A Stranger on Mountainia

Article posted February 22, 2012 at 11:25 AM GMT+2 • comment (1) • Reads 381

Dear Diary,

Today, something very weird happened, someone discovered our settlement! How, I don’t know, but I will find out. We asked him if he was from another settlement, but sadly he was. He was very sick and he was also wounded, so we decided to keep him until he felt better. We don’t know from where came, and how, but we want to keep him because he sounds friendly. We will ask him if he would like to stay because we need all the help we can get.
The stranger also asked how we got here, and we tell him everything. Well he is kind. I would really really like him to stay, but that isn’t my choice, it is up to all of us. We will decide that next meeting. Well today was a good day, and lets hope it stays like that!

Why Certain Places Have Certain Foods

Article posted January 25, 2012 at 11:20 AM GMT+2 • comment • Reads 384

There are several reasons why certain places can be famous for a certain food.

Weather, land, and natural resources can favor the production of a certain food or crop, like mangoes in Africa, dates in California, United States, and apples in the mountains of Lebanon.

Culture and religion can prevent you from eating or drinking, like in Islam, they are not allowed to drink alcohol, and eat pork. In India, most people do not eat cow, because they worship them. So there are places which are famous for a food or drink, and places that are famous for not allowing a food or drink.

There are different cuisines in the world which reflect each country's culture, religion, and natural resources.

Ramlieh

Article posted January 24, 2012 at 02:02 PM GMT+2 • comment • Reads 419

I had mixed feelings about going to Ramlieh, and I thought that it was too late to change my mind, because the bus had already left the station. I was busy thinking…

2 Hours Later…

The snow was all around. My ears were blocked because of high altitude. I liked the feeling of cold snow and hot chocolate swirling in my mouth. I loved the smell of fresh air, and the sound of rain pouring made me smile in delight. I was in Ramlieh!!!

Ramlieh was fun, very fun. Especially because we had a party with the snacks I snuck up. It will be soon until I am caught. Tick Tock, Tick Tock…

Why I Chose Africa For My Tagxedo

I chose Africa because it has the most cultures in the world. I also chose Africa because I feel sorry for the poor people there.

Ms. Hite Matters

Ms. Hite Matters

I stopped by the new principal’s office to see how things were going and to learn more about Ms. Sandra Hite. Let’s see how things went:

How are you finding ACS so far?
I find it to be a warm community; it’s busy, fun, and challenging.

How many years have you been a principal?
Ten years.

Were you a teacher before being a principal?
Yes

Did you like it?
I loved it.

Did you like being a teacher or a principal more?
I still see myself as a teacher.

Did you have any jobs before being a teacher?
I tutored when I was in college and high school, and I worked in a hardware store, but after that straight to teaching.

How did you become a principal?
I was a teacher, and someone told me I would be a really good principal.

How did you feel?
I found it upsetting, because I was happy being teacher, but I finally tried it out and there is nothing different, except that you are being a teacher of the whole school.

Where have you served as a principal?
London, England; Beijing China; and Beirut, Lebanon.

At what age did you start your career?
I started at age 21.

How do you feel about being a principal here?
It suits me, I am working among some of the most dedicated people, everyone is delightful, has potential, and the school is challenging in a good way.

Last, are you enjoying your time here?
I am loving my time here.

I sincerely thank Mrs. Hite for her hospitality, for accepting to share her experience with us; and for her contributions and services at ACS. I hope she continues to enjoy her time here. She leaves us with this thought, ’’School should be a fun and happy place.’’

Looking Through the Telescopes in Dar El Amar

Article posted October 24, 2011 at 02:17 PM GMT+2 • comment • Reads 820

I was walking up the stairs to the roof of the building. I was about to burst with excitement. I could smell the metal and feel it too. The moon was beautiful. I could see all the craters, the dust, and how bright it was. I heard myself put my on the eyepiece and BOOM, there it was so bright in the sky, and also the second brightest object in the sky after the sun. I was so happy because I finally saw a moon through a telescope. Sadly, time passed by way to quickly and I felt Coach Wissam’s hand on my shoulder and I had to give someone else a turn.

Camping In Deir El Kamar

Deir El Kumar Trip

Dear Reader,
My name is Had.i I am in class 5D. Recently, I went with my class to Dar El Kumar. (Oct. 2011) We had fun.

First, when we got there we ate snack. We then ate a little snack of Tiramisu. We then setup our tents and had free-time for half an hour. I snuck up some candy with me and I started eating some of it. We then were called out to take a three hour hike! I found 15 fossils. The hike was so tiring I forgot what saliva tasted like. We had an eight mile hike! Finally, we got back and we were each given a water bottle. We then had lunch. At night some people looked through a telescope and I was one of them.

We at last had a campfire and Mr. Andre told us a story which happened two years ago. We went to sleep. I couldn’t sleep all night.

In the morning, we ate breakfast and then ate snack. We had activities, and sadly, we had to go. But it was really fun.
