We have three 6th grade Science classes and two 8th grade Science classes blogging here from the Pacific Northwest in Chimacum, WA! Sixth graders are learning a bit about Mt Saint Helens, environmental science through fresh water ecology, and physical science this year. Eighth graders are learning about life science this year. Cockroach conclusion

We did an experiment with cockroaches. We wanted to see whether the cockroach would react to magnets. We put it in a paper towel and made it crawl down to the magnet and it just stoped we changed the metals and it crawled right out and over it. So it dose react to it

Did you know that cockroachs can survive in more radiation than we humans can. They can also fly if they have wings but it depends on the type.

I do not know much about cockroach s but they live all over hawaii and Madagascar. Darth Vadar's head was based off the cockroach head. What I want to know is how their body works.

The only thing in know about snails is that they are slimy and they have hard shells made of calcium. I have cede Ted on and I have taken their shells off it looked really weird. I don't know much else.

My plant experiment was how the tempeture afects cacti in the dark. We had one in the incubator at body temp wich is 96.5 ferenheight. We had another in the fridge at the dessert night temp wich is about 45 ferenheight. And one room tempiture wich is 68-72 degrees f. The room temp did best but it got some light because otheres put theirs in the closet as well and it got more air circulation. The cold did the second best and it was preaty much a perfect experiment. The one in the incubator was cooked because it was hotter than it is used to.

43267.5 pounds that is how much carbon dioxide is sent into the air when i get my lunch. It was a cheese burger whith jam and bread i also had a bannana, yogurt, and a glass of orange juice. The total miles to get that food was 11,538 miles. To get the pounds of carbon you multiply 3.67 by the total mileage. It is preaty horrible just for one lunch.

The reason why offspring that result from sexual reproduction are likely to have more diverse characteristics than offspring that result from asexual reproduction is because there are some traits that are more domonant than other traits like oval faces are more domonant than square faces. It is a confusing subject but once you have it down it is easy. The reason for this is that the cell goes throuh the phase mitoesis and it has both the oval and square face traits and wichever is more domonant comes out.

In our lab we swabbed different areas around our school looking for bacteria. my teamate and I predicted that There would more bacteria in the toilet. we were correct there were more bactiria in that area. there were more colnies and they were the largest we located in our pitri dish. We had one area and that was we cracked the augor. We observed after preparation of 24 hours and 48hours there was nothing. Only the toilet and water fountain colneis had bactiria in the fountain there was a very small one but nothing else. The sink Had no evidence of bacteria. Bacteria is every where. If we had observed for a longer time we might be able to see our bactiria grow more.

This is the prosess of mitosis:
The growing part of a mitosis is the longest period. During the cell cycle the DNA duplicates, and the protiens are producing. The cells will also grow in size. This is the first step called the interphase.
in the interphase the cells start to duplicate which then makes 2 cells during this stage the proteins are made.
in order produce the 2 sister cells the DNA in the cell MUST also be multiplyed. This occures in the synthesis phase. The chromosome splits into two twin chromosomes.The cell mom tells the daughters that they need to live.
These are the steps indevidualy (much better):
Interphase: the longest period . The DNA duplicates and the cell divide.
Prophase: In this stage the nucleolus starts to fades. The nucleolus then starts to meet together into the new chromosomes.
Prometaphase:The nucleolus envelopes break down. This stage is where the protein is mixed together and the 2 sister cells apear.
Metaphase: preasure is applied by the spindle fibers align all chromosomes in one plane at the core of the cell.
Anaphase: The spindles fibers are minimised and the 2 daughter cells are torn apart. they then travel to the cell pole.
Telophase: The daughter cells get to the cell pole and the spindle fibers that pulled the sister cells apart go away.
Cytokinesis: Contactile ring pryes the cell into 2 daughter cells. Then the new cytoskeleton is reorgonize by the microtubules and then they are returned to the interphase stage.
