Blogging Questions

Article posted March 4, 2008 at 09:12 PM GMT0 • comment (2) • Reads 793

1) What do you like about blogging?
I guess the only thing I like is making an avatar.

2) What don’t you like about blogging?
I don't like that the assignments are always so specific, because there isn't much freedom to show personality, or individuality.

3) If you had a choice, would you rather blog your thoughts or write your thoughts on paper?
I would rather write on paper, because on paper only the people I want to see what I wrote can see it. Not the whole world.

4) Have you visited our blog pages from home?
Yes, because I wanted to get ahead for the next lesson.

5) Do you visit other students blogs? Why do you visit them?
No I don't visit other bloggers, unless my teacher asks me to.

7) Have you gone back to edit a post after it has been published?
No, I haven't ever edited a previously posted article, because I am usually happy with what I have posted.

Togo...

Article posted February 19, 2008 at 09:24 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 298

In the serum run Togo and his team ran the longest distance in the 1925 relay of diphtheria antitoxin from Anchorage to Nome. He was the sled dog who led Leonhard Seppala and his dog sled team. He lived from 1913 to 1929, 16 years. He traveled 170 miles.

Balto led his team on the final leg of the 1925 serum run to Nome, in which diphtheria antitoxin was transported from Anchorage, Alaska to Nome. He lived from 1922 to 1933, 11 years. He traveled 53 miles. His musher was Gunnar Kaasen.

I don't think either dog was the main hero. I think every dog that ran in that race was an equal hero. They all took a part that was needed and even if others did other heroic things I don't think Togo or Balto are a greater hero. Every dog deserves the fame.

Balto...

Article posted January 29, 2008 at 09:09 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 179

A husky named Balto was in the lead of his team. His team was a sled dog team. His team had a very important mission. He had a hard job. He had to lead the dogs in his team to the town of Nome after the sled driver could no longer see past the storm. The town needed medicine and the only way to get it was through dog team. He was known around the world. A year after the run, in honor of the dog's heroic trek admirers placed a statue of Balto in New York City's Central Park. After Balto died in 1933, his body was preserved and displayed at Cleveland's Natural History Museum. In 1995 there was an animated movie about Balto made, adding to his fame. He was very special, and is still known well today.

1) In 1925, a diphtheria epidemic threatened the town of Nome.

2)The life saving serum was raced to Nome by dog sled.

3)Twenty teams relayed the medicine 674 miles.

4)The diphtheria epidemic threatened the Inuit children especially, who had no immunity to the "white man's disease,"

5)The nearest quantity of antitoxin was in Anchorage.

6)Since the two available planes were both dismantled and had never been flown in the winter the people had to send the dog teams to Anchorage to get the serum.

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race was known as the Great Race of Mercy

Think Before You Post...

Article posted January 15, 2008 at 09:20 PM GMT0 • comment (6) • Reads 181

In this video it has a girl in the same situation as Sara. She posted a photo, and everyone saw it. I dont think either video was stronger than the other I think they both showed the exact same thing just in slightly different ways.
I like the second video better than the first. I like it best because it seems like a more common situation. Having the whole school seeing photos of you may seem more embarassing to someone. I like it best because I think it really gets the point across to us students because it shows the girl trying to fix what she did and it shows how once you post it, it can't go away.
I doubt I'm going to change my posting habits because I only ever go on MSN and I am careful with what I say on it. Also I know all the people I talk to on it so I know that there aren't any strangers looking at my picture or reading my messages.

Hey Sara...

The video was about a girl who posted several articles and photos that many people saw. She gave away too much information about herself. The strangers that saw that information then asked her personal questions. My reaction to the video was that it is unsafe to give away any information about yourself over the internet because there are far too many people out there that are creeps. I felt that it was crazy how much she told and/or showed these people even though she doesn't know who is going to see it.

Christmas

Article posted December 7, 2007 at 07:01 PM GMT0 • comment (4) • Reads 128

1) To me, Christmas means, being happy. It means being a family. It means forgetting your differences, arguments, and just enjoying each others company.

2) Some of my favorite Christmas memories are on Christmas Eve. My father will put on a Santa suit and we all get to sit on his lap. Of course when I was younger I didn't know it was my father. I remember my family (my cousins, aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and grandparents) and I singing Christmas carols VERY loudly thinking that if 'Santa' heard us he would come.

3) My favorite Christmas song is Little Drummer Boy. I like it best because it is song that I hear every year and I enjoy the way it sounds. I think it is a pretty song.

These are the lyrics:

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.
