Budget Priorities

Article posted April 5, 2012 at 03:19 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 183

I believe that the government is spending money on the wrong things. Instead of spending money on nuclear war objects, they should be buying the items we need for our economy to survive and to last for a very long time. Money is just some green paper with a fancy design so why can't every body have it? We could even be saving trees if the government would make a system where we could get electronic money through the computer. Since the internet is so popular and the world is going into the computer generation, it would be a lot easier and eco- friendly. The government should be spending OUR tax money on oil and fossil fuels so that we have electricity. Mainly they should be spending it on figuring out a way to turn ocean and salt water into fresh water since it is very scarce. What do you think?

Are Professional Athletes Paid To Much?

Article posted April 4, 2012 at 02:38 PM GMT • comment • Reads 43

Have you ever heard about someone getting paid 9.5 million dollarsjust to sign a contract? I have! Are we paying our professional athletes more than what they are worth? Should we be paying our professional athletes to play a sport they love to do? Even if you just wanted them to sign a contract to be on your team, we shouldn't have to pay them, they should just do it! If they have a passion for that specific sport they should just do it! For example, Peyton Manning gets paid 9.5 million dollars to sign a contract. Every time he makes a touchdown he will get paid even more money every year. Also, Tim Tebow took the Broncos to the top of the food chain. He didnt even get paid the amount of money he deserved, he got paid less! As soon as a better oppurtunity came around, the Broncos threw him under the bus! Athletes are paid either too much or too less for what they are worth. If they want to play the sport that they love, pay them the average sallary of any other athlete or any coach will or is getting paid. Cassandra O.

Holes In My Sidewalk

Article posted February 7, 2012 at 03:54 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 85

There are ways that people can have a hole in their sidewalk. Mainly when they do drugs, drink, and smoke is when they have holes in their sidewalk.

One hole in my sidewalk would have to be learning things the hard way... Usually, people learn their lesson the first time, I learn the third or fourth time. When I was jumping on the trampoline, it was raining outside. After I had slipped and fell off the first time, I cut my knee. I decided to hop right back on and do it again. The second time I slipped, I scraped my elbow, and I decided to do it again. Finally, I fell and hit my butt really hard on a BIG rock. That is when I decided to stop. My butt hurt for a really long time....... So I guess that a hole in my sidewalk would have to be learning things the hard way.

Change

Article posted January 17, 2012 at 05:36 PM GMT • comment • Reads 41

Many says, I want change

Want change in my time

Want change in my life

I want a change badly

I want change, many say

They pray for a change

They wish for a change

They look for a change

But they will not change

They just wait for change

It never happens to them

It will never ever happen

By mere prayer or wish

It must start from inside

With tons of determination

Change is not so easy

It takes lots of time

So it needs determination

The will to make change

The will to see change

Then only things will change

Then only time will change

Then only life will change

So go and get change

To see the bliss of change

Kranthi Pothineni

This poem is like the speech that Martin Luther King Junior preached about him "Having A Dream."

This poem is also relating to my life in the way in which if I want change to enjoy it then be the change.

This poem is telling the world that we are the change and that we need to be determined to be the change. For example, in Japan with all the damage that has happened, many people are being the change they want to be and helping improve the world.

What Matters?

Article posted December 13, 2011 at 01:34 AM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 82

The thing that I believe I would not be able to live without would have to be my family. My family is the one thing that keeps me going in life. If I didn't have a family, you probably wouldn't know me as the person I am today. My family is there for me when I am down or having a hard day. They keep me to my goals and never let me give up on the things I love to do. My family is the one thing that truly matters to me and I wouldn't be able to live without them. What is the one thing you wouldn't be able to live without? Please comment!!!

Mysterious Settings

Article posted November 15, 2011 at 01:47 AM GMT • comment • Reads 62

I believe that a perfect mysterious setting would be a mansion in which a crime scene had taken place. Where there are clues and riddles hidden everywhere in the house. A simple mystery to be drawn about everywhere.

Which short story that we read this quarter was your favorite? Why?

Article posted October 6, 2011 at 03:47 PM GMT • comment • Reads 46

The most interesting short story that we read this year has to be "The Titanic". It was a wonderful love story with tons of irony. It was very ironic because we all knew that the boat was going to hit an ice berg and sink, and there were many hints through out the entire story. I believe this story was very well written and it was a fun reading!!!
What was your favorite short story? What do you think about mine?

Dear Employer,
I believe that the job title you are offering is a perfect fit for me. I am persistent, reliable, organized, trustworthy, hard-working, and bilingual.
As I get older, I always try out for everything. If I don't make it happen I keep on trying and never give up until it happens.
My mother and father were both born in Puerto Rico. They spoke both Spanish and English. I thrived to learn my cultural language and I succeeded.
Please consider me for the provided opening.
Sincerely,
Cassandra O.
