The Hockey Game

Article posted April 24, 2013 at 04:31 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 26

Once upon a time there were two crazy animals. They were at their homes talking to their parents about hockey one night.

Their names were Zoe, the bearded dragon and Striker, the snake. Zoe played on the Bulldogs and Striker played on the Mice.

Zoe's leg always would scratch on her side, which made it hard for her to skate.

Striker said to his parents, "Who am I facing tonight at hockey?"

Striker's parents replied, "You are facing the Bulldogs."

At the same time that was going on, Zoe asked her parents the same thing Striker asked his, "Who are we facing tonight at hockey?"

Zoe's parent replied, "You are facing the Mice."

Zoe and Striker were thinking the same, "They are going down tonight!"

Strikers parents asked Striker, "Did you pack your bag?"

Striker replied,"Yes."

At the same time that was going on Zoe was talking to her parents about that night.

"I need my skates sharpened, "Zoe said to her dad. Zoe wasn't confident in herself.

Zoe said to her parents, "I suck because of my leg."

Zoe`s parents said, "You don't suck, your leg will heal in a few days or maybe tonight.

Both Striker and Zoe were on their way to the rink. They both went into the dressing room.

They put their shin pads, socks, pants, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, jersey, mouth guard, helmet, gloves and skates on.

Striker and Zoe went on the ice after the big blue Zamboni went off.

Zoe led the cheer, "One two three...BULLDOGS!" the team yelled.

On the other team Striker was leading the cheer. "1,2,3,"Striker yelled.

The team yelled back, "Mice!"

Zoe was center and so was Striker.

The game started. Striker carried the Canada puck down the ice, he shoots and a nice save by the Bulldogs' goalie.

In a few minutes, Zoe skated down the ice on a break away, but Striker caught up to her.

Striker said to Zoe, "You suck, you are way too slow for me."

Zoe just skated away.

The game was in the 2nd period. The score was 2-0 for the Mice.

Zoe skated down the ice on another break away, Striker could not catch up to Zoe, Zoe shot and the puck, and scored!!!

That happened again and Zoe scored the game tying goal.

The game was tied 2-2.

Zoe said to Striker, "I just got better and now you can't catch up to me."

Striker replied, "I know, I guess you are just as fast as I am."

The season was over. Striker and Zoe made up. The next season they were on the same team. They were best friends now. They learned that you can always get better.

THE END

Leprechauns

Article posted March 15, 2013 at 09:01 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 77

Leprechauns are awesome! They wear green hats, shirts and pants every day of the year. Leprechauns like gold, shamrocks and shiny things for good luck. Leprechauns are about two feet tall. They are about the size of a two year old child. I thought they were smaller. Leprechauns love to make shoes. You probably think that there's only one big pot of gold but every leprechaun has his own pot of gold. Some people call leprechauns Irish fairies or an elf. Leprechauns are super duper, duper tricky to people. Did you know leprechauns can only be boys, not girls? Leprechauns love gold; they live on gold. Leprechauns hate living near people. They live in a far away place.

These are the steps that of how I am going to catch a tricky leprechaun. The first step I am going to do is I'm making a trap a few days before March 17. In the trap there is going to be yummy, yummy Lucky Charms, real gold money, gold glitter glue, a box, string, and tape. I need the tape to tape the string to the box so I can trap the leprechaun. Step two, on the night before St.Patrick's day I would go to bed for about five hours and then wake up at 1:00a.m. Step four, I would look downstairs and see if the leprechaun was in the trap at the front door. I hope my idea works.

I wonder what I am going to spend the gold I get from the leprechaun on. Maybe, I will get a huge mansion for my whole family. I might be able to get more pets if my parents let me. I would need a locker for all my gold. I would put a lock on the locker so no one could get into my locker. I would put gold in the locker. I really want a red eyed tree frog. I love Hawaii so I would buy my family tickets to Hawaii. I would give some of the money to N.I.C.U. to save babies lives. I wish I could be a leprechaun.

My Family

Article posted February 28, 2013 at 04:21 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 87

My family is way better than ice cream with chocolate sauce and a cherry on top. My family and I live in Regina. We live in Garden Ridge. There are four family members in my family. There is my mom Jodi, my dad Chad, my brother Josh and me. We also have ten pets. They are reptiles, and crustaceans.

