Monster story

Article posted December 7, 2009 at 08:42 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1588

One day there was an 8 year old girl called Berber BFFL Cassidy. She had long blonde curly hair. She loved chocolate, she was skinny and she had brown eyes. She lives in a house in the forest. Her house has 4 windows, a door and her house is made out of wood. She lives with her Mum and Dad.

One day her Mum and Dad went out and they said to Berber BFFL Cassidy to stay in the house. When her parents went out she packed a picnic and walked out of her house. She was all alone in the forest so she sat down and ate. She was so full after she decided to have a sleep. Then she wakes up and turns a corner.

She turned the corner and froze in fear when she saw a large face right in front of her. The creature looked like a monster. It was huge and hairy. Two large, yellow eyes stared at her. It had large pointed ears that twitched and sharp teeth with fangs on each side. The beast, which she saw was a lion, bared its teeth and took a step forward.

Berber BFFL Cassidy was scared to death. She ran as fast as she could but the lion was still following her. Suddenly she bumped into a tree and the lion got her. The lion took her to his home. Berber BFFL Cassidy was locked up in a cage. The lion was making dinner. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. It was the lion’s family. Berber BFFL Cassidy thought she was the dinner. She was shivering in fear.

Then there was another knock on the door. Guess who it was this time? It was her mum and dad. They said, “We want our daughter back.”
But the lion just trapped them up in a cage.
Then a tornado came. It lifted the lion’s little cottage. Then there was a pause. And the house flew right down. BANG!
The lion had saved everyone’s life in the forest by putting them in a strong steel cage and they all had a big party.

I am working with Cassidy we are doing the horns and nose. We had to draw the parts so they look right. The difficultist part was cutting it on cardboard. But it was easy cutting on paper.

maths or reading

I think reading is more importent beacause if you get a newsletter you have to read it. And when you're an adult you read things at your work and you have to understand them.

Where we live

Article posted September 25, 2009 at 02:49 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 382

The Livewires live in Waipa District, in North Island in New Zealand. Our country is peaceful because some live on dairy farms.
Our towns are Kihikihi and Te Awamutu. Ten people live in town and fourteen live on farms.
There are lots of farms. Some farms are dairy farms. If you live on a dairy farm you have lots of cows. Cows make milk. The milk comes from cows udders. Udders are things that have milk in them then they wait to be milked. When you milk you put it in a tank and a Fonterra truck comes. They get all the milk, clean it up and put them in bottles and they are ready to go to the shop to sell. Milk is make into butter and cheese. You use milk nearly for everything. Also on farms you can grow kiwifruit, maize and beef cattle.
There are some extinct volcanoes. There names are Pirongia, Kakepuku and Maungatautari. Maungatautari is special because it is a bird sanctuary. In Maungatautari there is a 50 km fence to stop pests such as possums, dogs, cats, stoats, ferrets, mice and some humans with guns.

Kiwi

Article posted August 20, 2009 at 12:43 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 323

A kiwi is an endangered bird related to New Zealand. Kiwis are flightless so they can’t fly. A kiwi is the same size as a hen but their eggs are six times bigger than a hen’s egg. The male kiwi sits on the egg for up to 65 or 75 days.
Kiwis are very special because they are the only birds that have their nostrils at the tip of their beak. Kiwis have an excellent sense of smell and hearing. The female kiwi is bigger than the male kiwi. They live in a burrow up to 1 t o3 metres long. Kiwis have no tail. Kiwis have strong legs so they can run very fast and fight their enemies. Kiwis favourite foods are worms, insects and berries. But they like worms the best. Kiwis have long beaks. Kiwis can blow their nose by snorting. Kiwis have short stumpy wings. You usually find kiwis in forests. Kiwis have 5 species. Kiwis are brown and furry.
If you want to see a kiwi come to New Zealand.

A rock for a toy?

Article posted May 14, 2009 at 01:05 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 534

What a great idea.
We will make an idea of toys made with rocks. Now what shall we talk about first? You could make a collection. You could juggle with rocks. You could see who can build the tallest tower out of rocks with a friend. You could stick eyes on it to make it your pet. There are lots of games you can play with a rock. Rocks can be good toys to play with. Be careful it doesn’t hit anybody.
