Our Butterfly Grows Up

When the butterflies first came to our classroom, they were caterpillars. They were fat ate all day long. Then they spun a chrysalis so that they could begin metamorphosis. It took a long time. Then they came out. It took 10 days to come out. On Wednesday we let them go. One butterfly went to a flower . Then the next one tried to fly, but it fell on the grass so we helped him onto a flower. Then the last two butterflies came out. It was a great day!

Some insects go through metamorphosis. That means that they can change their bodies as they grow. Did you now that you can tell the difference between a butterfly and a moth by looking at the antennas. A moth's antenna are feathery and a butterfly's antennae has a ball on the end. The body of a butterfly is skinny and a moth's body is fat. Moths have dark colors and a butterflies have bright colors. A butterfly goes from a egg to a larva to a pupa to an adult butterfly. Some insects lay eggs. Did you now that a cricket rubs its legs to make noise at night? Some butterflies can use camouflage to hide.

Did you know that a fish have a fin and gills? Did you know that all fish live and eat in the water and some fish lay eggs? Some fish have scales. Some are little and some are big. All fish have a backbone and a some fish are round. Some fish can camouflage in rocks and some attack people.

It was cool when we pretendid to be paleontolgists. Mrs.Santiago gave us chocolate chip cookies and 2 tooth picks. We scratched the cookie and I found 20 dinosaur eggs it was fun. Then when I had like 10 eggs. Mrs.Santiago gave us 1 more chocolate chip cookie to eat. It was hard work and I was sweaty. Then I dug out 10 more eggs. Fossils are formed when a animal or a plant dies and rots away and gets covered with mud and sand. Millions of years pass by and it gets discovered.The fossils then go to a museum.

I know that the 3 horn eats plants and leaves. I know that a Spinosaurus can beat up the Tyrannosaurus Rex. I know that the Pteranodon can fly high. I want to know which dinosaur is the biggest meat-eating dinosaur to live. I want to now how many eggs does a dinosaur lay. I want to know if a dinosaur hunts by himself or in a group.

If I could go to Europe I could go to Italy to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Coliseum. I would like to backpack through Europe because it will be so much fun.I could see where the gladiators used to fight. I like Europe so much that I want to visit every place in Europe and ride in the underwater Channel Tunnel to France.

If I had 100 dollars I would save it because I could save hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Then I would share all of my money with the poor people who have no shoes, no food and no home. I will buy new shoes, food and a new home for them to live in. Then when I don't have any more money I will save even more money, but this time I will spend my money on a new car, a new bedroom and a new computer for me.

I would like to be an astronaut because I could go to the moon. I could see earth from outer space and see things that nobody has ever seen before. I could have fun with no gravity and drive the spaceship. I could see aliens and and when I go back to earth I could get a trophy. I could fix satellites so they could work. It would be fun but, it will be hard too. It would be hard to sleep in a bed, throw away trash, drink water and eat food.

Saving the rainforest is important because the animals will die and become extinct if we take away their homes. We will die too. If the rainforests are destroyed we will die because air comes from trees. We would not have mangos and other fruits to eat that come from the rainforest. Without medicine from the rainforest people could get sick and die. With no trees the soil will move and the land could become a desert. Chocolate and medicine comes from rainforest trees. People have to stop cutting down trees. You can build houses with other things, so you do not have to cut down so many trees. The Yanomamo people need the rainforest. It is their home.
