A Look At Latvia -- 05-22-13

For school our class had to do a country project, I had Latvia. We had to research the countries geography, climate, history, cuisine, politics, etc. Latvia was really hard because there weren't very many valid websites and if there were it was in Latvian. It was really fun though because I never heard of Latvia and I am pretty sure a lot of people haven't either, so it was cool being someone who has. We did this project for the exact reason in the previous sentence. Check mine out!

Infographic Survey -- 04-03-13

For computer class I made an infographic by collecting data from the third grade in my school. It is a technology infographic so therefore all the questions I asked in my survey were somewhat related to technology. I did encounter a problem of not really knowing how to display all my information but with a little creative thinking, I could do it. I think I could have used a couple more pictures but I also think that might have made it look too crowded. So in that case maybe I could have used my space more wisely. If you would like to take my survey or just check it out then click here. To make this survey I used Google Forms which is a program where you can construct a survey, where you put your questions and your choices for the viewer and then you pick your theme. Then when people take your survey, Google creates a form which records the information as soon as the viewer takes your survey.

To take the information from my survey to a PowerPoint I first had to figure out how I wanted to display it, either in a chart, a people graphics, in just numbers, etc. Then I added some pictures and I was ready to go. After making my PowerPoint I had to make it into a JPEG by saving each slide from a PowerPoint to a JPEG. Then I made one long PowerPoint slide and inserted my JPEG slides so it would be one long infographic and is why you would have to make each slide the same, solid color. To do this I used the property of CARP which stands for Contrast. Alignment. Repetition. And Proximity. You're supposed to follow this so that when you go to put them all together they look like one infographic and not just a bunch of PowerPoint slides put together. The main reason you make an infopgraphic is to display information that you either researched or gathered.

If you would like to view my infographic at a larger size click on it.

A Scream Machine Maker!!! -- 04-17-12

Newton's Laws are very important when creating a roller coaster. He was the first person to discover gravity. I think these laws are pretty much common sense. We got in groups and by the end of the project we made a roller coaster on a stimulater. We then did an oral presentation about our role and about our roller coaster too. When we did the stimulater there many fails because of not having enough energy. We got to understand that roller coasters when created isn't as easy as you think. I never knew how important physics were, and when I got on roller coasters I didn't know how safe they probably were.

In class we had to be either a physicist, design engineer, historian, or lawyer. The physicist had research how many hills we can have, how many loops we can have, and how much kinetic energy and potential energy we can have. The physicist also had to see how velocity, inertia, and momentum played a role so that we wouldn't go crashing through the ending point. The design engineer had to see what materials could be used, how designs have changed, and how long it actually takes to design a roller coaster before building it. The historian had to research the highest roller coaster, the fastest roller coaster and had to make sure we didn't name our roller coaster a name that was already used. The lawyer had to see whether there were different laws in each state about roller coaster safety, how many lawsuits are going on right now and maybe how many deaths there has been. I was the physicist and learned a lot of interesting facts.

We decided to name our roller coaster Demon Hills because it has many hills. We made the loop look like a devil when we drew it and the cart look like fiery devil body. It looked really cool. My fail was because I didn't have enough energy to get through the loop. My success had lots of energy stored up so it was able to get through all the hills and loops. Here is a link to go to the stimulater if you would like, it is called JASON Mission Center: Coaster Creator

This is an example of my roller coaster fail. I think it didn't work because of the hill I have before my loop and that is where it got stuck.

This is an example of my roller coaster success. I think it worked because I had a really big hill and that gave me enough energy to go to the whole thing and the little hill slowed my roller coaster down at the very end.

This year is our best basketball season yet! We are 5-0 and hope to continue to be undefeated. We only have to play one more tough team and I think if we can beat them we will be undefeated for the season. For whatever reasin our whole team is doing really good. We are all making a reasonable amount of baskets each game, so no one player is the superstar. Please wish us luck. I can't wait to go to the playoffs, beacuse all we have to do is win one more game and we're in. We have never been to the playoffs in the four years we've been playing together! So, again wish us luck and if you can come see us play. Bye!!! :)

King Tut -- 12-19-11

OB: King Tut, you are very famous to many people. If they could name one Egyptian pharaoh, it would be you, but many of us don't know much more about you. If you are up to answering some questions, I would love to ask them.

