5th Grade Essay -- 05-28-10

5th Grade Essay
In your 5th grade year you will experience many great moments and challenging moments. There is one particular thing that you should know about the 5th grade and that is that you will have a lot more expectations than in 4th grade. There will be a lot of challenges in your 5th grade year. You will have to endure a lot of things to survive the 5th grade. There will be a ton of opportunities to be social and learn how to communicate better than before. There are a ton of favorite projects and field trips from the 5th grade. You will learn about these things in my 5th grade essay.
Here are three classroom expectations. One really big one is respect because every morning we would list ways on how we could be respectful during the day. Another one is picking up after yourself otherwise if you don’t then the teachers will get mad. The last one is the golden rule because if you treat others badly they will treat you badly back. These are three classroom expectations.
Here are three survival tips that you will need to make it through the year. You need to follow directions or you won’t get the grades you could get. You also need to get a little amount of tallies or you won’t be able to have free time. The last thing is you need to do is not talk back or you will be in big trouble. These are three survival tips.
Here are three social things from the year. I became way better friends with Brad and now we are like brothers. I also became better friends with Ethan and it was a pleasure being in the same 5th grade class as him. I also became better friends with Konner who is hilarious and made my 5th grade year a lot funnier than it would have been without him. These are three social moments from the year.
Here are three challenges from the year. I feel the leaf project was challenging because you had to find leaves and classify them. I found the social studies timeline was challenging because you had to find a lot of facts. I also thought the culture displays were challenging but in a fun way too. Here are three challenges from the year.
Here are three of my favorite moments from the 5th grade. One is skyping because you get to talk to people all around the world. One of the other ones is the culture displays because I learned stuff about people that I didn’t know before. My last one is the simple machines project because it’s really cool seeing what you can do with your every day tools or toys. These are three of my favorite moments from the 5th grade.
In my 5th grade year I experienced many great moments and challenging moments. There is one particular thing that you should know about the 5th grade and that is that I had a lot more expectations than in 4th grade. I had a lot of challenges in my 5th grade year. I had to endure a lot of things to survive the 5th grade. I had a ton of opportunities to be social and learn how to communicate better than before. Sincerely,

Snow Day Poem

I look outside my window
and what do I see?

Six inches of fluffy snow
waiting just for me.

School is cancelled for one day.
Buses cannot run.

That’s ok with me because
I’ll have lots of fun.

I grab my boots, coat, and hat.
I run, jump and play.

Scoop it. Toss it. Crackle. Crunch.
Snow Day! Snow Day! Yeah!

Ice Hockey -- 02-03-10

Ice Hockey
There once was a kid named Mitchell Mayer in Owatonna, Minnesota that had always dreamed of being on the USA Olympic ice hockey team. He had been friends with two in particular people named Mitchell W. and Brad B. They were there for each other whenever they needed someone to help them out. Whether it was a move they couldn’t figure out or just a math problem, they were there for each other. They were with him the whole way and never let him down. Even though they had some ups and downs they would stick together.
When they were on the Owatonna Express they were probably the best 3 players on their team. They were at practice one night when 3 letters came and they were labeled out to Brad for a hockey scholarship at the U of M, another out to Mitchell M. for a U of M hockey scholarship, and the last for Mitchell W. for another U of M hockey scholarship. They all accepted and went to the U of M for a hockey scholarship. They were greeted by the coach and he said they would love to have them here. They were in the third period of a game against the Sioux and they were tied 2-2 with 1 minute to go and they pulled Brad and sent out Mitchell M. He went out there like a bull and never stopped and then all the fighting paid off when he got a pass from Mitchell W. and riffled a shot top right and scored a hat trick!
After the game he got undressed and was surprised to see the coach of the Minnesota Wild waiting for Brad, Mitchell W., and him. The coach said that this year for the drafting process they would pick 3 people and then the next coach would pick. It ended up that the coach for the Minnesota Wild had been chosen to pick first and he picked them. They went to play for them and had a blast playing the game they loved. They were on their third season with the wild when they were chosen to go to the Olympics for USA.
They went to the Olympics and they were so good that they beat every team they faced by at least 3 goals and now are going to play Russia in the championship! They were winning in the third period 6-0 when Russia pulled their goalie to see if they could only get one goal but when Brad got the puck he shot it over everyone and scored top shelf! That was the last goal of the game which made them win 7-0. They all got a medal and they presented the trophy to the team and they all decided the captain should have it which was Mitchell M. He got the trophy and was named the number 2 star of the game because he had 2 goals and 1 assist. The number 1 star of the game had 200 saves and 1 goal, was Brad. They all went back to the wild for 6 more seasons and then their contracts expired so they became free agents. The head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins decided that he wanted them to play hockey for him so he ended up having them sign a three year contract. They retired after 3 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Even though they were done with hockey they were still friends.

