Life is Beautiful

I really like this movie. I thought it was very clever how Roberto Begnini(?) made it a tragic comedy. This way, it touched the tragedy of the Holocaust, but it was also funny. Although I liked the movie, I thought that sometimes it wasn't very realistic, like when Guido and Giosue were running around the camp, and then Guido spoke into the loudspeaker. If this was in a real concentration camp, Guido would definitely have been shot mercilessly. I also don't think that Giosue would have survived as long as he did if it were a real concentration camp. It would not have been possible to hide for that long from the soldiers. All in all though, I enjoyed Life is Beautiful, mostly because I could learn about the Holocaust and laugh at the same time - which, let me tell you, won't happen too often.

11. The climax of the novel was the fight between the newborn vampires and Cullen's + the werewolves.

12. The major conflict was solved by the Cullen's and the werewolves defeating Victoria and her army of newborn vampires. The minor conflict was the where Bella had to choose between Jacob and Edward, and she solved it by choosing Edward.

13. The major thing that helped resolve the plot was that the Cullen's and the werewolves decided to work together to defeat the newborn army of vampires. Since vampires and werewolves are enemies, this was a big deal.

14. The message that I got from this novel was that decision making is tough. That would seem like a no-brainer, but if you really look at the things Bella has to go through, you will see how difficult it is to make some decisions. This message was conveyed by the difficulty Bella had in choosing between Jacob and Edward.

15. The novel totally met my expectations because it was as well-written as the other two in the series before it. The novel was thrilling, and never lost my interest once. I felt like this book lived up to my expectations (which were formed by the other two before it). All in all, I loved this book.

16. The title, Eclipse, connected with the book when Bella and Jacob were talking after he got hurt in the battle. Bella thinks or Jacob as her sun, and Edward as her drug. Jacob's exact words were: "The clouds I can handle. But I can't fight with an eclipse." Jacob is referring to Edward as the Eclipse, as he is the sun.

In these last 69 pages of the book, Bella and Edward realize that Jacob got hurt. Then, Bella sees that there are 8 vampires in the clearing, not seven. There was a girl named Bree who had surrendered to Carlisle. But then, Jane (a member of the Volturi) came and destroyed her. All Bella wants to do is go see Jacob and make sure that he is okay, because she realizes that she is IN love with Jacob, just she loves Edward more. She goes to Jacob's house, and they start talking. Jacob wants to know if Edward got mad at Bella for kissing Jacob, and Bella told Jacob that, no, Edward didn't get angry. In fact, she told Jacob that Edward was too nice. This talk is really hard for her. Jacob accepts that he and Bella are going to be, and Bella needs Edward. When Bella gets home she cries. She cries out that part of her that loves Jacob. Edward is there with her the whole time, and tries to comfort her. But Bella can't be comforted. The next morning, Bella and Edward go to Alice, who is making plans for the wedding. Bella's wedding dress is so beautiful, and also a little bit old fashioned, but that is great for Edward, because he is old fashioned as well. The epilogue of the book is in Jacob's point of view. Jacob is really angry, but also really sad. When he gets a wedding invitation with a personal note from Edward, he is so upset he almost breaks the table. Then, he needs to be alone, so he phases into his wolf form, and runs.

Now Bella and Edward are in the tent, and Bella is FREEZING cold. Edward is afraid to go too close to her because he will only make her colder. Jacob is outside, but then since Bella is so cold and Jacob is always really warm (around 110 degrees) he comes to warm Bella up. Jacob and Edward get into a fight because Jacob is so close to Edward's girlfriend, but then they just talk because they made a temporary truce. When Jacob overheard Bella and Edward talking about their marriage, Jacob was in agony. He was going to kill himself, but then Bella asked him to kiss her, so that won't kill himself. Then, the battle starts, and Bella and Edward are inside the tent. Then, Victoria arrives. She is with a newborn vampire named Riley. But then, Seth (a werewolf) come out of nowhere and kills Riley. So it is just Edward, Bella, and Victoria. Edward kills Victoria, and the battle is over.

In these 70 pages, EDward agrees not fight in the battle and stay with Bella. Bella agrees to marry Edward, and let Alice do the wedding.

These 70 pages made me feel really happy for Bella and Edward, because they are goignt o get married. The marriage will happen in the summer, which is a just a month away. Bella was really reluctant to get married, because her parents got married really early and then they divorced, and especially because her mother told Bella so many times that responsible people only get married when they are mature adults. The ring Edward gives her is the ring Edward's father gave to his mother, and it had a narrow gold band and many diamonds with gold webbed aroung them. Then, when Edward and Bella are in the woods making a scent for the army of vampires to follow, they meet up with Jacob and they (Bella and Jacob) are going to meet up with Edward later. When they met up with Edward, they all entered the tent.

Last Day of March Break!!

Article posted March 16, 2008 at 06:39 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 209

Today, Sunday the 16th of March, is the last day of March Break. I am so not looking forward to going to school tomorrow, especially because I can't sleep in, and also because I have go to school and do WORK. My March Break has been awesome though, because I've gone snowboarding twice, had lots of good times with my friends, and also been to a sleepover with a friend. On my other blog, I said that March Break came too soon, but now I disagree with that. I think March Break ENDED too soon! Oh well, at least this weekend is the four day long Easter weekend!

High School

Article posted March 16, 2008 at 06:27 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 292

By now, everyone in our grade has probably the decision on where they are going to for high school next year. It was a very tough decision, to say the least. Like most of the students at Deer Park, I had to make a choice between Northern and North Toronto, and I chose Northern. But then, I tried out for the IB (International Baccalaureate) program at Victoria Park High School, and I got in. Most would say that that was a good thing, but I disagree. It just made my decision a whole lot more difficult. So then, I had to choose between Victoria Park and Northern, and after a lot of consideration I chose Victoria Park. Sometimes I regret my decision, because I wanted to be with my friends at Northern, but then I figured out that the IB program would be better for me in the long run.

Costa Rica

On Winter Break, I went to Costa Rica with my parents (just my parents and I because I don't have any siblings), and I had a GREAT time. I was on the beach for a few days, went into many rainforests, and saw tons of exotic animals. My favourite were the monkeys because they were so cute. Unfortunately, I did not get to see turtles because it was not the season for turtle watching. I also made many friends, from all around the world! I made friends that live in Belgium, Mexico City and Seattle. Costa Rica is a beautiful place and I would advise everyone to go there at some time or another.

March Break

This week is March Break, an time where students get to unwing and relax for a whole week. I love March Break and missing school, but this year it just felt that it came too early. It might be due to the fact that we have had so many PA Days and holidays this year already. To add to the fun, the week after March Break there is the Easter weekend, which is a four day weekend. Don;t get me wrong, I REALLY enjoy breaks and days off from school, but maybe the school board should spread them out a little bit more.

Snowboarding

Yesterday being the first official day of March break, my family and I decided to take advantage of it by going skiing/snowboarding. I snowboard, and even though I am still not exceptional at it, I believe I got a lot better yesterday. I managed to snowboard down a black diamond hill, which I haven't done since I was on skis 3 or 4 years ago. I was really proud of myself. Also, yesterday I learned how to do an ollie on my snowboard. It might not seem like much, but I found it quite difficult and was happy when I finally did one. This being saud, yesterday when I came home in the evening I was really tired, and sore all over. Oh well, I guess every good thing has a bad side to it!
