This is a place for students from grades 4 - 7 to write about their research projects, book club book reviews and to learn to use 21st Century technology skills. It is an invitation to see what students in my library research classes are researching, learning and sharing. We learn from positive, constructive feedback not negative criticism. Please notice our successes, not our mistakes.

In class were doing literature circles. I was assigned Touching Spirit Bear. The plot is about a rebellious teen named Cole. One day he stole from a hardware store and was bragging about it at school.A boy named Peter heard the story and told a teacher.Cole got detention,Cole was furious at him and after school he beat him senseless and smashed his face in the sidewalk. He was going to go to a detention center but then his parole officer talks to him about circle justice.Circle justice is about healing and not punishment. They have some meetings and come to an agreement that Cole must stay on a remote Alaskan island for a year.

More happens but I really like it.It has a very good choice of words and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind explicit violence

In class were discussing privacy policies. We looked at the privacy policies for 3 websites, Nabisco World, NeoPets and Hasbro.I learned that some websites sell your email to people so they can spam advertise your email. I found out that Hasbro doesn't give any of your info away but they simple use it to improve there products. I think that Nabisco has the worst because you have to give very personal info like your phone number.

I learned that websites collect a whole load of stuff about you

On Web Café I learned that not everything is what you think it is. I found out that by simply hovering the mouse over a link or ad tells you where it goes. I also learned a lot about emails and they can be spam or sob stories. I also learned that whenever there’s a website about gambling or to hate certain people you shouldn’t go on it. I also learned that ads are usually deceiving like saying you won a prize so they can have your personal information. In the end I learned that the internet can be useful, but also evil.
