Current Event Assignment

Article posted December 6, 2012 at 02:04 AM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 284

My current events about the Catholic Church relate to our studies because of how we are learning that the Catholic Church is very religious. My articles talked about Bishops admitting their sins and how Yoga can affect the church. The Catholics do everything in the eye of God and inspect on things that are not usually considered Catholic. We learned that for a long time the Catholic Church has been this way. My articles show that the Catholic Church still carries on old traditions from over 300 years ago.

The impact on society that these two articles bring is that the Catholic Church really wants you to learn more about God. They want you to have faith in God. The catholic wants Society to know that they want full respect from you and that they will respect your faith. They want you to get the full effect of God and want to help you. That is why they band certain activities or sometimes need to apoligize for their sins. The Catholic Church wants you to love God and belive in him and get his full word.

A World Without Pictures

Article posted October 24, 2012 at 07:02 PM GMT • comment (7) • Reads 957

A world without pictures is hard to think about? It would be so unusual. But I think it would be harder to understand the things around us. It would be hard to record things that words cannot explain. It would be harder to describe events in the past or events in the future. A world without pictures would be filled with more judgment than we have today, people would question whether whatever you are saying really did happen. A world without pictures simply isn’t imaginable but it is truly a great wonder.

My Lit Book

Article posted October 2, 2012 at 06:11 PM GMT • comment (5) • Reads 1070

In my book I think the main character in the Shakespear Stealer will eventually leave his foster parents. Widge will get tired of taking orders from his foster parents and will finally have enough courage to leave. He will run far, far, away from them and will find a new foster parent. Maybe even Shakespear himself.  I think the connections from my book to the Middle Age time period is the person the story surrounds which is William Shakespear. He was a very popular play director during the Middle Age time period.

Middle Ages Politics

Article posted September 7, 2012 at 02:37 PM GMT • comment (3) • Reads 1400

My focus topic was politics in the Middle Ages. Politics in the Middle Ages includes kings and Queens Manors and Serfs. One of thr main focus points in the Middle Ages was Fuedalism. FUedalism is the process in which a king gives land to manors and the manors provide protection and loyalty to the kings. Then the Manors would give land to poor serfs and the serfs would give them protection and food. Politics in the Middle Ages was similar to the way AMerica operates today. In America we try to save money during huge wars, that is what the Middle Ages did. The Middle Ages was a very Dark time. There were struggles and a long boring time. People in the Middle Ages did not really pay attention to politics in the Middle Ages. They obeyed the Kings and Queens each and everyday.

Meideval Times

Article posted August 22, 2012 at 07:22 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1288

I am excited about learning about the Mideval Times. I want to learn about the religion and whta were some of the great battles about. I like to learn about the old days of the world because i like to see how far the world has come over thousands of years.

I will learn these things by watching movies on the subject. I will read books on the crusades and other wars and battles that the Mideval Times consisted of. I will also look on websites any time I have any questions about the Medieval Times.

Tuskegee Airmen

Tuskegee Airmen

The Tuskegee Airmen was an inspiring story about African American pilots. The book taught me about the Airmen through a teacher and his class. The students ask questions that are usually never answered by everyday people. Tuskegee Airmen talks about the men and how they were they were mistreated and considered a disgrace to other people that weren’t like them. The Tuskegee Airmen is a book that not only tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen but in a way that both children and adults will understand.

John Comyn

John Comyn

John Comyn was often called the Earl of Buchan. He was a member of Clan Comyn a group in the early 14th century. He was a chief opponent of Robert The Bruce a powerful Scottish leader. Robert and John were leaders in a 14th century civil war that both sides argued for independence. John Comyn had a cousin named John Comyn III who was killed by Bruce in Dumfries in 1306. John Comyn agreed to assist Bruce for the sake of the civil war between France and Scotland.

From about 1300 to 1304 the civil war of Scotland was also the war or fight for power for the Comyns. John Comyn and a few of his cousins decided that they were going to fight the other side of their family for power and over parts of Scotland. John did not just want to fight his cousins he wanted to fight the Native people that lived there. His cousins set up armies around the boarder of Scotland. His cousins placed him in Galloway where his cousins and parts of France attacked Scotland. After a year of fighting John Comyn was sent to Paris to prevent a peace treaty to end the war. A few years later Comyn died (1308) as a sergeant for 14th century Scotland.

John Comyn died from being murdered, since 1286 the threat of civil war between the houses of Bruce and Balliol had haunted and shaped Scottish politics. So Robert Bruce and his partners and associates killed Comyn and his Uncle because of their power in the civil war. This was a murder that had a huge turn in the Scottish civil war. Mostly because Comyn was one of the main leaders in then Scottish civil war and with his power over half of Scotland, Bruce was named leader of the civil war and now controlled the rest of the Comyn Clan. He brought torture on them and made them fight in the most dangerous battles then killed William Comyn. He killed William because he tried to runaway and form a Clan called the Comyn II but was found later on and was killed by Robert Bruce.

With my research on John Comyn I concluded that he was a very tough man. He liked to fight and solve his problems with violence. I also concluded that his family was not a typical loving family. With them it was all about power and whoever had the most power was the best one in the family. So without any second guesses I think that there was constant family in the Comyn family.

Casey at the Bat- Reflection

A real life situation was this summer in a basketball game. I was instructed by my coach to shoot a three at the 10 seconds mark. As I was looking at my coach on the bench. I wasn’t paying attention to the defender. A defender came by and stole the ball from behind me. All I could do was watch as he was speeding down the court towards the basket. He made his layup and the game was over. We had lost he game. I felt devastated knowing that my coach gave me a responsibility to win a game and we lost. I was sad and didn’t know how to apologize to my teammates I knew they were mad at me and I didn’t even know how to forgive myself.

Should we expect professional athletes to be role models or should we judge them by their athletic abilities?

Should we expect professional athletes to be role models or should we judge them by their athletic abilities?

I think we should expect professional athletes to be role models. When a child sees a professional athlete acting inappropriate I think that the athlete should be punished. I think this because kids might see that behavior and think it is okay but it is really not good behavior. SO yes I think we should judge the professional athlete as being a role model and if they are good at the sport they play it makes all the better.

In what settings can prejudice sometimes be found?

Article posted January 11, 2012 at 07:51 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 317

Prejudice can be found at school and even in your own neighborhood. People can have qualities of prejudice and treat you differently and unfairly because of the smallest things. You might wear glasses, you might not have a lot of friends. But prejudice can be found anywhere and it’s never going to go away. So there is no escaping it you can only face it and learn to deal with it.
