Think Before You Act

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 06:42 PM GMT • comment • Reads 224

In the myth we read in language arts, some of the characters did not think before he acted. If he was patient and thaought of the consequences, he would of not made a bad decision. Because of his choice, he suffered. This really shows that people in life should not act very quickly before they think of what would happen in end. There might not be as many of accidents if people though ahead of time. So, if I was the character, I would of said "I made the wrong decision. I did not think before I acted. Now I have to face the consequences of a bad choice. I have learned my lessen."

Speech

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 11:52 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 82

In language arts, I would be best giving a speech on talking about how schools should not give out homework to students. I don't understand why teachers give out assignments after a long day of working hard to students that are already exhausted! Also, teachers most likely don't want to spend their free time grading long, challenging, homework. Students have extra activities outside of school and they might not alway have extra time to do the assignments.

Federal Government

Article posted April 11, 2012 at 11:58 PM GMT • comment • Reads 44

In the world today, federal government could improve upon many things and could fund different carees and buisnesses. I think that the top three would be education, medicare, and defense. There are many schools that have a lot of supplies and an excellent education. Unfortunatly, there are many other schools that don't and they simply can not afford to make good changes. The government needs to change this so that ALL students and schools are learning to the best of their ability. Next, medicare is most definatly in the top three because a lot of citizens are complaining that there is just not good medicare anymore. Everyone has the right to recieve the best medical attention and if they feel it can improve, it needs to. Especially when there is good medical attention, the bills are way to expensive and take years to pay off one bill. Defense may be first in the top three. There always can be improvments of defense because without help when in danger, people will constantly be dying. When there is a chance to save a life, taking a risk needs to happen. Also, millitary is so important because there fighting for our country and for our lifes. Without them, I don't know where we will be.

Althletes

Article posted April 11, 2012 at 11:30 PM GMT • comment • Reads 58

In the article "Do Professional Althletes Get Paid Too Much?" by Justin Hjelm, the author explains and takes a stand to say that professional althletes are paid way too much for what they do. I completely agree and want to take a stand with him. Athletes play because they want to play, it is their hobby and talent. There are many people that have a hobby and pay to even get a chance to play. Professionl athletes get paid, they don't pay others. To me, this is not fair. Therefore, I agree with Justin Hjelm.

Nationalism

Article posted March 20, 2012 at 04:26 PM GMT • comment • Reads 75

I think that Tolkien felt that nationalism is an important aspect of preventing war. In the book "The Hobbit" he portrays the dwarfs as very loyal and respectful to the people and nation. In this way, the reader has a knowledge about war in general. Without having loyalty and nationalism, war would become more frequent and common. If Tolkien was alive, he would say that war would happen within a countrie and others, if we didnt have such a thing as nationalism.

When I look for a friend, I notice and search for traits that stand out positivley in a person. One trait that stands out most in a person, is being able to trust them. If you can't trust somebody you know, you don't perfer to tell that person you secerts or thoughts because you know they will spread your comment around to everybody else. Although, a good friend will not share your secerts to other people and you know that they are trustworthy. Another trait is being postive. I don't like when someone around me always complains. Eventually, this person makes me in a bad mood as well. I would definaltly be postive rather than negative in many different situations. Also, a good friend or person is kind and caring. I think this trait is very important in a person because being nice to everybody can change many peoples lifes. If everyone went around beind nice and kind, no one would ever feel left out. There are many important traits in a person to make them a good friend.

Welcome Change!

WELCOME CHANGE

By: Sri Chinmoy

Don't resist;
Be flexible.
Don't be rigid;
Be supple.
Welcome change!
Each change
Is an illumining opportunity
To knock at the door
Of fulfilling progress sweet.

This poem is similar to the other poems talking about new change, that is also written by Sri Chinmoy. One of the poems says that the mind is telling you that change is scary, but the heart is telling you that change is powerful.

This poem is similar to my life for different reasons. One of the main reasons is that I don't always expect change and I want everything to stay the same as it is. Other times, change is a good thing. Even though I don't always want to change to happen, I know that I should be open minded.

This poem is similar to what is happening to the world today because the world is not going to change. The only thing that can change is you. If you except and welcome change, it will be an opportunity.

My Family

Article posted December 12, 2011 at 03:18 AM GMT • comment • Reads 91

My family is what matters most because they mean so much to me and I don't know what I would do without them. Scrooge in The Christmas Carol does not care anything about his family. All he cares about and wants is money. My answer is different compared to Scrooge beacuse I do not care about money as much as much as I care about my family.

Mystery Setting

Article posted November 15, 2011 at 09:25 PM GMT • comment • Reads 67

I think that a perfect "closed setting" for a mystery story would be a haunted hotel. This would make the story mysterious because you do not know if the hotel is haunted or not unless you stay at that hotel. A couple years ago, I watched a Halloween show on T.V. Two ladies got stuck in a elevator at a hotel becuase of a lightning storm. They did'nt make it out and ever since then the hotel was haunted. This show had a very good setting and made the story more suspensful.

Fear

Article posted October 31, 2011 at 12:01 AM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 108

Fear affects us in many ways. For some people, fear makes us motivated. For others, fear makes us nervous and hinder. I don't always get nervous from fear, but when I do, it keeps me from trying new things. For example, at my dance competitions I don't have fear when I compete because if I do, I end up not doing well or placing. Sometimes, I see people competing on stage and they freeze and stop dancing becuase they have fear. At one competion in Washington, I was really nervouse with fear. I went to do my first dance and I forgot all my steps. It took me a couple of seconds to remember what my dance was and I started dancing again. I ended up not placing at all. This is how fear affects me and other as well.
