Literature Circles

Article posted May 10, 2013 at 04:46 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 31

For literature circles we have groups that all have 3-5 people. I like this! I find it really cool that we can talk to people about what we just read and the people would know what we are talking about. It is also pretty awesome that we can showcase what we have all been working on for the past week.

I'm reading "The Face On The Milk Carton". I find this book cool because it can be serious but it also can be funny. The characters in the book seem amazing it would be interesting to meet someone like them.

I'd totally recommend this book to a friend! This author did a really good job. At the beginning of this book I thought the girl was crazy. In the middle of the book I thought that she was on to something. By the end I thought I knew what was going to happen but, it turns out I was wrong!

I liked how this assignment was marked. I knew what I was aiming for and that gave me a good idea on how to use my time. I am going for an A+.
I am really close all I need is my last self evaluation sheet.

The Canadian government wanted to sign treaties because the wanted more land, peaceful coexistence with each other, settlement, future industrial development, railways, and farming.

The Aboriginal people wanted to sign treaties because they wanted peace,an education for their children, and they wanted to keep their culture.

While signing treaties people smoked the pipe. The pipe represented peace that is probably why they called it a peace pipe.

The Fist Nations needed buffalo to survive, but there wasn't a lot left so they needed new stuff to survive.

The Canadians have benefited greatly from treaties. They wouldn't have any land if it weren't for the treaties. They wouldn't have any railways or any farmland. Treaties were very important.

The First Nations thought of a treaty as a promise that will never be broken. They thought the treaties would last as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the river flows.

The four First Nations that agreed to make Saskatchewen what is today by signing a treaty are Cree, Saulteaux,Nakota, and Dene.

Why Is This A Word Anyways!

Article posted March 7, 2013 at 03:32 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 37

Today I watched a video called " Spread The Word To End The Word." The message of this sad video was that many people are offended by this word whether they have this disability or not. This word is " retarded." When some people heard this word they either cried or came close to crying because this word hurts feelings a lot. It's like using the "N" word or using the "F" word for homosexuals. There is only two types of people in the world ones who say it not realizing what they're saying and those who gasp in shock when hearing it and tell the person what the word actually means. I've never been either of those people I would listen to the word no problem but never say the word. We should find a new word to use like rad, responsible, respectful, or reliable. Whenever you think oh well that was R just think of those three words: responsible, respectful, reliable. This word has to be stopped. This cause is very important and I believe it will change the world as we know it. You can help to by pledging, and spreading the word whether it's online or in public. At least stop saying that word

Double Identity Review

Article posted February 27, 2013 at 03:42 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 40

Hi! I'm here to tell you about this wonderful novel called "Double Identity" by Margerat Peterson Haddix. This amazing novel is about a young girl named Bethany Krull who gets suddenly dropped off at her Aunt Myrlie's house, who she hasn't even heard of. As she keeps hearing about my favourite character, Elizabeth she gets suspicious. Until she found out that Elizabeth has her long dead sister and looked just like her. It's almost like she was an exact copy of her. When Bethany meets Joss, her cousin she learns even more about Elizabeth. When Bethany gets gets 4 birth certificates and 10 000 dollars in the mail she is determined to find out the secret her parents have been keeping from her forever ( Suspense Alert!!!)

When I was listening to this book. I couldn't really relate to any of these characters a lot. However when Bethany goes swimming at the YMCA I thought hey I do that to. Bethany also never had a babysitter because her parents weren't big on them and my parents never got me a babysitter either for the same reason. I guess I can relate to Bethany

This book was exciting but i was a bit disappointed with the ending. My favourite parts were whenever Bethany's mom called it made me feel like I was closer to the answer to the mystery. I loved this book! I give this book 3.5 stars.

I loved this book so much that I would recommend it to anyone. Yet I think this book is more for science people or mystery people. I bet you haven't read this book, well It's your loss!

Fun Theory

Today I watched Volkswagon's Fun Theory videos. These videos are about inventions made to change peoples behavior with fun. I think this idea is awesome. My favourite idea was the world's deepest trash can. The world's deepest trash makes a falling noise and a crash at the bottom. I think that these ideas work because let's just face it everyone likes fun. I would make a toilet that is connected to your Ipod and when you flush it the toilet plays a song. This idea would stop people from leaving their waste in the the toilet for the next person that comes.

Say No To Animal Testing

Article posted October 24, 2012 at 05:06 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 63

Do your Products say that they are not tested on animals. Mine sure do. I use Bath and Body Works, Paul Mitchell, MAC, and Hard Candy cosmetics. Those products don't do animal testing. I hate animal testing so much it just gets me so sad that someone want to hurt innocent animals because they are just like us they have a personality and they certainly feel pain just like us. How would you like it if a bigger and more intelligent species tested their shampoo's, makeup, deodorant, fabrics, cleaning chemicals, and lotions. I believe that testing medicines that will save more humans lives than take animals lives is okay, but luxuries like makeup is just sick and twisted. Say no to animal testing.

Chocolate River Rescue River

Mrs.Mckay read us Chocolate River Rescue. The book was about three boys who got stuck on an ice flow on the Petit Kodiak River. Then a girl named Petra and a dog named Hobart tried to save them but they are unsuccessful so now they are all stranded on the river. Finally the helicopters come and save them and they live happily ever after. The ending was funny and I knew there was going to be a Chocolate River pun. If were the author I would change a single thing. Overall this novel was awesome and intriguing but I wouldn't recommend this to a friend because it took me a while to get hooked.
