little like eight years old she and her brother went to the beach and saw a they saw a huge water spout witch kind of looks like a geyser. She was on a lot of different T.V shows too. I never new you had to know so much science and math to be a meteorologist, I thought they told you what the weather was going to be I didn't know she had to find it out herself! I can't wait to see myself on T.V because she told us she was going to take a picture of us and put it on T.V

I have just finished reading chapters 12-14 in frindle. Nicks dad is about to sign a contract so everyone in china can know the new word frindle. Nicks dad wasn't so sure if he should sign it but the Bud Lawrence said that nick could earn a lot of money for doing it so nicks dad signed the contract. But i think it's weird that nicks dad (mr. Allen) didn't even ask nick if nick wanted to do it. I don't think Mrs. Granger is gonna give up on trying to get rid of the word frindle even though everyone in china is about to know about it.

Frindle 15 -- 02-10-11

I have just finished reading the last chapters in frindle. I learned that if you have an idea and if you want people to know about it you have to stick with your idea and don't give up on it. Even if your idea doesn't work out well, at least you know you tried. Just like in the book, Nick stuck to his plan to make pens into frindle's and soon his word got around town and then it got almost all the way around the world! And soon Nick stopped trying so hard and then he just kind of let the word flow and then it just got easy on him. I had a great experience reading this book.

I just finished reading chapters 9-11 in Frindle. The principal Mrs. Chatham has just came to Nick's house to talk about the word Frindle he created. I thought Nick was gonna be in big trouble but then Nick's mom steps in and asks Mrs. Chatham why does nick have to be in big trouble when he was just being creative by making up a new word? And Mrs. Chatham totally agreed! So Nick didn't come in big trouble and I wold be totally freaked out if my principal walked in and said i was in big trouble but the agreed that i wasn't! A reporter named Judy Morgan just came into Nicks school and went strait to Mrs. Grangers room to ask all sorts of question about the new word Frindle. But the one question that popped out the most to Mrs. Granger was the question of who made this word Frindle? Well I thought she was gonna be tired of talking about it and want to stop the interview but she told Judy everything about Nick and his new word Frindle.

Frindle 5-8 -- 01-31-11

I have just finished reading chapters 5-8 on the book Frindle. Nick and his friend Janet found a pen on the ground so Nick decides to name it Frindle. But where would NIck find a name like that? The next day Nick calls a bunch of his friends and they all make up a plan. So Nick goes to a store and asks for a black Frindle. The lady at the front desk had know idea what he was talking about, and I wouldn't either I mean a random kid walks up and asks for a black Frindle? But anyway Nick goes to hide behind a clothes rack and his friend comes up a couple minutes later to the same lady and asks for a Frindle too! The lady knew exactly what he was talking about! The next day at school Nick and his friends drove Mrs. Granger crazy by calling all their pens a Frindle. If I didn't know what a Frindle was too and if I was the English teacher too I would probably rip my head off.

I am reading the book Frindle. Right now Nick is finding out about the fifth grade language art teacher. He knows he has to do an essay on where did the english words come from? I think either Nick is gonna try to get out of doing the test or I think he might fail it. Mrs.Granger thinks every student should have a dictionary in their house or they won't be a proper student. But I'm thinking what if you don't have a dictionary?! Will she kick you out of the class or something? Oh, ya did I tell you Mrs. Granger is obsessed with dictionaries! She has a dictionary so big that two kids had to carry it! It's the first day of school for nick and he's really nerves but I don't think he is because the first thing he says to Mrs. Granger is why do you have so many dictionaries it's kind of weird. All of the kids in his class laugh but I almost think it's rude. I think Nick will have a good time and make Mrs. Granger go crazy at the same time.

I am reading how to steal a dog. It is about a girl named Georgina a boy named Toby and they call their mom mama. They live in a car parked in front of a drug store. Georgina didn't want anyone to know where she lived so she never told anyone, she told her friend she lived in her apartment but she didn't tell anyone she got kicked out of the apartment. But one day her best friend (Luanne) followed her all the way home and she saw the car Georgina was living in. Luanne didn't know what to say. But Georgina made her pinky promise that she wouldn't tell anyone. So Luanne did.

Georgina's mama worked two jobs trying to get a house or an apartment back. The night Georgina's best friend found out about her living in a car, she was quiet the rest of the day. And when her mama came back she ran out of the car and started screaming and crying about how she doesn't have a home. And then she asked what she asked all the time to her mama,"Why did daddy leave?" The Georgina and her mama just stood their until Georgina's mama broke the silence and said,"I wish I knew the answer to that."

That's all I've read so far but I think it is a great book and I would recommend this book to boys and girls and anyone who wants to read it.

P.S. I have no clue why it's called how to steal a dog yet but I'll have to find out!

In our class this week we are learning about Predicting and Colonies. In predicting we are just doing how to make an accurate good prediction and if it is confirmed or if it never came up in the story. Sometimes predictions never come true and some might be correct. A prediction is basically a guess. In colonies we are all studying a different colony. I am studying Connecticut. I have learned a lot about Connecticut like they buried their charter in an oak tree and then they called it the Charter Oak because the book said they didn't trust their government. I really like learning about Connecticut. I really like learning a lot of new things in school.

In class in a group I read a book called The Giant wave. It was a very good book. It was about a family that went on a vacation to Oregon. They were their because the Mom and Dad had to go on a cruise called the Elegant Empress and Kyle (the oldest) has to babysit his little sister BeeBee. BeeBee and Kyle get in a lot of trouble. They get caught in an earthquake and two tsunamis! The second tsunami was the hardest because they knew it was going to be almost two times bigger than the first one so they had to climb even farther inland. Their feet where already beat up enough from their first trip, so they were really tired. They finally had to stop so they hugged an oak tree till the tsunami hit. When the second tsunami hit it went all the way up to their ankles! And they were already so high from the beach so it was crazy! After the tsunamis were over they finally went back down and found their parents and everything was ok again. YIPPIE!

