My Heritage

Do you want to hear about my heritage? I was born in the U.S.A., and so was my dad. My mom was born in Canada and all four of my grandparents were born in Italy. I have never been to Italy but I do hear stories of it. the U.S.A and Canada are pretty much the same. WE celebrate Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The only difference is that the Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated in October.
One tradition that our families follow throughout the three countries is we all
like to have pasta on Sundays. Also, we bake special cookies for Easter and Christmas. I even know the Tarantella. It is one ludicrous dance. It goes on and on and goes faster and faster. One thing I didn’t know, is that this dance was mostly danced by the men. It is a lot of fun. My grandpa also makes wine every October. He buys the grapes and presses them. I like to watch him do it when we are there.
To this date I think we are pretty close to our culture. We try to follow as many traditions as we can. My favorite part is the homemade cookies.
In the future, I hope I can take what I learned about my heritage and culture and pass it on to my family.

My Passion

I realized that my passion is sports when I first started playing baseball. My favorite sports are football and baseball. The reason I am passionate about these sports is because I like the action and I find the games very exciting. I like the feeling of being in a stadium with all the other fans rooting for the same team. It is so exciting to watch the game. I always make time for sports. I do all my homework first so that I can have time to either play a sport or watch it on TV.
With this passion I would like to achieve perfection. I want to be the best I can. In the future I want to be a football or a baseball coach. I would also like to be a professional player. This is my passion.

Parent Teacher Conference

When I heard that I had to go to the parent teacher conference I was shocked. I felt nervous at the meeting but, I was very happy that my mom sat there with me. The first five minutes they spoke directly to me. They asked me if I had seen my report card, and how I thought I did. We discussed my grades and they told me how hard they thought I was working. I was very happy to hear that. Then they asked me if I could leave so they could speak to my mom alone for a little bit. I thought the meeting went well. When we got home my parents told me how proud of me they were and what they expected me to improve on. I would not like to be included next time because my mom will tell me what was discussed.

Discussion Director - The Girl With 500 Middle Names

This week I am the discussion director for the book, "The Girl With 500 Middle Names." We're almost done with this book and we have to read until the end.
The theme of this book is acceptance. It is important to feel accepted because then you feel like you fit in with people. Do you think main character Janie will be accepted at her new school? Have you always been accepted? I think Janie will have a hard time at first, then it will be better during the year for her. What do you think?

Favorite Book

My favorite book is Stink and the Galactic Jaw Braker. It is written by Megan McDonald. It's my favorite book because I find it very interesting. In the book Stink wants to buy a jaw braker because the jaw braker company says that it will break your jaw. So he bought the jaw braker and sucked on it for lunch and dinner and more. He did not stop but it didn’t break his jaw. He wrote a letter to the jaw braker company to let them know that it did not break his jaw. They sent him 500 jaw brakers. He then gave them to his friend because they had gotten in a fight. My favorite part was when he tried to break the jaw braker. It took him so long and he still couldn't do it. I think it was great that he took action and told the company that what they said wasn't true. Also, I liked when his grandmother gave him glow in the dark scrambled egg pj's. He wasn't very happy about that but I found it funny. This is my favorite book. And I would recommend this book for kids who like
fiction book.

I am reading a book that is called, “the girl with 500 middle names”.It is about a girl named Jane who is picked on every day. She and her family decide to change to another school. Jane is being bullied by a girl named cross eyed Crissy. Crissy started bullying because the kids would stare at her cross eyes.
I remember when I was younger my brother and cousin would play their Nintendo DS and I was always left out. They would play for a long time, so I would be by myself. It made me sad and angry. I eventually got my own Nintendo DS. Now we can play altogether. I also felt bad and was very angry with myself for saying that.
I think it is important to accept others because then they will feel bad if they are left out. I should know I was left out too!

Hi, I want to tell you about what I learned on earth formation.
Delta’s are formed at the end of the river. They are made out of sand and rock and are triangular shape.
Lakes started as glaciers, as they melted the water filled the holes they were in.
One type of island is a coral island, they are formed by coral from reefs.
Wind erosion causes changes in the landscape. When it is really windy, trees break down.
When volcanoes erupt it forces under ground magma up and when big waves hit, they can drag houses into the ocean. Waves can erode almost anything.
I also learned that it is very important to know the information before it is presented. Next time, I will try to learn my part better and speak louder and clear.

Hi my name is 07 Sports Fan I will tell you about my 7 random facts.
I like to play sports. My favorite sports are soccer, baseball and football. I play them with my teams and with my brothers.
My favorite teams are the Mets and the Jets. These are my favorite teams because I have been watching them for a very long time.
My family and I travel to Canada very often. My grandparents and extended family live there and we take at about 8 hours to get there.
My favorite food is french-fries. I like to have them when I go to McDonalds and any other chance I get.
My favorite holidays are Christmas and Halloween. I like Christmas because I get lots of presents and I get to spend time with my family. I like Halloween because I get lots of candy and I get to have fun with my friends.
And these are my 7 random facts.

My hopes and dreams for fifth grade are to do better in math because I am not too good at it. I want to work on reading too because I am really not that good at reading. I even want to work on my writing because I am a little sloppy on my writing so I want to work on that. I am going to do better by practicing math games at home. I would like to improve on my reading level by reading more books on my free time. I would also like to be a neater writer. So that’s all I want to work on this year.