My mom is the best! I love to play sports with my mom like soccer and kickball in the backyard. I like helping my mom with preschool work at home. I love watching "Wheel of Fortune" with my mom. My mom takes me to my sports like hockey, soccer and field hockey. I love to bake with my mom. My mom helps me with my homework.

My dad is awesome! My dad takes me to my sports and coaches me in hockey, he makes us skate. I love watching the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Team on TV together. We also like watching the Canucks. My dad has his own company called Spring Green Homes. My dad and i like going out to the lake in the summer and in the winter. In the summer we like to swim out to the pontoon and sink the edge. In the winter we like to watch movies and go skating.

I love playing with my brother. My brother Josh and I love to stay at home together when my mom and dad are at a party. We watch a movie with popcorn, and chocolate bars. We like playing the PS3, but before we play we have to do jobs mom tells us to do. To make the jobs fun we put music on our phones while we do our jobs. My brother helps me raise the puck on the driveway after school. Josh and I sometimes fight but we still love each other.

My pets rock! I have ten pets altogether. I have three geckos named Crush, Cola and Google, one salamander Jello, one snake Stricker, one bearded dragon Zoe, and six hermit crabs: Izzy, Bizzy, Happy, Grumpy, Bootsbooty and Wild Cat. The three geckos are in my brother's room in their cage. Cola our one gecko bit Crush's tail off. We named Jello because she feels like jello. Our snake is in my brother's room locked up. Striker does not bite. He is friendly. Josh and I got a bearded dragon from Mrs. Fazakas because we babysat it on a P.D day. I got six hermit crabs when I was little, now I only have four. I love my family!!

Loons

Article posted January 21, 2013 at 04:28 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 90

The Loon is a very interesting looking bird. The Loon can get up to 2-3 feet long which is long for a bird. Loons are grey in the winter with a beautiful white bottom. They are black and white in the summer as they swim across crystal clear lakes. The adult Loon can weigh up to 8-12 pounds. The Loon has bright eyes. It would be neat to be a loon!!

The Loons make their nest by water. The mother Loon can lay up to 2 eggs in the nest. The Loon eggs are brown with dark splotches. The male Loon picks the location of where they build their nest. It takes 26-29 days for the eggs to hatch in the nest. The baby Loons stay with their mom and dad for 3 months. It is a good thing that people stay with their parents for more than three months!

Did you ever wonder what the Loon's habitat looks like? The Loon can be up in the air or on water. That is their habitat. The Loon needs a very crystal clear lake so they can see the fish in the water. The Loon needs at least 30 meters to get off the water. The Loon has an interesting habitat.

Loons mostly eat yummy fish. Loons eat Perch and Sunfish in the summer. They eat Atlantic Croaker in the winter. The loons eat the fish head first. Loons are expert fishers all the time and they sure like fish!

The Loon has four different calls. The tremelo is to announce presence. To announce presence means to tell everyone you're there. The wail, the second call, is meant to find or figure out where the other Loon is. The third call is the yodel. The yodel is the male saying, "This is my territory". Only males use this call. The fourth call is the hoot. The hoot is a soft and short call to keep in contact. Each male loon has a different call. The four calls are pretty eerie. Eerie means kind of scary. The loons call are very cool to hear.

There are a lot of cool facts about Loons. Loons are definitely not graceful on land. If the Loon flies to a pond that is under 30 meters long they will get stranded. The heart of a Loon slows down under water so it saves oxygen. The Loon has very strong and solid bones. The Loon is a carnivore which means it is a meat eating animal. The Loon can eat frogs, salamanders, and crayfish. A bald eagle can eat a Loon. The baby Loons don't start flying until they are two months old. The mom and dad keep their babies on their back so predators don't get them. The parents take turns incubating the eggs. Did you know Minnesota's state bird is the loon? The Loon makes a lot of noise at night so that no one can sleep. I spend the whole summer with loons at my lake. Loons are one of my favourite birds ever!

Trying to Save the Environment

Article posted January 17, 2013 at 10:18 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 50

Our environment is very special to us. It is special because that's where we live and we need the environment so we can stay alive . One of the most important things is not to litter. Some people put cigarets and food wrappers on the ground. If you drop something on the ground like garbage please pick it up! Please, because lots of the animals could die if everyone littered. Do you like animals? If you do please help the environment. A company I know is called Ten Tree because every time they sell a clothing they plant ten trees. So please make our environment better!!!
