Forensic Science

Article posted September 26, 2012 at 05:58 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 210

The day started off with Mr Lewis and his assistant teaching us about forensic science. He told us that it is not at all like any of the crime shows like CSI,NCIS,Bones and so many more. He then showed us pictures of some prints he got from the forensic lab which showed us what prints really look like. Then he gave us a sheet and we had a partner to help we had to rub the led from a pencil on to our fingers put some sticky tape on the fingers and stick that on the paper. Then he helped us work out what type of print we have I had mostly loops.

5 facts I learnt
That over 50% of peoples prints are loops.
Only 5% have whorls.
Even twins have different finger prints.
They used ink but it was to messy and stained the polices uniforms.
Forensic science is a lot different in movies to what it really is.

Assembly

Article posted September 26, 2012 at 04:39 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 30

My role in the assembly was being an athlete I was a cheater and I pushed Ryan in the face then I fall over just on the line.

My lines are: In these ancient games at olympia. There was only one event a simple 180m sprint. As the years went on more events were added such as javelin shot-put and jumping just to mention a few. (The motto faster, higher, stronger was said to have started around about this time.)

The most nerve wrecking part for me was not actually part of the assemble it was when I did the merit certificates because of all the teachers writing and how hard it was to read on some of them also the pronunciation of both the students and all the teachers.

In term 1 it was our first Term in Mrs Taylor's class it was so much fun we learnt heaps of stuff that i didn't now about before like place value, improper fractions, decimals and my favourite of all of the stuff we learnt was a plants life cycle. For me it was my first year doing guitar. Also we went on our first excursion for the year with Mrs Lows and her class it was called sculptures by the sea i went last year with Mrs Low but it was just as fun this year. Also all the year 6s an 7s got to go to Cottesloe beach for our swimming lessons i passed so i am now a level11.We also had an incursion with an aboriginal lady she told us lots of dream time stories. This term i would like to learn how to do short division or long division i have no idea how to do them so i think it would be helpful to learn.

Children Should Not Be Allowed To Go On Excursions

Article posted November 23, 2011 at 02:43 AM GMT0 • comment (3) • Reads 147

I don't support this and neither should you.Would you like to be stuck in a stinky hot classroom? When you could be experiencing our history and nature first hand, get fit while you learn and have fun while you learn.

Firstly children can learn about our magnificent history see our astonishing nature first hand. It is better than seeing it second hand because you wouldn't get the same experience as seeing it yourself. Also when you get older you can say I went there with my school

Next you can get fit while you learn. instead of being sitting at a desk all day the kids get outside and get fit.At the same time you are learning it is good because you are seeing everything first hand.

Last but not least you can have fun while you learn which is very important because it keeps the kids interested. It is also good because it makes them want to come back and learn more.

On the Other hand someone could get seriously hurt. It would be bad because if the child hurt themselves it would be the teachers and the school in the firing line.If that happened it could cost the school hundreds and the teacher their job.

In conclusion I strongly disagree that children should not be allowed to go on excursions. I disagree because they let let you experience everything first hand, you get fit while you learn and you have fun while you learn. I hope you agree and I will see you on the next school excursion.

Autobiography of an old toy

Article posted November 23, 2011 at 12:59 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 127

“I have been in this box forever” I thought to myself . It was the Christmas of 2001 when finally I heard a rip from above me and a little ray of light shone down on me I could hear a young boys voice and then a hand popped through the cut and and grabbed the small box I was in. Then,Suddenly,I shot up through the box. For that short second I thought I might die! I was going so fast and then I just stopped it was so sudden I almost flew out of my box. The boy just stood there and stared at me.

I was a small action figure with a large, bobble head . I wore a gray bowler hat over my smooth golden hair I wore black shades over my crystal blue eyes . I also wore a gray suit with a maroon under shirt and a black tie . My shoes were black dress shoes I stood on a small round podium two cm tall and a bit wider than myself . It was yellow in colour and in bold black writing on the side it said Kingsley ‘Golden’ Fist. As he stared at me I looked around as far as I could see without moving my head. They were wealthy family a I hoped. Then after a little while I heard another voice. This time it was an older lady’s voice,”it must my owners mum”I thought,”why don’t you unwrap Tommy Sweetie” said Tom’s Mum. “Yes Mum” said Tom. He quickly put me down . “That must be my owners name” I whispered to myself.

A few days later Tom was going to his first day as a year 3. As he was packing he quickly snuck me into his backpack and shoved me right t the bottom. By the time I had reached the bottom my head was bobbing like crazy. It was so cramped in there that I thought my head would fall off. After a long bumpy and hot car trip, we finally got to Tom’s school. There was a small hole in Toms school bag, just big enough to see through. I saw that his school was Oberthur Primary School. It was a bit of a walk to Tom’s class which was Area 9. He hung his bag on a hook and walked inside. After a little while I got bored and started walking around. Suddenly I fell through a hole. It was lucky that my head was just too big to fit through. I then felt something grab me. It had sharp things all over it and a sinister grin on his face. Green dots covered his grey body in a sickly disgusting fashion. He kept tugging and tugging until finally the bell went and Tommy came out and gave him to his friend since it was his friends toy.

I am so excited. Tommy has just told me that I am going on a trip around Australia in a house boat. A day after he told me Tommy was packing his suitcase while I sat perked up on his pillow hoping that he would soon pick me up and put me in but he didn’t. I was sad for a moment and then I saw that he was planning to carry me instead of putting me in the suitcase. What a relief!

After about an hour of driving we got to the house boat. It was a large boat that was white in colour and in bold black writing on the side it said “HMAS Adventure”. It was fun going around Australia Favorite places were Tasmania Darwin and Sydney.

The most exciting thing I have ever done with Tommy was when we went to Adventure world. The best ride we went on was the tunnel of terror he snuck me on it was a two person ride so we went on with Tommy’s mum when we went in it was pitch black we started of slow but by the end we were flying.

After a few years Tommy got older and less interested in me. Finally he brought a new toy and packed me away he didn’t play with me ever again but it was good because I could relax for the rest of my days.
