Think Before You Act

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 01:17 PM GMT • comment • Reads 383

In the ancient myth, Prometheus was a very short tempered person. When Zeus didn't tell him what he wanted, he thought without acting. With out listening to wisdom, he took maters into his own hands. Though he had no idea how badly the re precautions were going to be. I think that some times when I'm mad, I don't think about what I'm doing and act foolishly. It's best to reflect for a minute on how the out come of the circumstance could end up. I think that is something I need to work on when I don't get my way. Just like Prometheus. So I think that most times than others I reflect on what I'm doing. Though the hardest times are when I'm mad.

The Three Things That The Government Should Pay For

Article posted April 6, 2012 at 03:15 PM GMT • comment • Reads 334

There are three things in my opinion that I think the government should Fund. I will talk about the homeless, military, and the nation's debt. First of all, the homeless are becoming a majority of our society. If we don't take action now, the streets could become a catastrophe. Without funds we can't fix this problem. Secondly, the military is a problem. Without the military we won't even have a choice of what we want to do with our money. It will belong to some other country with a better military. So without a military, we have nothing, so that defiantly comes first. Last, our nation's debt. It has become so large, pretty soon we will belong to China. If we don't pay it off soon, this could become a huge problem. So what we do with our money is very important and I think that we should spend it wisely.

Article posted April 4, 2012 at 03:31 PM GMT • comment • Reads 342

Pro Athletes are not over paid. There are many reasons that that they get payed such a large amount. Here are three reasons why. First of all, they only work for a short amount of time. They need to save up for the rest of their life. So they should get paid a lot of money to save up. Secondly, they bring in lots of fans and advertisement. It pays for it's self. Lastly they inspire kids to become professional athletes. It provides a good and stable career. So that's why they get paid so much.

Is The Hobbit an Allegory C

Article posted March 20, 2012 at 04:59 PM GMT • comment • Reads 431

One of the causes of World War 1 was when a person got assassinated. Once this happened, the events just kept on snowballing. They just kept getting worse and worse resulting in a world war. This was similar to the battle in the hobbit because they both were over little unimportant things. Like in the hobbit, they fought over treasure. Then in World War 1 they fought over just one death. So both wars/battles were fought over silly things. They could have been easily avoided. Lastly I think that the fake war ended up better. It was on a much smaller scale of people dying and not as bloody. So it was much better than World War 1.

It's A Brand New Day (Change Song)

Article posted February 24, 2012 at 01:06 AM GMT • comment • Reads 389

For my song I chose "It's a Brand New Day" By: Joshua Radin. The reason I chose this song is because it relates to new challenges or changes in the new year. I really like this song because it talks about making your past your past so you can focus on the present. Here is the lyrics of the song:

Some kind of magic
Happens late at night
When the moon smiles down on me
And bathes me in its light

I fell asleep beneath you
In the tall blades of grass
When I woke the world was new
I never had to ask

Its a brand new day
The sun is shining
Its a brand new day
For the first time
In such a long long time
I know
Ill be ok

Most kind of stories
Save the best part for last
Most stories have a hero who finds
You make your past your past
Yeah you make your past your past

Its a brand new day
The sun is shining
Its a brand new day
For the first time
In such a long long time
I know
Ill be ok

This cycle never ends
Gotta fall in order to mend

And its a brand new day
Its a brand new day
For the first time
In such a long long time
I know
Ill be OK

For my text to text, I would pick the lines that most stories save the best part for last. Also most have a hero. So it reminds me that it will end up okay and there will be a change like a hero.
For my Text to world I would pick the part about the moon shining down on me. It says it bathes me in its light. I think that relates to the world pretty well.
For my text to self I pick all of it. I like listening to this song on my iPod a lot. It reminds me that no matter what happens it will all be okay and it is a brand new day.

Hole in My Side Walk

Article posted February 23, 2012 at 11:07 PM GMT • comment • Reads 408

In L.A. we read a poem about falling into a poem over and over again. I think that the hole in my side walk would be having an attitude with my parents. I know that it's there and I shouldn't do it but I keep falling in to the hole. So the next time that I see the hole in the side walk, or want to have and attitude, I will choose to go around it. Or maybe I could just take a different side walk and completely avoid it. So the poem about the hole in the sidewalk is very important.

What I Couldn't Live Without

Article posted December 8, 2011 at 03:00 AM GMT • comment • Reads 427

When I think back to Scrooge and how he has not family or friends, that's the thing I wouldn't be able to live with out. Over the holidays I love spending time with my family and friends. I don't know what I would do with out all of that. The thing I like most about family is when every one at school rejects you, your family won't. It's like no matter how much you mess up or embarrass your self your family still loves you. They and maybe some close friends are the only ones who know who you really are and that's why they love you no matter what. So family and close friends are the most important thing in my life that I couldn't live with out.

Closed Setting

Article posted November 16, 2011 at 03:49 AM GMT • comment • Reads 53

If I were to make a mystery story with a closed setting this would be it. The place the story would take place is a big mansion with locked windows doors etc. This way if a crime was committed then the criminal would be trapped in the house along with every one else. Then every one would wonder who it is and it would get really spooky. So if you're trapped in a house with any one being a murderer, it would be pretty freaky. So if I were to make a mystery novel, I believe that this would be the perfect setting to pick.

How Does Fear Affect Me?

Article posted October 26, 2011 at 01:30 AM GMT • comment • Reads 139

Fear affects me in many ways depending on the type of fear. When I am scared to an extent I go into a defense mode. But in general, I take it as a threat. I don't necessarily like the fact that I'm afraid of some thing so I try to defeat that fear and get to the bottom of it. Like in sports, If I'm scared of a team and what the out come might be. I make sure that I do everything I can do to beat them or come over that fear. So when I am afraid of some thing, I don't like it so I try to beat it. Also some times when I have a lot of fear I will do things that I think I couldn't do so in a way it's like adrenaline. So it really depends on the time and how much fear I have that it affects me.

Thoughts on School

Article posted October 5, 2011 at 03:09 AM GMT • comment • Reads 42

My thoughts about school so far are pretty positive. I really like my teachers and my classes are pretty fun and exiting. My only class I don't enjoy is French. But the rest are pretty fun. It's fun to see all my friends again. This year I want to be more organized than last year. I plan to have a really good year and get straight A's or pretty close to that. So when I get an assignment I'm going to do it as soon as possible and not get behind. So I'm really looking forward to a good and year and want to have a lot of fun.