My Christmas -- 01-01-10

This Christmas I got a bunch of cool things. I got a mini football helmet, all the NHL teams’ pennants, clothes, bear gloves, band hero, Jack links original beef jerky, axe body spray, a chocolate walrus, and a bunch of other little things. Over Christmas break I did ALOT of snowmobiling on my 1990 440 Pantera. That is right my snowmobile is 20 years old. On New Years Eve I was at my friend’s house with 9 other people so we had a total of 10 kids at one house. We stayed up until 3:30 am and pulled a bunch of pranks on each other and some of them included cheese balls.

Things I am Thankful For
I am thankful for my parents because if they were not here I would not be the boy I am today. I am thankful that they take the time out of their social life to make sure that I get what I need to survive in this world we call home. I am thankful that they take time out of their day to drive me around to get to a hockey game or practice. I am thankful that they make sure I get places safely and get back safely. I am thankful that they provide me a nice, warm and cozy shelter. I am thankful that they are who they are and not trying to be someone else. Now I am thankful for the many things I wrote and many others for many different reasons that all connect in one way or another… I am thankful for them all.

Taming the Star Runner -- 11-17-09

Taming the Star Runner
I am reading a book called Taming the Star Runner by S. E. Hinton. In my book there is a kid named Travis that tried to murder his step-father with a fire poker. So he got sent to his Uncles house or he would have to go to a juvenile detention center.
While he is here he meets three girls at Pizza Hut. One he thought he like (Jennifer) but later on found he liked the other one (Casey). She is a pro horse rider and she gives lessons at his Uncles barn. One day he gets a call from his mother saying that the publishing place had sent a letter. He told her not to open it and to mail it right away. When it got there it said they would like to talk about publishing it (nobody knew about his book). He later talked to the publishing and got his book published.

President Clyde's Big Decision -- 11-04-09

President Clyde’s Big Decision

Once upon a time there was a president named Clyde. He was a very nice president until the war started. He got so outraged when he found out how much money he would have to pay to have all the army supplies needed. The reason he was so outraged by the price, was because of how it would affect the economy. So he ordered a meeting with all the army troops and asked them for their help on how not to spend so much. None of the troops could come up with any ideas, until the president thought of an idea that would save the people from doing any more damage to the other country. The president then decided to hold a meeting with the leaders of the other country to resolve the problems.

The problem between the two countries, the disagreement, was on what colors to use on their flags. The meeting was held on Air Force One. After a couple of hours and no solutions, finally a leader from the other country suggested an idea to solve it. The way they solved it was a procedure called Rock, Paper, and Scissors. Whichever won the first round, picked one color, and then the next winner, picked the design. The people that went up against each other were, President Clyde, and the leader from China, whose name was Yusaki Chung.
Once the color and design had been decided, they would pull back their troops and the war would seize.

When the process started, the first two rounds were a tie, next President Clyde beat Paper with Scissors. He then picked the colors, Red, White, and Blue. The following round started out the same, in a tie. Then President Clyde beat Yusaki Chung with Rock against Scissors. The result was, our American Flag!
Here a few things I learned about the 13 Colonies:
1.	The things we do today are somewhat similar to what they did back then (self-governing).
2.	The colonist’s went to America to find religious freedom but they prosecuted the people that did not go by the local religion.
3.	Many men hunted for food and the woman cooked the food the men caught.
4. There were many disease carrying mosquitoes flying around by Virginia.
5.	The soil down in the south was good for farming.
6.	The north was good for lumbering and manufacturing.

