Cockroach Results

Mukda and mine experiment we wanted to know if the cockroach prefer dry or moist soil. I had predicted that the cockroach would choose moist soil because in Madagascar they are found in the forest in tree logs. We had put dry and moist soil on opposite sides. The cockroach went to the dry soil 4 out of 5 time and went to the moist soil 1 out of 5 times. Results were uncertain whether the cockroach prefers dry or moist soil because it was difficult to make the cockroach decide where to go. The cockroach just seems like they want to run and get away from us :(.

I learnd that Madagascar is an island home to fascinating insect, Madagascar hissing cockroaches.
Madagascar hissing cockroaches are wingless insects, shiny brown in color.
They are oval-shaped and have a single pair of antennae.
It is approximately 2 to 4 inches in length and weighs ¼ to 7/8 ounces.
These cockroaches live in colonies of roaches of all ages and sexes.
MALES-
The male cockroaches are larger than the females.
The males have a pair of horns on their head.
LIFE CYCLE-
Madagascar hissing cockroaches have a wired way of giving birth to its young.
Females carry a cocoon-like case known as ootheca.
They carry their eggs in this ootheca and their neonatal nymphs inside their body(The nymphs are pushed outside the body by the females after they hatch.)
This gives an appearance as if she is giving birth to live young.
The roaches have a gradual metamorphosis stage, that is, development as eggs, nymphs and final adult stage.
BREEDING-
These cockroaches can breed for 2-3 years or even longer. They commonly have two-three broods a year.
COCKROACHES AS PETS-
Madagascar hissing cockroaches can prove to be great pets. Unlike the other cockroaches, these cockroaches do not infest human habitats and are not pests. They survive on the jungle floors hiding under the leaves, logs and rocks. They are active during the night as these are nocturnal creatures. These scavengers do not bite and an easy to care for pet. They slowly walk on your hand and do not harm you in any way. You can even train your roach to run a maze or step on a lever. Cockroaches-They are nasty gross and ugly things that have no life and need to die because there is no purpose of them on this world
I know that they are an insect that has 2 long tentacles in front of them.
Color of them are brown or dark brown.
I lived in California and had lots of cockroaches every where for a long time-
They like to sit in your bath tub
They don't like dogs
What I want to know about them:
What type of food do they eat,
What do they smell like,
What do they use their 2 long tentacles for
I also what do know how long can they live
What kind of environment do they like
Do they prefer the dark better than the light?

I thought that odyssey was fun. I found my inner spirit bear. A week long with out any Internet I thought was horrible and. Thought that I was ganja die.!! I think what I liked te most was going to the Makah Museum it was fun to be in the long house it was so real looking. Well lots more happened. I HAD A GREAT TIME.

I know:
They have a shell
They leave a really slimy trail
They have a foot
They are boy and girl
They are GROSS
They fizz when put in salt
What I want to know:
Where they poop from
Why they leave a trail
why they fizz when pugt in salt
I personaly do not like snils and think they are gross. I love putting slug/snails in salt:)

In my plant researched and experiment. Mukda and I did our project on miracle grow and regular soil to see witch soil works better. We planted Ater(15 in each), Forget Me-Nots(10) and Morning Glory(15) in each type of soil. As a result, the regular soil made the plants grow faster. The miracle grow took about a week for the flowers to start to sprout in regular soil.We had thought that the reason why our flowers were growing better in grew better in regular soil was due to the soil that we got from the high shcool green house. We dont know what nutrients and what kind of soil. We did some researched on our flowers structures that we showed in our presentation video. The plants were growing toward the window and the reason why was due to photosynthesis. I learned about how seeds are a living organism and how they aren't.They have the embryo to create plants in the future and seeds have some stred energy in them self ready to be planted and sprout.

Today we did the same thing as yesterday but instead of doing peas we used flowers and this is what I got for results.
Cross- white flower and red flower
Prediction- red will be stonger
Result- will be red
Concussion- Turned
Cross- r2 and w2
prediction- will be pink
Result- all pink
Conclusion- red and white mixed and red is still stronger
Cross-r2 and r1
Prediction- all red
Result-100% red
Conclution- nothing changed because the same color flower
Cross- r2 and w1
Prediction- all pink
Result-all pink
conclution-white mix with red
Cross- pink and pink
Prediction- all pink
Result- 50% pink 25% red 25% red
Conclusion- not sure
Cross- pink and red
Prediction- will be red
Result- half is red and half is pink
concultion- don't know what happened

In class today we did a thing with genetics. We did a assignment with yellow and green peas. This is what I did.
Prediction- y and g
Results of course- 50y - 50g (From Mr. G - y and g cross gave 100% yellow offspring!!)
Conclution- I think that this had happened bc the yellow might have been stronger than the green
Write on course you would like to do- y1 with g
Prediction of outcomes of cross- that there will be 75% yellow and 25% green
Results of cross- yellow was 100%
conclution-Yellow is stinger than the green
Another cross- y and g1
prediction- yellow will be the most
Results- 100% yellow
Conclution- yellow is still stronger
# 4 cross- G1 and y2
Predition- yellow will be stonger
Results- half and half
Conclution cross- generation is stinger
5 cross- g2 and y
Prediction- half an half
Results- all yellow
Concultion- yellow is still stronger
Explain what you think is happening- I think that the yellow is stronger and that the green is weak and that's why the pea is coming out yellow.
