The Stock Market -- 03-14-13

If a buisness doesn't have enough money to keep creating more of their products then they go to the state capital and get a charter or permit. Then the person goes to an investment banker and shows them the record of their past performance and plans for expense. Once the banker agrees to help sell shares they go to the securities and exchange commission in Washington to swear that all of the information they file is all true. After that the banker pays the person the amount needed in exchange for a certain amount of shares. Then the banker helps sell the shares and the money goes to the owner of the buisness who uses it to produce more of whatever product they sell. The people who bought the stocks own shares in the buisness like tools and other equipment used to improve it. The directors are responsible for the stocks, the division of money and earnings, and how the buisness is run. Here is a hyperlink to find out more about the stock market:

Bernadette Soubirous -- 12-13-12

Since the death of one of my closest friends, Bernadette, I have felt compelled to tell the world what a uniquely saintly person she was.

Bernadette Soubirous was born on January 7,1844, in the city of Lourdes, France to Louise and Francois Soubirous. Bernadette contracted cholera as a toddler and suffered severe asthma all of her life. We were drawn to each other because she had asthma and so do I; we were always lagging behind our other companions. We became good friends at a young age, since we were neighbors in our close little village. At the time of her birth, her family was prosperous; but due to misfortunes,the family soon plunged into poverty, and they were forced to live in a single room which used to be a prison cell. The cell was so damp that it was “ too unsanitary for prisoners”. In spite of their poverty, the family was loving and devoted to each other. Bernadette herself was very well liked and was courteous and kind to others. She suffered ill health and because of the family’s poverty, she missed the opportunity to get proper schooling. When she was fourteen years old, she was still studying the basic catechism with seven year old children. She often referred to herself as “the stupid one”.

On February 11, 1858, at the age of 14, Bernadette had her first vision of a “ beautiful lady”. Her sisters and I went out to collect firewood; but because of our asthma, we had difficulty keeping up and were left behind by a grotto filled with rubbish washed up from the river. She described what she saw: “ I heard a sound like a gust of wind. I saw the trees were quite still. I heard a sound again and raised my head to look at the grotto, I saw a lady in a white dress, a blue girdle, and a yellow rose on each foot, the same color as the chain of her rosary; the beads of the rosary were white”. Bernadette said she was overcome with a great peace. After hearing of her experience, Bernadette’s mother forbade her to return to the grotto. Usually she was very obedient, but this time she felt compelled to return. On our third visit to the grotto, the lady told Bernadette “ she could not promise to make her happy in this world, only in the next”. The lady asked her to come for the next two weeks. Hundreds of people began to accompany us to the grotto. Although many of us believed it was a miracle, others were critical and suspicious. She was taken several times by the police for questioning and had to undergo medical testing to prove she wasn’t fit for a mental institution. Our own parish priest was very hostile towards her.

On our ninth visit, the lady asked Bernadette to drink from the spring; but there was no spring there at the time. She began digging with her hands, in a muddy patch and drank a few drops of muddy water. In the following days, water flowed from where Bernadette was digging. People started having miraculous healings. This remains one of the greatest attractions of Lourdes to this day. Father Dominique, our pastor, made a request for the lady to reveal her name; and on March 25th the lady stated “ I am the Immaculate Conception”. After some time, Fr. Dominique became one of Bernadette’s greatest supporters and felt she was a uniquely saintly person. On July 16th Bernadette and I made one final visit to the grotto. The lady asked her to penance and pray for sinners. After the apparitions, she became attracted to living a religious cloistered life. She wanted to enter a Carmelite convent, but her weak health made the demanding routines of the Carmelite Convent unsuitable. In the end, she settled on entering the Convent at Nevers. For the next thirteen years, I visited her regularly at the convent. She was now called sister Marie Bernard, and she lived a very simple life as a nun. Her humility, obedience and cheerful attitude were an inspiration to the other sisters. Before her death, she suffered various ailments and for long periods of time was confined to her bed. I asked her one day why she didn’t go to Lourdes for healing, and she replied “ the spring is not for me”. In her final moments, she expressed great confidence in the Blessed Mother by saying: “ Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for me, a poor sinner”. Then she died.

She was beatified by the church in 1925 and canonized a saint in 1933 under Pope Pius X1, not so much for the contents of her visions, but rather for her simplicity and the holiness of her life. She is the patron saint of the sick and also of the family and the poverty stricken.

Although it was a very sad time for me, having suffered the loss of such a good friend and an incredible human being, I am comforted by the fact that she is still with me in spirit. I feel her presence in my life at all times, but especially during difficult times, when I talk with her and ask her to intercede for me to God. I think the greatest message we can learn from Bernadette is to always put God first in our lives; and pray for the strength to accept His will, wherever it may lead. Bernadette’s example is one of the best massages she left us, practicing humility and always being kind and courteous to others. Finally, Our Blessed Mother gave her the message to do penance and pray for sinners, which made Bernadette God’s chosen messenger to us. Now it is up to us to carry out her message.

