For the past few weeks in health class, we've been watching "Supersize Me," which is a documentary about a man named Morgan who decided to eat Mcdonald's for 30 days. We watched this video because this whole year in health, we've been learning the importance of staying healthy by eating right and exercising. Everything he eats has to be from Mcdonald's, even water! At one point, he wouldn’t even take pills because they weren't sold at Mcdonald's!

Before he began his experiment, Morgan visited three specialists to make sure he was in good health by getting some tests. He went to a doctor, nutritionist, and an exercise physiologist. To learn more about what exercise physiologists do, click here. To learn more about what nutritionists do, click here. Because he lives in New York City, Morgan walked everywhere. Because he would burn a lot of the Mcdonad’s off, Morgan followed the advice of the professionals and could only walk 5000 steps per day. Also, his calorie intake increased, causing him to gain at least ten pounds. Morgan also threw up a few times because his system was used to the grease-drenched food served at Mcdonald’s. At about the 20^th day, when Morgan visited the doctor and nutritionist and was weighed, they told him it really was putting an impact on his health. They asked him to take some pills, but he refused saying they didn’t sell them at McDonald’s. Morgan stood strong and finished his challenge. I really enjoyed watching “Supersize Me,” because it was both entertaining, and it taught a lesson. I learned that although McDonald’s may taste delicious, it is made with cheap unhealthy ingredients, and cooked in dirty facilities. To maintain a healthy weight, you have to eat the same number of calories that you burn. To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn off, and to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you eat (see * for easy-to-understand equations). Also, I learned that America is the fattest nation and that candy companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars advertising, while organic and “healthy” companies only spend a few million. From watching this documentary, I’ve also tried to eat more healthy and non-processed foods. I’ve also promised myself that I’d never eat McDonald’s again, even though I rarely do, because I learned that Chicken McNuggets are nothing but old chickens combined with unhealthy ingredients!

*Maintain weight: calories eaten = calories burned

  Lose weight: calories eaten < calories burned

  Gain weight: calories eaten > calories burned

One instance of working toward one of the goals is called Free Rice. Free Rice is an educational game that empowers children and adults to get involved and exercise their brain. On Free Rice, there are various subjects, skills, and levels. that ask you questions such as. "What does the work remorse mean?" If you get the answer right, ten grains, or a bowl, of rice will be given to a child in Africa for free. If you answer ten questions right in a row, you have donated 100 grains, or a bowl, of rice.                          The roller coaster my team created was called "Gold Spark". Our coaster has a large hill, an upside-down loop; and a bunch of little hills that give you butterflies in your stomach. The unique thing about our coaster is that in-between the upside-down loop, we have gold firecrackers shooting through it! Another cool thing about our coaster is that out carts are made of diamonds. "Gold Spark" is very colorful, and it consists of colors such as gold, pink, and gray. My role was the Design Engineer. The Design Engineer studies the principles of rollers to play and construct an artistic of architectural physical design. As the Design Engineer, I learned that steel coasters use thin, trestle-style structures to support the track, or they may use thick, tubular supports. However, that's not the only thing I learned. I also learn cool and interesting facts from my group members, who had the jobs of the Historian, and the Physicist.

                         I really liked the outcome of our roller coaster, and I think my class did too! We know our roller coaster "really works", because we used a roller coaster stimulator that lets you build and design a roller coaster, and then it test runs so you can see if it actually works. I'm not sure if our roller coaster would actually work in real life, because I don't think it would have enough momentum, because we made a big upside-down loop right after a medium-size hill. Another thing we may have to worry about are    g's because if there are too many, you could pass out or die. A g is a unit of acceleration equal to the acceleration caused by gravity. Even though our roller coaster may have some errors or may not work, it was a success for our group, and my class loved it!

*Cyberbulling can be more serious than you think, It has led kids to go in a state of depression, and even commit suicide.

These are some internet safety tips I learned at school ...

#1.)Online Shopping- When you are online shopping and giving out personal and credit card information, you should make sure you look at the address  bar and  it should say httpS the S means secure(the page is secure). You should also make sure that there is a padlock after the address.   

#2.) Email Scams- When you receive an email that seems a little weird like "This is Bank of America and we lost all of your info. Please go to this website help us retrieve you information." You should never respond to emails like that or give out personal info to an unknown sender. They would call you if they really lost personal info or needed to contact you.         

#3.)Cyber bullying - If you are ever cyber bullied, even if it isn't serious tell a parent or trusted adult. If it goes on, or is very serious, call the police. Usually kids that cyber bully are kids that are afraid to bully in person.    

#4.)Social Networking-Even though we enjoy it, it is dangerous. Do not EVER get a face book account unless you are 13. You should never give out your personal information or give pictures. Don't tell very detailed information like "at my wedding, we got a wonderful tent from The Bent Brothers." People could go there and do very tricky things!    

#5.)Good Sites And Bad Sites- There are some very bad websites and some good ones out there. To tell the difference, look at the bottom of the screen on the left side and if you scroll over a link that does not say where it is going it could not be a good website, so X-out quickly!       

#6.)Posting Words and Images Online- When you do that you have to understand that once those pictures are out there, they are out there forever. You can't take them back. Don't ever use very personal info on a blog. wiki, email, or social networking site because you don't know whose hands they could end up in.    

#7.) Cyber bullying- If you suspect a person who may be doing it, call the police and take a picture of the page.     

#8.) Email- When you get a fun email or any forwarding one, delete all the other names because other people could get them and try to sell that person stuff.    

#9.)Social Networking- Just because you click friends only doesn’t mean other people can't see your page   

#10.) Online Shopping- Make sure the company is well-known and has an address and phone number