We learn a lot of things in fourth grade so I'll tell you somethings i'm learning about. In reading we are learning about predicting. It is when you think of something that is going to happen in the story and sometimes it can happen and sometimes it doesn't happen. Next we are learning about colonies, like Jamestown. We have learned a lot about Jamestown but the main thing is how they got their and what happened when they got their. They settlers came from London, England all the way to Virginia! When they finally got their they picked a horrible spot to set fort. The shape of the fort was a triangle and the reason why it was a horrible spot to pick was because the Native Americans shared the same land so the Native Americans attacked the settlers! In KIDsmarts we learned about setting goals. We put some goals on our assignment note book. One of the goals I picked was making sure I take out my DPP (a math packet) right away in the morning. Then for homework we have to pick five more goals to work on, I haven't deiced what my other five will be but I'm pretty sure over the weekend I'll know what to do. Thats what were working on in fourth grade!

Christmas

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas, every where we go! Oh, I just love Christmas for two reasons, snow and christmas eve dinner!

I like christmas for because of snow! To me I always think,” whats christmas without snow!” Well it would just be boring! I just love playing in the snow, I love building snow forts with my mom. Once I’m done playing in the snow I love coming inside to the warm toasty house to get warmed up and when I’m done getting warmed up I go outside to play again! Also when it’s snowy outside I LOVE going to my old preschool called mustard seed, because when it’s snowy out the snow plows come and they push all the snow off the parking lot theirs a huge mound of snow! It’s really close to my house so I always bring a friend so we can build something really cool like a house or something. I love the felling when snow falls on your face.

I also love christmas because of my family’s christmas eve dinner. The reason why our christmas eve dinner is so awesome is because normally my parents have crab legs and my brother sister and I usually have turkey or something but last year I tried crab legs a I fell in love! It’s so good especially when you dip it in warm butter! The smell is like a freshly baked batch of chocolate chip cookies it’s the same warm feeling of chocolate chip cookies. You just want to dive into them. And I love how we get to sit down as a family on Christmas eve because some people don’t get to. I love my christmas eve dinner an I hope you like yours too!

Oh I see the snow falling! I have to go. Mustard seed here I come!

I am reading Report to the principals office. It is about a bunch of sixth graders getting transferred to a new school because their was to many kids in their community so they had to build a new school. This one girl named sunny had to get transferred to the new school but her friend had to go to the old school so sunny is trying her hardest just to get expelled so she can be with her best friend again. On the other hand Eddie (another sixth grader) is having trouble finding his way to his class. He finds a kid and asks him where room 117 so the kid gives him directions but it turns out it was to the wrong places! So Eddie is running around everywhere just to find room 117 even though the bell already rang! Report to the Principals office is a really good book so you can try reading it too!

Grandma-ma and I are at the witches castle and I am about to turn all the witches into mice and then Grandma-ma is going to release all the cats to eat the witches!, "Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!" sorry had to do my little evil mouse laugh. My tail is a lot better from my last incident but can't focus on that now. I'm sprinkling my mouse potion on the witches soup and I'm running my little legs off till no end to let Grandma-ma release the cats. I stop to watch the witches drink their soup and the witches are turning into tiny mice! "I don't think thats supposed to happen?!" said Grandma-ma. The witches were so tiny that I looked like a human to them! And I'm only a tiny mouse! I accidentally screamed because the witches were so small that I forgot that screaming was the signal to release the cats! So Granda-ma released the cats when I was the only big enough mouse for the cats to see! I was trying to run for my life, but......

My Thanksgiving -- 11-29-10

For my thanksgiving I went to my cousin's house. My grandparents from Michigan came too. My aunt made two turkeys! I forgot what they were called though. Me and my cousins had a lot of fun together. we played down stairs in their basement and played Mario cart on the game cube (It's a really old gaming system). my dad and my uncle watched a lot of football but I wasn't interested in that kind of stuff. The desert my aunt made was really good she made apple pie and kilime cake too. I had the kilime cake though.

The next day I went bowling with my cousins. We played two rounds. It was also glow-in-the-dark, so it was really cool. I lost both times but I was also playing aganst two of my cousins that go their all the time and play. I had a really fun time over my thanksgiving break.

Gems are made of particles called atoms. The atoms are mixed together to make patterns. Gems are rocks at first and then they transform into a gem with heat. Organic gems come from living things. Gems are small and normally deep because minerals are deep. Gems aren't perfect when miners find them but they cut them and polish them to look good. Most gems get cut into flat surfaces. The facets show of the gems color, pattern and allows it to sparkle. Gems are valuable because their beautiful and rare. The value is determined by the cut and color. Diamonds can cut anything including metal and stones. Hope diamonds are very famous and is an unusually color of sky blue. The quartz family is the color of the rainbow. The most valuable in the quartz is the opal. A lot of people sacrificed their life just to get a beautiful gem.

I'm reading Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie. It is about a kid in Jr. high and a boy in kindergarden. Steven is the one in Jr. high and Jeffery is in kindergarden. Jeffery gets cancer and Steven is trying every way to make Jeffery happy and trying to make Jeffery not think about the little chances he has for living. Your probably wondering why it has the word dangerous pie in, well thats because at the beginning of the story Jeffery makes a pie with gross things in it. And thats all I've read so far!

Hello I'm Cara and this is my first blog in fourth grade. Well since this is my first blog I am stumped, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT!!! Well I am really excited for whats coming this year in fourth grade. This blog seems really cool though.
