Jumper by Third Eye Blind

“Jumper” by Third Eye Blind

I wish you would step back

From that ledge my friend

You could cut ties with all the lies

That you've been living in

And if you do not want to see me again

I would understand, I would understand

The angry boy a bit too insane

Icing over a secret pain

You know you don't belong

You're the first to fight

You're way too loud

You're the flash of light on a burial shroud

I know something's wrong

Well everyone I know has got a reason

To say put the past away

I wish you would step back

From that ledge my friend

You could cut ties with all the lies

That you've been living in

And if you do not want to see me again

I would understand, I would understand

Well he's on the table and he's gone to code

And I do not think anyone knows

What they're doing here

And your friends have left you

You've been dismissed

I never thought it would come to this

And I, I want you to know

Everyone's got to face down the demons

Maybe today

You could put the past away

I wish you would step back from

That ledge my friend

You could cut ties with all the lies

That you've been living in

And if you do not want to see me again

I would understand, I would understand

I would understand, I would understand

I would understand, I would understand

Can you put the past away

Have you ever been very sad? When you were sad did you listen to a sad song to help? Have you ever heard of the band Third Eye Blind? The song "Jumper" by Third Eye Blind is an awesome song because it is all about how the world should live in peace. This song is also about how you should not pick on someone to the point to where they want to commit suicide and then try to say sorry. This song tackles a major concern which is suicide. People all over the world commit suicide because of other people. This song just wants to try and end it all by basically saying step away from the verge of committing suicide and be happy. Don’t let other people get you down because the people who get you down are going to be the same people to try and pick you up. By the point when you have fallen by a person you’re not going to want to be picked up by that same person.

This song really is also a catchy song. It’s a song that I love to listen to when im alone trying to get work done. It may seem weird but this song is sort of a motivation to me because whenever someone picks on me I don’t let it get to me. The people who tell you this stuff are just typical low lives and you have to learn to brush them off. Those people are just reflections of what they wish they could be. What I mean by this is when they look at other people they try to look and act like other people therefore they are reflections of what they want to be. They only pick on people because they are trying to show off in front of their friends.

I try to stay away from people who are mean to other people because the world works better when there is no violence or anger. Knowing this world, it will never live in peace. The world will end before world peace happens. I really dont understand why people hate eachother though. You can't stop it, but you can make an effort to try and stop it. In my opinion, I would wrather try to change the world then live in a world full of violence, hate and anger. That is what i think this song is about. When you get a chance check it out. You won’t regret it. If you do. Oh well, deal with it.

Not Good Enough for Truth and Cliche

Article posted May 16, 2012 at 04:32 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 189

How you ever sat down and thought how a lot of songs have lyrics about Romeo and Juliet. How about when you listen to a song and it doesn’t use either Romeo or Juliet in it but they’re singing about the concept of Romeo and Juliet.  In the song “Not Good Enough for Truth and Cliché” by Escape the Fate they use lyrics that have to do with Romeo and Juliet. In this blog I am going to explain them.

In the lyrics of “Not Good Enough for Truth and Cliché” by Escape the Fate Ronnie the lead singer sings “Sitting in this room playing Russian roulette, finger on the trigger for my dear Juliet, out from the window see her back drop silhouette, there’s blood on my hands it’s something I cannot forget.” What these lyrics mean is Ronnie the lead singer is sitting in a room thinking of how if he can never see his girlfriend (Juliet) again he will kill himself.

This song does a great job depicting Romeo and Juliet. It depicts Romeo and Juliet well because he is basically describing how Romeo felt when he couldn’t see Juliet anymore like the suicidal thoughts, sadness, and anger. Listening to this song you can tell how depressed he is that he can’t see the one he loves.

In conclusion the song “Not Good Enough for Truth and Cliché” by Escape the Fate is a great song that has to do with Romeo and Juliet. When you get a chance you should really take the time to listen to it. I promise you, you will enjoy it.

Will I Fail?

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 04:28 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 385

April Freewrite

Were you ever worried you were going to fail? How about thinking that you couldn’t pass for the year? This is how I feel about me and my 9th grade year.

