We had write a letter to the minister of coservation to argue to get the funding for to get rid of our pest.

23 August 2009

The Honourable Tim Gosner
Minister of Conservation
Parliament Buildings
Wellington

Dear Mr Gosner

I’ve heard that there is funding available for pest control to deal with a major threat. There are lots of pests in NZ and I think wasps are the worst.

Firstly wasps ill native birds and the eggs which means less native birds like bellbirds, tuis and kakas.

Secondly wasps eat huge numbers of native insects which means less caterpillars, spiders, flies, bees, birds and ants.

Lastly wasps ting people and can be really annoying when people are on picnics. Also people could die if they are allergic to wasps.

In conclusion this pest is the worst because wasps damage NZ’s native bio diversity. Therefore we believe we should have the funding so we can make an advertising campaign to advise and warn the public about what impact wasps have on our environment.

Yours faithfully

Our model

Code cracker

It is a cylinder with two pieces of corticated cardboard on each end. The chimpanzees have to figger out how to get the food out so they can be feed. The reason why we are making this toy for chimpanzees is because the chimps can use sticks and tools like in the wild.

Materials
4 pins
2 pieces of corticated cardboard
1 cylinder
Glad rap

Splash as Seal tread water and kicked like mad. In the distance small rainbow fish are swimming down the currant as the cold water washes against his face. The water is as blue as the sky and the curly seaweed sways from side to side. The rocks make shadows in the water. The starfish and seashells are laying on the bumpy and soft sea bed. The bright orange crabs were dancing on top of the rocks. The icy cold water makes Seal feel like she is in a freezer. Whoosh as Seal speeds around stinging every fish in sight with her tentacles. Her antenna wiggles around furiously as she glides around. She is as fast as a shark. Her bright green peacock feathers lay flat as she speeds through the water. The bow in her hair holds the French plait. Her t-shirt has a huge heart on it, in fact, there are three. She has a hissing snake tongue which is poisonous so you will not like to go near her.

As people play in the shallows of the water Seals gets ready to pounce. Woosh as she speeds at her target… Ahh!, Seals stings the little girl. Seal goes from child to child. Each and everyone screams and run’s out of the water. Quickly the lifeguards block off the beach so nobody can swim in the water. Seals glides around looking for her next target but there is no-one in sight.

Holiday recount (reworked with teacher conferencing)
On the beach
We walked to the beach. The glistening sand was hot on my feet as I ran into the crashing waves Slowly I walked out to get my dark blue boogy board and ran back to start surfing. I could only surf in the shallows but it felt fun anyway. My brother joined me he has short blonde hair blue eyes and he is almost bald. We started shouting at dad to come in. Dad hop in. My dad is a strong man. He has muscles as big as a house. He slowly came in with his boogie board. Just as I got on it was time to go home. I calt a wave in. Land ahoy I shouted as I hit the boys came in after me and almost landed on top of me. I walked out to mum a gentlel young lady. She slowly wrapped me in my towel. We all walked home as the sun set behind us.

Under the Pohutukawa Tree

The waves are crashing onto the sand like a scream of terror. The trees sound like they are faintly whispering to the sun to take care of them. The sky is full of seagulls squawking like mad. The waves are tossing and turning like a person uncomfortable in a bed. I can see the shimmering soft sand. It looks as soft as a pillow. The flowers drop from the Pohutukawa tree like a butterfly fluttering her wings. They cover the dirt like a red carpet. The burning and blazing sun slices through me like a knife. I start to go as red as a beetroot. The sand feels as silky as my hair just after I have washed it. The petals are falling on me as gently as the rain spitting onto plants.
