Dairy products

Article posted September 22, 2010 at 10:05 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1350

Cows eat grass to survive. Cows have four stomachs to digest food. Dairy products come from cows. Milk comes from a cow’s udder.
In some parts of the world people milk cows by hand. In other parts of the world people use milking machines. Him or her puts some suction cups on the cows udder. It only takes five minutes. Machine milking is faster.
Big tankers get milk from the farms. The milk goes to the factories and is made into dairy products.
Dairy products are important to New Zealand and we sell many overseas.

New Zealand

Article posted August 2, 2010 at 11:48 PM GMT • comment • Reads 558

New Zealand is a small island country in the south Pacific Ocean.
Lake Taupo is the largest volcano in New Zealand. NZ is short for New Zealand. Mount Cook is the tallest mountain. It is 3764 metres high.
Our rugby team is the All Blacks. Our soccer team is the All Whites.
New Zealand is one of the biggest dairy farming places in the world. We kill sheep for meat and wool. We grow kiwifruit and other crops.
New Zealand has no native mammals except bats. We have heaps of native birds. The kiwi is a New Zealand native bird and it can’t fly. New Zealand people are called kiwis too.
New Zealand is small but the country has a lot of different plants, birds, landscape and people.

Pingu's Fat Fish

Article posted August 2, 2010 at 11:40 PM GMT • comment • Reads 358

Hi, I am Pingu the Penguin and I am 10 years old. I am unhappy. I am cold, I am hungry and sore. I cannot move. But I will be brave and I am going to...
What! What is that?
It’s a big fish. I can eat it. So he jumped into the water and caught it. Then he ate the fish. The fish had a big fat body and a big fat eye. Why did I think about the eye, that part is yuck. Never mind I’ll carry on talking. It had a big fat tail. It was nice and juicy to eat.

On Monday I went to Coromandel. When I got there I played on the half barrels. I rolled and I sprained my ankle. It badly hurt. And I set up my camp bed. It was easy. Then my cousin showed up and we played for two hours. We had tea. It was salad.

In the morning the whole family went on a boat. I caught some snapper and guess what I had for tea – snapper

Where we live

Article posted September 25, 2009 at 01:29 AM GMT • comment • Reads 635

The Livewires live in Waipa District. It is peaceful and quiet. Ten people live on farms and 14 live in town.
The farms are mostly dairy farms. Milk goes in a tanker which goes to a dairy factory.
Some small mountains like Pirongia, Kakepuku and Maungatautari are extinct volcanoes. Maungatautari has a 50 km fence to stop predators.
