By Natalie

It all started when Mr. Schwan's class startes to talk about WEATHER! They continued talking about weather in September through October. Then the class started talking to the Amateur Radio Operators (A.R.O). The reason they were talking to the operators is because they were eventually going to put all there imformation together on Microsoft Excel on the computers at St. Michael and write a paragraph about it also.

The students and the A.R.O designated a whole class time to ask questions and talk to each other. One of the students, Natalie, copied down all the information every time perfectly. If there was an award for helpfulness in A.R.O those men and women should get one. Not only was for the kids' grade and learning, it was also for their enjoyment.

Good Bye and Hello

Article posted May 29, 2008 at 01:00 AM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 632

Hello, this is Autumn. This is my last blog I will be writing this year. Today at recess we had Sheren recess, that means that everyone was saying stuff like "Sheren I am so confused", or we called our game Sheren out of water, instead of fish out of water. And we made up a song that goes "Sh Sh Sh Sheren, Sh Sh Sh Sheren, Sh Sh Sh Sheren is so confused." So good bye I hate to go but I have to move on to 6th grade.

Hello to the new fifth grader taking my spot this year. You are up for a real treat in Mr. Schwan's class, good luck!

Subs

Mr. Schwan was in a conference in Minneapolis for a week and two days. So we had two subs for that week. Our first sub was Mrs. S. She let us play silent ball, and at the beginning of the day we played simon says. We only had her for one day. The rest of the week we had a girl in our classes' step sister, Mrs. W. She was really nice just like Mrs. S. Mrs. W read us a book that we have been reading a lot in class called "flush". One of the days we were in math and we had Mrs. S as a sub (not the same one as before), during the lesson the power went out, so instead of having computer that day we got to go outside. And that is what we did when Mr. Schwan was in a conference in Minneapolis.

Jonah

God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and make a speech because they were going against Him. But instead they ran away from the Lord and went on a trip to go to Tarshish. While he was on the way there he stopped in Joppa. When he was there he found a ship and paid to go on to get away from the Lord. Then the Lord sent a great storm to the sea. It was so bad that the ship almost broke into a million pieces. The sailors were scared, so they called out to their own gods. And they threw their cargo into the water. So Jonah went to the bottom of the ship and lay down. Then the captain came down too and said to him, "How could you lay down and relax during this storm? Go talk to your god and see if he will help us." But Jonah did not. So then all the sailors came together and said, "Who is responsible for this?” but Jonah said nothing. So they asked a lot of questions to see who it is, and it came down to Jonah as the suspect. So all the sailors asked him, "What did you do? Where are you from? What country are you from? From what religion are you?" Jonah answered, "I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land."
"What have you done?" The sailors knew he was running away from God. They asked him, "What do we do to calm the waves down?"
Jonah replied, "Throw me into the sea. That will make the waves calm." Instead they tried to row back to shore. As they were rowing they prayed to the Lord, "Please do not make us die for what this man has done!" But instead the Lord had a huge fish swallow Jonah, and he was in there for 3 days and 3 nights.

How to be a Girly Girl in Ten Days

Article posted May 1, 2008 at 01:00 AM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 65

By Autumn
In the book I just read it talks about a girl named Nickiolet, but everyone calls her Nick. She had long pretty brown hair, but one time when she got a haircut it got really short like a boy, so she looked a lot like her twin brother named Alex. And to make it worse she wore clothes like boys, like jerseys, jeans and t-shirts. The first year of middle school she met a boy named Ben, and she spilled food all over him by mistake, and she thought she kind of liked him. And her best friend Lynsany wore a lot costumes, funky clothes, and her hair in 2 buns. She liked someone but would not tell her who it is. So then Nick and Lynsany got makeovers. And Nick’s brother said he hated their new makeovers, and said that they should not have got them. If you want to hear the ending, read it for your self. I thought it was a good book that was funny, a mystery, and romantic. If you like those kind of books you should read it for yourself.

What I Like About 5th Grade

What I like about 5th grade is that we got to go to Universal after a band and choir competion and we got to go into Islands of Adventure. I rode a big roller coaster for the first time in my life, called "Dueling Dragons". IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! And that is what I like about 5th grade.
