						<description><![CDATA[My group was wondering if MHC had ears. so we tested to see what kind of music they liked. our first trial was with the song "cinemas" and "call me maybe" and they seemed to like cinemas better. then the next day we tried the song "boyfriend" and "drummer boy"  with different cockroaches and they seemed to like the song boyfriend better the drummer boy. then come to find out the cockroaches do have ears.!(:]]></description>

						<description><![CDATA[   what i liked about odyssey was we got to hangout with friends around the camp. and that was my favorite part. I also liked playing ping pong and i had an okay time on the hikes. but the 9 mile hike was hard on the beach.<br />
   What i dont like was some councilers were very rude for no reason and then they complain about us not being nice. Then we had to have a person come with us to go to the cabbins.<br />
    I wish i could of changed the food. im glad we had her come an im very thankful she came. and i wish we got more foooood!!(:]]></description>

And then we put peanut butter outside of the box for the light. I thought the snail would go to the light.  The first snail went to the light. But started going to the dark and then changed and went to the light. The second day with a second snail he didn't choose right away. He went back and fourth from dark to light but ended in the light. ]]></description>

						<description><![CDATA[<p>My group did an expirement with rye grass. We tested different waters. We had salt and sugar water. Five vials for salt and five vials for sugar. One vial for each, salt and sugar group was ragular tap water. Each vial started with 20 ml of tap water. Then each vial we would add five ml of the product. So for salt, vial one just water and vial two had 5ml salt. Vial three 10ml salt. Vial four 15ml salt. Vial five 20ml salt. Then we added the same amout of sugar to the other five vials! I learned a lot of information about osmosis and what it was and how its a big part of the plants life. I learned why the salt effected the rye grass. "Osmosis." Wikipedia. 						<description><![CDATA[I think that the school water fountain is not safe to drink from! The bacteria on the water fountain next to the gym is discusting! I dont think i will ever drink from out school water fountains again! The lunch table is clean enough to eat on. The toilet seat is the worst! There is a lot of germs and bacteria! Juding by the amount, I will be very uncomfortable to go to the bathroom. And, i will be squating from now on. I beleive that there is poop particles on the toilet seat.<br />
Our evidence is the bacteria in the petri dish, and these photos. My team forgot to just do a zig zag on about 2 of the objects so some of the bacteri could have grown or just been from something else. I feel like i understood everything.(:]]></description>

						<description><![CDATA[Cells divide/multiply using a large array of steps. First the chromosome splits into two identical chromosomes. Next the genetic material in the nucleus of the cell begins to thicken and shorten. The chromosome copies are held together at their centers so they form a sort of 'x'. Then the 'x's line up at the center of the cell. Then the copies separate, and each copy of the chromosomes are moved to either side of the cell towards each nuclei. To finish up the cell division the cytoplasm pinches at the center of the cell-dividing it in 2. <br />

Interphase: The busiest stage where the cell is preparing for the division. <br />

						<description><![CDATA[My class has been doing a class experiment on how the change of environment affects organisms. This is what we have learned: Liquid 1 was salt water, Vial A had red sand,  Vial B had yeast, vial C had polyacrylate also know as "orbies," vial D had radish and vial E had brine shrimp.! So for the liquid one had no changes to their vials. Which would mean none of their organisms were alive. Liquid 2 was sugar water. They had the same observations as liquid 1 except for the radish and brine shrimp. The radish grew sprouts and the brine shrimp moved and hatched!! Then in liquid 3 had the same observations. But only some brine shrimp hatched. And the radish had some great looking sprouts!!  What we observed, is that the brine shrimp didn't hatch in it's prefered environment which is salt water. <br />
I think that living organisms appeared non-living because the living organisms need the right environment. If it doesn't then it won't  have the things it needs to remain alive! ]]></description>

 Urban areas have potential to pollute water in many ways. Run off from streets carries oil, rubber and heavy metals into rivers, lakes and streams.<br /><br />

Also when we use cars if they are not properly cared for then they can leak oil witch is a source of pollution. When we litter we are causing pollution. <br /><br />

The ocean sustains life on earth its very important. They affect and moderate temperatures and dramatically influence global climate. <br /><br />
The ocean recycles and cleans the air we breathe. Bacteria are produced by pollution, which form a layer of slime on fish and plants. This results in decreased oxygen and increased disease. These are the consequences. Industries release pulp, paper, chemicals and acid rain. Ask yourself if we really want to release this into our world. <br /><br />

What can we do to improve quality after it has been polluted?<br /><br />

One more way is to properly recycle or dispose of pollutants before it contaminates soil, water or air.Us the people can take simple steps to prevent water pollution.They can take care of their vehicles to prevent the oil from the cars from going into rivers, streams, lakes and oceans This is a good way to prevent water pollution. <br /><br />

What are nitrates and how do they get into our water supply? <br /><br />

<p>Nitrates are natural compound present in all ecosystems. It one of the chemicals essential plant life. <br /><br />
All though this is essential to plants too much of it can also be a problem to plants and animals. <br /><br />
It’s also a component of a chemical in manure base fertilizers.Nitrates can enter watercourses and ponds from sources such as areas of high fertilizer life stock feed lots pastures and sewage.<br /><br />

What effects do high nitrate levels have on people? <br /><br />

   Excessive nitrate can result in restriction of oxygen to the blood stream. <br /><br />

Ground water provides drinking water supply to more then half of the population of the United States.<br /><br />
Sometimes these under ground water supplies can be “polluted” with nitrates can be potentially dangerous to people with conditions.<br /><br />
 Public supply wells are usually large wells providing water to hundreds of people within towns and cities. Domestic supply wells usually provide <br /><br />
Water to a single family on their landlord’s property were the well is located. Nitrate concentrations for these two types of wells are commonly quite different.<br /><br />

What is considered to be a safe level for nitrates in drinking water? <br /><br />

The EPA has established a maximum contaminate level of ten m/g/l as nitrogen for nitrate in drinking water.<br /><br />
This is considered a safe level. If this “rule” is not followed there could be extreme consequences.<br /><br />
Fortunately for us we have a very good concentration of this. EPA has formed a specific way of keeping concentrations. <br /><br />

What should a person do if there are high levels in their water supply?<br /><br />
<br /><br />
Nitrate concentrations in ground water generally are highest in parts of the northeast, mid west and the west coast. Concentrations generally are lowest in parts of the southeast. <br /><br />
This is just general information about were nitrates are highest and highest.<br /><br />
Regional differences are related to differences in soil drainage. Properties and agricultural practices. Nitrate in ground water is highest in areas of well-drained soils<br /><br />
And intensive cultivation of row crops. People could put their water through filters to clean their water and reduce risks.<br /><br />

By reducing the amount of fertilizer being applied to fields and residential lawns. By doing this we can reduce the potential<br /><br />
for nitrates entering our local watercourses after rainstorms. Tile drainage systems could be placed deeper into the soil. Thereby <br /><br />
Reducing the chance that nitrates will be carried into them.<br /><br />
Watercourses can be fenced to prevent livestock from entering our water supply.<br /><br />

						<description><![CDATA[cispus 2009 was great! The food was wonderful, the hikes were alright and the bunk houses were awesome. My favorite thing to do was archery. it was a great experence but it can be dangerous so we were paying atention. when we started learning songs and little dances we had funn and i liked the group i was in so it made things a lot more fun. If we do spimple things like... pick up some garbage,helping up somone that may have fell or somthing like that you can get a bead and there were some people that got at least 20 or even more beads!]]></description>