KT: Yes, I would love to!

OB: How old were you when you died? What did you die from?

KT: I died in mid-January 1343 B.C. I was just nineteen years old when I died. I could have died from a very deadly type of Malaria, or I could have been murdered. It is thought that I was murdered by an offical, be cause my skull was bashed and only a person with great importance could get near enough to harm me. Exept for scientists did studies showing that I died from Malaria, so one will never be sure of what I died from.

OB: I understand there are many Egyptian kings, where do you fit in?

KT: I the eighteenth dynasty pharaoh in Egypt. I inherited the trone when I was just ten years old, so I was a very young pharaoh to start off. The reason I inherited the throne was, because my father Akhenaten's death.

OB: Where you born with the name of Tutankhamen or did you change your name along the way, because I have heard you changed it and I want to clean this up?

KT:I was not born with the name of Tutankhamen, but I was born with a similar name. My birth name was Tutankhaton. My wife and I changed our names, because our belief of our gods.

OB: I've heard you were a very minor pharaoh, but a very wealthy one. Is that true?

KT:Yes, that is true, beacuse of my short-term reign I was a very minor pharaoh. I inherited my wealth from my father, Akhenaten. Also when my tomb was discovered there was so much gold and jewels found that I then became the most popular phraraoh.

OB: Why did you inherite the throne at such a young age?

KT: My father, Akhenaten, died when I was very young. My older brother also died before my father died, so I had to inherit the throne. I ruled from ages nine to nineteen when I died. I was then like I said a very young pharaoh.

OB: I know you were a very minor pharaoh, but some say you'll never be forgotten. Was it because of the treasures in your tomb?

KT: Yes, I didn't have many accomplishments, so I was a very minor pharaoh. My popularity was because of how good in condition my tomb was when it was found. Not only was my popularity from my astonishingcondition of my tomb, but that it was never robbed. So, yes like I said the main factor was my tomb.

OB: Thank for answering all my question. We were very greatful for you to be hear. I now know and underdstand how you are the most popular pharaoh in Egypt.

I love smiley faces it is almost like my signature symbol. Every time I write my name I usually put a smiley face after it. Even though there is not much to say about them, other than that I love them. To me they are just so cute. Anyways I hope you like them too. They are just the awesomest symbols ever. Please comment, thanks. Just remember to use a smiley face anytime you get the chance to, and when you do remember me.

Energy Conservation -- 10-25-10

When I leared about how I could save energy these are the facts I learned. When we did a prodject I leared that if we don't start saving energy, fossil fuels, and natural rersources that our earth and enviorment will be in danger and we won't have many resources because we will have used them all already! I also learned how much energy and electricity we are using energy from just opening the fridge and just watching your hands with hot water. I was really suprised too when we learned that if you don't have good windows and doors how much energy and heat goes out. I learned how much energy CFL's save compared to regular light bulbs. If you can even get like a wind mill or a solar panel how much energy you can also save. When we use a energy efficent showerhead and faucet that we can savw so much energy. Even if we just take shorter showers and maybe just make thae water a little bit cooler thatwe can save energy too. I can save energy by not turning on as many lights and opening your blinds or windows. As a community if all of us just put these little things into consideration we can save our community and planet too. I hope you learned now how important it is to save energy and water!

Do Not Ever Smoke! -- 01-11-04

Smoking is harmful to each and everybody, smoking harms your heart and lungs. It can even make you die, it may be easy to start, but it can be really hard to quit it can ruin your life! In health class I learned that one thing in cigarettes and tobacco is nicotine that is most common thing you get addicted to, I never knew how bad smoking and tobacco could be until I learned about it. If you think it is cool it is really not, so stop now if you can, because after you start you may find it really hard to stop. Also did you know that truely when you smoke long enough your heart can pretty much make your heart stop beating! So just stop smoking it can really ruin your life so just stop or do not start. My motto is "just don't start"!
