Cheetahs

Habitat
Did you know that cheetahs used to be found all over Africa? Now they are only found in certain parts of Africa like open woodlands, grasslands, wide open spaces and the African Savannah, even high rocky outcrops. Now only 100 are left in the wild because they have been killed.

Behaviour
Cheetahs can run up from 5mph to 96mph.
Cheetahs mostly want to hunt gazelles, hare and antelopes and more. Cheetahs are carnivores so the eat meat.
They like tall grass to stalk their prey.

Predators
Humans are a predator to the cheetah because they hunt for the cheetah’s skin. These humans are named poachers, luckily for the cheetah there are people who kill the poachers and help endangered animals.
In Zoos animals face a danger of catching human diseases.

Diet
Cheetahs eat meat and animals such as antelopes, gazelles and even deer. In zoo’s they eat all kinds of meat or what zoo keepers feed them.

The Phantom Coach

Article posted June 30, 2010 at 01:03 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 239

A long time ago I heard a story which happened 20 years before, in 1887.
I was out walking back from my boring school when I became lost. It began to snow softly and then got harder. I knew I could not last long on one of these horrible nights. It was a cold and dark night. I didn’t have any warm clothes except for my ? jacket, that wasn’t any help. I saw a dim light up ahead. Once I got closer I saw and hear the shutters slamming. The wall had moss all around it. A man opened the door. I was a little bit scared, but he was nice. He gave me something to eat and drink. Then he let me on a little secret.
I set off confidently. I felt terrified and like I had butterflies in my stomach. I lost track of my precious time as it became cold, wet and dark. I was frightened when I hear the galloping of horses and the neighing. I blink back and saw a dark mail coach coming up behind me. I begged the two drivers if I could have a ride.

Camp

Article posted December 2, 2009 at 03:35 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 329

On the amazing Monday I thought I was dreaming. I was so excited about going to camp and doing Archery. First I missed the target, then I got the black, then I got the blue, then I got the red and then I got the balloon and popped it. It was awesome. My second best thing was the Kiwi Flier. But it gave me a terrible wedgy. My third best thing was abseiling. When you get past the top it is fun. For popping the balloon I got a reward. I got two lollipops. POP, POP, POP!!!
The Archery was in a big open paddock, not near any other activities. What? Do you think it was in the dining room? If it would have been, someone would have been badly hurt. But I loved the lollipop. It was hard concentrating to pop the balloon, because it was nearly lunchtime and I was so starving.

Under the Pohutukawa Tree

Article posted April 17, 2008 at 08:05 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 720

The waves break calmly on the sand. I hear seagulls squealing in the sky and I hear the leaves rustling above me. I can see little ships on the horizon as small as peanuts. I see surfers doing groovy tricks like cars flying over a ramp. I see the Pohutukawa flowers falling like snowflakes. I feel the blazing sun as it gets on my tummy. The hot sand is as hot as a hot water bottle.