I chose Saint Bernadette Soubirous to be my saint because ever since I was a little girl I liked to learn about her. I have wanted her to be the saint I would pick for Confirmation for the past four years and she was the first saint I learned about when I was a little girl.Whenever I am going through a difficult time I ask her to intercede for me to God.

Do you know what your eating almost everyday, well I bet its not good for you all of you Mc' Donalds, Burger King, Wendys, and other fast food lovers should read this article because you might change your mind about eating that stuff as often as you do. All of that stuff is literally killing you so if you eat it more than once every 2 weeks you should really find some healthier options. This blog will tell you how bad that stuff is for you, why you should'nt eat it, and what happens after a while of eating it.

Laying around doing nothing all day, eating Mc' Donalds for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desert well after doing that for about a month or so guess what your dead. Thats right no doubt about it your dead that stuff has more grease and fat than a bucket worth of it itself even Mc' Donalds salads aren't good for you if you eat there salad with a soda every day for a week it would be like chugging down 2 giant jars of dry natural sugar. Do you know that if you go to a Mc' Donalds and ask to see their nutrition facts label they will probably have it hidden behind a sign, in a basement, or maybe they won't even have one because even they know that there food isn't good for you their just doing it all for the money. You should have Mc' Donalds if you even do at least once every month. Do you know that America is the fatest country in the world well it is and if your happy about it then congrats go throw a party but if you have a brain and know its not good then change the way you eat. Now I am not telling you that you have to or calling you fat but if you do I would really recommened to change your diet. Big Mac's lettuce and tomatoes aren't going to save you in fact the name itself probably came from a guy who people called Big Mac hmmmm I wonder why. So try loosening up on fast food then maybe you won't have to loosen up your pants there are many great ways to eat and stay healthy exercising definetely can help too. Here is a video that I would watch if I were you, the name of it is"Supersize Me" it will show you some results of what could happen to you.

This video really inspired my class mates and I to eat healthier and to eat out less frequently, after watching this video I realized that the amount of fat and grease that I thought was in the food is actually like doubled. The video shows a man that goes on a daring fast food challenge that will prove how dangerous the food could be. If exercising and fast food were in a fight even exercise wouldn't have a chance. Not only are adults eating bad on the week days but also kids in school because you may not know it parents but your kids schools may be feeding them wrong from the influence of fast foods, your kids at lunch time may just be eating french fries and a burger. That clown on TV and those play areas and toys are just luring you in to eat their food, that clown looks happy because he knows he's making money. Do you know that the more junk you eat the more dumb you become yeah thats right your kids know Ronald Mc' Donald more than their own president if they even do know the president if you hold up a picture of Jesus they might even think he's a president. Exercise and a good diet can keep your body and your mind in shape so start today and show Ronald Mc' Donald who's boss, don't let that clown bring you down. Fact: did you know that compared to vegetable production these days fast food places are making millions when their only making like half a million thats like a penny and a one hundred dollar bill. So now after reading this you make the choice do you want to change?

Roller Coaster Project -- 04-05-11

Roller coasters take a lot of time to build when you are building a roller coaster you need a phycisist, a historian, and a design engineer.Our class went into groups and made our own roller coaster we talked about the physics, the history of roller coasters, and what people use to make the roller coaster. I was the phycisist in my group and I talked about the forces of a roller coaster, how roller coasters are tested, and what the forces of a roller coaster are for example there are forces, laws, and history. The types of forces on a roller coaster are g-forces, inertia, kinetic energy, and potential energy. The 3 laws are called Newtons first, second, and third law.Newtons 1st law of motion is every object in a state of motion remains in that state of motion unless an external force is a applied to it.Newtons 2nd law of motion is the relationship between an objects mass.Newtons 3rd law of motion is for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Those are the 3 laws of motion on a roller coaster!

There are dangers when you are posting something that you copied off of somebody else's work,It's called copyrighting.Copyrighting can get you in a lot of trouble, it is when you take another persons work without their permission and posting it somewhere.People can easly copyright something, you can copright: Videos,Music,Pictures,Books,or Blogs.Copyrighting can last for 14 years then it will go into the public domain and anyone can use it.If you are going to take something use Fair Use.Fair Use is when you ask for permission to copy something and use it for a good thing.Copyrighting is a very dangerous thing and nobody,s work should be taken.

I hope to learn many things in 6th grade this year.I will practice my handwriting and try to make it better.I will try to listen and understand more in class to get better grades.I hope to do better in singing for the Gleeclub,voice lesson recitals,and anthing else that comes around.I want to play sports and practice my swimming in the summer time.