The Twins won the central division!!!!! The Twins are going to the play-offs for the World Series!!!! We won in the bottom of the 12th inning. Alexi Casilla hit a grounder in the right gap for Go Go Gomez to go streaking to home plate from 2nd. We won the game against the Detroit Tigers. That is how the game ended. Right after Gomez scored the winning run I ran to the computer and wrote this message to you. Sincerely,

The Pencil -- 09-23-09

The Pencil
Once upon a time in a little boring old classroom a boy named Adam was preparing for a test that he could never imagine of taking. As the teacher passed out the test’s Adam looked around the room he noticed that his test was the longest one in the class! As the teacher said they could start the test he became even more nervous than he was before.
When he picked up his pencil to do the test a different pencil appeared out of nowhere with a flash! When he tried to pick it up it began to fill in the answers to his test without a single thing touching it!
When he tried to stop the pencil from writing the answers it poked him in the arm with the sharp lead. After it poked him it made him squeal and got in trouble by the teacher for talking. So he decided to hunch over and pretended to fill in the answers.
Whenever the teacher came by the pencil forced itself into Adams’s hand and forced his hand to write the answers. Then after the teacher left the pencil began filling in the answers on its own again. After the teacher said it was time to stop testing the pencil disappeared into nowhere.
The next morning Adam was for some reason very excited to come to school and take the next test. He was so excited to go to school because he wanted to see the magic pencil do his work. Once he got to school and it was time to start testing again the magic pencil came back out of nowhere. After they were done testing and the teacher said that the test they had just taken was the last portion of the test.
The next day Adam’s best friend Timmy had lost his new IPod at school. Once he told the principal she immediately took concern and reviewed surveillance tapes to see who might have stolen it. While she was reviewing the tape she saw Adam’s magic pencil filling in Adam’s test answers. So she immediately called Adam’s teacher and made Adam come to her office and talk. Soon Adam confessed to using the magic pencil and was forced to re-take the test.

The End

My Spring Break -- 09-22-09

4-7-09
My Spring Break
My spring break was the best one ever. I went straight to my couch with a bag of chips and a mouth to eat them with. I watched TV for hours and hours, show after show, movie after movie and so on. I was thinking that I was going to be twice my weight after spring break!

The next morning was beautiful for going on a bike ride. Allie, Joe, Shannon, Collin, and I went on a bike ride to the blast, Martin’s, and Mineral Springs Park. It took us a total of four hours! When we got back Joe and I played till 5:30 PM.

The next day we biked to Subway and had lunch together. The wind that day was blowing really hard. It took us three hours that day because of that nasty wind.
The next three days we didn’t do a lot. The day after that was a little different because that night I had a sleepover at Mitchell’s house with Brandon. We stayed up till 3:00 AM because we heard a noise in the back so we grabbed a hockey stick and two bats to defend our self’s with. The order to go check it out was Mitchell, Brandon, and me. We didn’t find anything so we slept with the bays next to us.

The next morning we got up and had breakfast while watching baseball. Then we played hide and go seek for three hours. The rest of the day was not very fun.
The next day was totally cool. I played two hockey games that day. The first one we won 5-2! The next game was against a pee-wee team which is one level above us. We lost 8-2, but on the bright side I scored two goals on a pee-wee team!

The next thing I kmow I was getting ready for school the next day.
Sincerely,
MM

Secrets -- 09-22-09

Secrets can really hurt deep deep inside. Would you like it if someone told secrets behind your back? No I didn’t think so. The next time you’re telling secrets think if you would like someone saying that behind your back, if not then don’t say anything at all anymore. If someone is telling secrets about you or anyone else tell a teacher or a parent about it. If your friend is telling you a secret about someone try to tell them to stop and if they don’t think if they really are your friend. If someone wants you to tell a secret to someone tell them no you will not do it and that they should not do it either. Remember treat others the way you want to be treated.

Has this ever happened to you?
