This blog is for Miss Jovanovich's algebra and geometry classes to share ideas, ask questions, and reflect on what skills and topics we are studying. If we are lucky, we might even get a chance to connect with other students studying the same stuff.

The last few geometry classes have unfortunately stopped being so easy. Last week we not only had a project due, but a test, and a slightly increased homework load, not to mention that i probably got a 'C' on the project, and an even worse grade on the test. Oh well at least next week will probably be better.

As the past week goes on and the weekend slowly comes to an end, I find myself, once again, sitting at my computer amazed by how simple geometry has been this past week. This week however it was not the class that was worrying me, it was the rather time consuming project that's due in two days, and while yes we've been given quite a while to do this project... I might have just started it on Saturday, which... is bad. Thankfully however as I got into it I found it to be quite easy and much less time consuming than I originally thought, and now after roughly an hour and a half of work, I'm almost done! Well regardless of my progress on that, I still have other homework to do, so that's it for now.

The past few weeks in geometry have been, once again, surprisingly easy as we continue to go over how to find the areas of polygons or simplifying radicals. Unsurprisingly however the homework load has not lightened, nor have these weekly blogs been postponed, and I'm sure that regardless of the simplicity of the material, the test that we are sure to take soon will inevitably confuse me. Until then however I'll enjoy the ease of the next week or so

This past week of school went so quickly that I find it difficult to remember anything that happened in school during the past few days. However what I do remember is that in geometry we went back to simplifying radicals, a topic which, in my opinion, is one of the easiest things to do apart from basic addition, subtraction, etc... so that's good. Other than that and the binder quiz we had, I think that's all.

Besides the recent break the last few weeks (of school) have been nothing out of the ordinary, for example in geometry we have (to the best of my memory) continued to play with scratch and prepare for the upcoming project about tessellation so... nothing new there... I think? Regardless of topic I'm sure I've forgotten or misplaced something about my past school week due to the now ended vacation, which is also (for reasons I unrelated to this blog) why I am absent from school today. Hope everyone had as good a break as I did and I'll see you tomorrow.

This past week in geometry we began doing something surprisingly easy to me: vectors, all it seams to be is a simple translation or rule that changes the position of points on a graph. In addition to learning about something easy we took a break from regular class to learn about scratch, a program which allows you to create you own simple programs quickly and easily without any coding. Finally as if to make my whole week better, I am now in Canada realizing that its Monday and that my blog is a day late, oh well at least I've had a good week

With the end of the third quarter comes the inevitable final tests in each, and every subject, as expected, however this past week for me has been a bit unusual given that I was under the impression that the quarter was ending... next week... and as I took the various tests in my classes, I merely assumed that they were of no (extra) significance, and it was not until lunch time on the past friday that it finally sunk in that grades were closing and I would have one last test (for which I had not studied), geometry. other than that the past week in geometry was unusually easy, we learned specific properties of parallelograms, and even colored for one class.

last week in geometry class we continued learning about the various lines of triangles, and even had a test. Overall the week should have been easy considering the amount of times we've gone over the material, however with wrestling season ending, and our coach pushing us to work harder and harder every day I was periodicity distracted from my homework and found myself slightly more tired during the day. Regardless I found this week easier than most, and I think I even did well on the quiz! Throughout the week I often found myself distracted from what I was doing, thinking how cool it would be to get home at 2P.M instead of 5P.M. but now I feel a little disappointed that the season is over, at least ill have more time for homework and studying. ...great...

Scratch

While browsing the scratch website I came across an interesting program that gives you a variety of shapes and asks you to make one of several different figures such as a square or hexagon. I like this program because it looks easy to make the figures but when you move and rotate the various shapes given to you the specific arrangement of shapes at different rotations becomes less and less apparent. the only thing I did not like about this particular program was the fact that it had some annoying music (toggle-able) and an annoying sound when ever you rotate a shape (not toggle-able.

Weekly Blog: Midterms

Article posted January 19, 2012 at 11:11 PM GMT • comment • Reads 48

In this coming week of school we have one of the hardest weeks in the school year (the other being finals) as we take the long 100-question tests made by each and every one of our teachers. Though this hardly comes as a surprise seeing as nearly all my teachers have been talking, advising, and reassuring people about the upcoming midterms, I (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) can't help but feel just a little bit nervous towards taking a test worth 20% of my semester grade. Well at least we get two half days!
