4th and 5th Grade

Article posted June 3, 2010 at 02:55 AM GMT • comment • Reads 686

I think that I have improved on a lot of things over my fourth grade year. I really think that I have improved in math. I was taught my times tables up to my 12’s. Each timed test I took I got a little better score. I also learned about geometry, area, and perimeter. I plan on using these things in the future if I want to build my own basketball court!
I also think that I have gotten better at reading. I learned to comprehend books a lot better. Every time I did a book report I got a better grade. I want to get better at this when I enter 5th grade.
I want to learn about world history and about the world when I enter 5th grade. I want to learn about wars and the culture and traditions of foreign countries. Mexico seems really interesting. So does the United Emerites. My aunt lives there and she says it is really cool!!

Helping My Sister

Article posted May 13, 2010 at 04:22 PM GMT • comment • Reads 144

It all started when my sisters and I bought my mom the WII fit game for mother’s day.
As a family we were taking turns playing the WII fit. My little sister was super frustrated. She thought that I was being unfair. She kept crying. After she took a break in her room, she came out. I realized that she didn’t know how to play the game.
After my turn I decided how to show her how to play. I showed her how to place the balance board right, and how to stand on it. I also showed her how to stand on it. I then showed her how to move her weight to make the character move.
I helped her to play because she didn’t know how, and I had felt that way before. I felt sorry for her.
After I showed her how to do it right, she practiced a couple of times. I was glad because she started to get happy again. My mom was very proud of me because of what I had done. Gigi learned how to play and she stopped crying.

A Great Book

Article posted April 23, 2010 at 01:39 AM GMT • comment • Reads 175

I chose Leven Thumps and the Ruins of Alder by Obert Skye as a book I liked a lot. I used this book as a book report. This is the fifth and last book in the series. It was about a young boy named Leven Thumps. He goes on adventures to restore the order of things in Foo and Reality. Foo is the place where all dreams go. Reality is what is happening in the present moment. The order of things in both worlds got messed up when the Dearth was released from the soil. Dearth is evil, he constantly messes with the order of things in both Reality and Foo.

While reading this book I was constantly surprised by the events that were happening as they unfolded. The book is very adventurous. I especially enjoyed the few meetings Leven had with the Dearth. During the meetings there was a lot of anger because one was fighting for the good of the worlds and the other was just the opposite. I love to read about good and evil. This book constantly plays one against the other.
In this last book I enjoyed how the author described the events in detail, like how he described the settings of Foo and Reality. Foo was dark, the weather unpredictable, and was filled with strange creatures. Reality is just how the world seems right now. Reality has people and animals that are free and go about their daily lives as normal as possible.

When I picked up the first book in the series, Leven Thumps I never thought that I would be so interested in the fantasy world. I usually enjoy real stories about real people. I chose this book because it was the most entertaining. I only wish he would continue the series!

A Great Vacation

Article posted March 18, 2010 at 04:16 PM GMT • comment (4) • Reads 196

If I could go anywhere on a vacation, it would be from Los Angeles, California to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with my friend Moses and his family. I would want to go to L.A. because I would REALLY want to see the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are my favorite basketball team in the NBA. I also have never been to the big city part of Los Angeles. I would take an airplane down to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from L.A.
I want to go to Cabo because I have never been out of the country. I think it would be fun to go to Mexico because I love Mexican food. I LOVE tacos, burritos, and nachos. I could eat Mexican food for the rest of my life. I don’t speak Spanish but I really don’t care. I would go during spring break because that is when it is not 110 degrees for a low temperature. I would go swimming in the ocean a lot. That is where I would go for a vacation on spring break.

The Olymipics

Article posted February 26, 2010 at 05:00 PM GMT • comment • Reads 151

The motto for the Olympics is "Swifter, Higher, Stronger". I think this motto represents the idea that you should always try to get better at whatever it is you are doing.

The creed of the Olympics is not to win but to take part. I think this means that you should do your best, give 100%, and if you win that's good, but if you don't win, that's okay because you know you did the best you could. It also means that you should have good sportsmanship and enjoy the competition.

My favorite Olympic events are Downhill Skiing, Ski Cross, and Aerial Skiing.

My Many Occupations

Article posted January 27, 2010 at 02:49 AM GMT • comment • Reads 150

I hope I live a long time because I have many things I want to do in the future.
First, I want to be a NBA basketball player for the Suns, Lakers, Thunder and/or the Cavaliers. My friends Moses and Schuyler love to watch our favorite basketball teams on TV. My dad used to be a high school basketball team coach. He is my coach now. Sometimes on Saturdays we play basketball after Saturday morning Ballers practice. My dad always beats me but I am not that far behind. He can drain deep 3s. The skills I learn from my dad will definitely help me in the NBA. I also watch my favorite players which are : Magic Johnson, Steve Nash, LeBron James and Kevin Durant. I watch them on TV and then after the games, my friends and I go out to the backyard and pretend that we are the stars. The skills I learn from my dad, friends and TV will help me when I make it in the NBA!
After my career in the NBA, I want to be an entrepreneur for an ice cream, candy, and chocolate company like my dad is now. It looks like it would be a good after my basketball career. It looks really fun when I watch my dad help the customers, make the ice cream and count the money. I know it is hard work, but I like the idea of owning my own business. I would do many fundraisers, like my dad to help my community. I think I would do well at this business, because I have already invented my own type of ice cream and it sells really well. The name of my creation is “Cookie Monster” I made it up a really long time ago. I put vanilla ice cream, cookie dough, Oreo’s, and Reese’s peanut butter cups. Then mix it all together and sell, sell, sell!!

I plan on doing well in school and college so that I can do what I want when I grow up! Every day I seem to come up with more and more ideas. I do hope I can do it all.

The Time The Horse Sneezed On Me

Article posted January 14, 2010 at 01:21 AM GMT • comment (9) • Reads 306

One day my family and my Aunt Sheryl were going to a ranch where my aunt's friend lived. We were going to visit the friend's horses. I brought some carrots to feed to the animals we might encounter. When I got there, I could tell the horses could smell what I had brought. My sister had just fed one of the horses a carrot. I watched from a far and noticed that the horse Gigi was feeding, still looked hungry. I walked over and fed it a second carrot not noticing that the horse was still chewing another one tasty snack. Before I knew, the darn huge animal had sneezed on me! There was orange carrot and green horse snot all over my face!

Immediately my family looked my way, they cracked up and quickly brought me a towel to wipe off with. Everyone laughed about it including me!! It was soo gross there was nothing else to do but laugh!! That was the highlight of my day at the ranch.