Will I fail?
Will I be here for another year?
Why can’t I do one thing without staying on topic?
I want to pass.
I want to move on with my friends.
I don’t want to get stuck back with the eighth graders.
Will I pass?
Will I try my best to pass?
Will I just not try?
Will I just give up?
Will I take summer school?
Will I take home school next year?
I don’t want to fail.
I don’t want to take summer school.
I don’t want to take home school.
I guess I’ll just wait and see.

Dear Freshman, Good Luck

Article posted May 8, 2012 at 03:36 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 564

Dear Freshmen,
This year is going to be tough but if you do your work you will be fine. The teachers are really easy to get along with. As long as you do your work they will be your best friends. They always try to be funny especially Miss. Transue. Sometimes there jokes are funny but most of the times there lame Cough, Cough, Transue Cough.
Freshmen year is actually really fun if you make it fun. The events that the freshmen classes do are fun. For example Pep rally, school dances, etc… For my freshmen year my favorite class was either English or science. Only because you do awesome stuff in those classes. That is just my opinion though. Good luck next year, you’re going to need it.
Sincerely,
Kyler DeGrote

The Devil Wears Prada

Free Writing March

Do you like loud music? What about screamo? Have you ever heard of The Devil Wears Prada?

The Devil Wears Prada is a screamo band and one of my favorite bands to listen to. They lyrics always have a meaning and the meaning is never pointless. Whenever they cover a song they make it sound so much then the original version of the song. For example they redid a rap song by Big Tymers called ‘Still Fly’. I liked rap music more then screamo until I heard this song. For some reason it just sounds so much better this way.

This year I’m hoping to get tickets to warped tour so I can see them and other bands also. Incase you don’t know what warped tour is I will tell you. Warped tour is a huge concert that consists of a whole bunch of bands. Some bands that I’m hoping to see there are The Devil Wears Prada (TDWP), Black Veil Brides (BvB), Bring Me the Horizon (BMTH), A Day To Remember (ADTR), Asking Alexandria (AA), and many more. Hopefully you guys will listen to some of these bands, especially The Devil Wears Prada, and understand why I like there music so much.

Making Money

Article posted March 7, 2012 at 05:21 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 530

In the song “I need a dollar” by Aloe Blacc a Marxist would criticize the lyrics.

First, a Marxist would criticize the lyrics to this song because it is about a poor guy who is barely making enough cash to make his way through life and he cannot get any more money from anywhere. This person has a rich boss and He keeps asking his boss for help and the boss wont help him out what so ever. In the song Aloe Blacc even says “Please mister boss man, I need this job more than you know But he gave me my last paycheck and he sent me on out the door.”
Unfortunately Aloe Blacc is barely making ends meet and he really needs someone who has a lot of money to help him out. All of the rich people are all mean and stubborn though and won’t let him have any money. All Aloe Blacc wants is to make sure everyone has equal wealth and make sure that no one is too rich and no one is too poor.
In conclusion a Marxist would criticize the song “I need a dollar” by Aloe Blacc. They would criticize this song because everyone treats Aloe bad because he doesn’t have any money to live life and a Marxist is all for everyone having equal wealth.

In a Well

November Free Write
Picture this. You and your friend are playing tag then BAM! Next thing you know your friend is in a well. You don’t know what to do so you call up your friend. In this situation Karly would be the one in the well and I would be the one to call Megyn to come help me get Karly out of the well. When Megyn finally got to the well she looked down at Karly and busted out laughing. I started laughing too. We couldn’t help it. It was just so funny seeing Karly lying at the bottom of the well. Megyn was laughing so hard that she fell in the well too. Karly was laughing at Megyn now. I was so confused. I didn’t know what to do all I knew was that my friends were in a well and I didn’t know how to get them out.

I then thought of a brilliant plan. I went and got a rope with a bucket and when I got back to the well I would throw the bucket down and have them get in it one at a time and I would pull them up. When I tried this plan it succeeded and when they got out I laughed at them so they threw me down the well. They started laughing at me and when I got out we all went to another place to play tag and instead of a well being there there was a huge hole and we all fell in it until Kyle K. and Emily P. came skipping by and they laughed at us and they helped me out.
