Suessical

Article posted May 2, 2012 at 04:15 PM GMT • comment • Reads 242

On April 4th our class went to Suessical. “Do it with class” put together the play. We went to the Conexus Arts Center. The basic theme of the play was Horton carrying a dust speck and everyone making fun of him.

Cat in the hat was the narrator. A guy named Horton was carrying around a dust speck. Everyone was laughing at him. I didn’t like the script and I thought it was boring because I don’t like it when they are singing most of the time.

I think the characters were mostly believable. The only thing I thought that wasn’t believable was that they’re not animals in the script and in the books they are animals. At a point the voices were a little unclear.

I think it was the right mood and time for the set. I think the lighting was not bright enough. The mood and the emphasis for the lighting were pretty good. I don’t think the monkeys were not wearing monkey costumes and the elephant wasn’t wearing an elephant costume.

I think the audience was really attentive and interested. I did not like the play because I don’t like it when they’re singing the whole time. It was a fun day.

The R Word

Article posted March 1, 2012 at 03:32 PM GMT • comment • Reads 81

When you have finished reading the information and watching the video, please go to your blog and tell me a little about what you learned today. I learned that the r word is rude to say and offensive to other people.
Do you think that this has changed how you will speak/act on a daily basis? I don't think it will change the way I talk because I do not use that word.
Do you think that this is an important movement? I think it is if people are calling other people that word. Why or why not? What do you think you/our class could do to be a part of this movement in our school? Please explain in detail. Our class could stop using the r word. Also if we hear someone else we can tell the to not use that word.

Purple Lip

On the week off I got a fat lip and it turned purple. I got it playing hockey on a driveway with some friends. I got a follow through stick to the mouth and it was really fat. It was gushing blood. It was a painful moment.

Animal Testing

Article posted February 9, 2012 at 04:04 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 84

I think it is okay to test products on animals.

I think it is okay because people could die. Also because there are more animals then humans and if they just give it to people then people can get extinct. There would be no more people on the earth

Remember people could go extinct so I think it is okay.

Do not trash stuff as much.

I can reuse, recycle, reduce.

I can walk to school instead of driving.

Don't use as much power and electricity.

I can use less water.

Wild Life

Which channel did you think was the most interesting?
I think the most interesting channel were the penguins. I think the penguins were in a zoo.
Did you see anything that was interesting or surprising?
It was interesting seeing the penguins because I never saw penguins live I only saw them in movies.
Why do you think they have chosen to document nature in this way?
I think they do this so people can learn and study animals and it is interesting.
What benefits do you think this type of observation gives? I think the benefits are that you get to see how the animals live in their habitat and sleep in their habitat.
What do you think they are trying to learn more about? I think they are trying to learn more about the animals and what they do, also to learn
about the animals habitat.
If you could set up a live feed anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would set up a live feed in a cows habitat because it would be cool to see how the cows get milked and what they do all day.

1) Based on the first few chapters, do you think you will like this book? Explain why or why not.
I think I will like this book because it seems interesting and he is going on adventures. It is exciting.

2. Describe how you might feel if you were in a similar situation to Brian. What do you think you would have done the same? What do you think you would have done differently?
I would feel scared because I might die. I would have tried to fly the plain and land on water but I would have set up a help sign or something like that instead of just laying on the beach.

3. Make some predictions about what will happen in upcoming chapters. Explain why you have made these specific predictions.
I think that Brian will see something in the sky and it is a helicopter and it comes to pick him up. I made that prediction because other people might have heard about the crash.

4. What do you notice about Gary Paulsen's writing style? Do you like his writing so far? What would you ask him if you had the opportunity to interview him.

Last Sunday our family went to Saskatoon because I had a tryout with the Saskatoon team because they play at a higher level than my usual AAA team. Before I had my tryout we went to Fudruckers for lunch. My tryout started at 4 and ended at 5:15. We went shopping after so we got home around 9:30. That was really FUN!
