International Towne

Article posted May 22, 2012 at 01:56 AM GMT • comment • Reads 579

I think the International Towne experience was like young Amire Towne in the way it was run and the set up. I learned about global trade and currency exchange and how different products in the world affect other things all over the world. Products from China or Japan could affect the United States. By producing them in China it could lower production costs, because instead of having to pay minimum wage in the United States, they could pay lower wages in China. Different currencies are strong in certain countries and weak in others. For example the U. S. dollar is stronger in Mexico and some other countries, but is weak in China and Japan.
I think the best part was going there and doing my job and selling flowers and beach balls and ending up in the black. There is nothing that I would like to change because it is a very well-thought out program that is very thorough in teaching global economics.

THE END

Article posted May 19, 2012 at 03:40 PM GMT • comment • Reads 445

I think 7th grade was great, at least for me. 7th grade went by very fast and was very fun. For me most of the year was successful. Except for the third quarter that didn't go too well. I learned that you should do home work the day you get it instead of doing it on the next day like I did in the 3rd quarter. Another thing I learned was not to wait so long to work on projects and big assignments. I also learned about global economics and currency exchange from going to International Towne. International Towne was also really fun and worth all the work that we had to do. In science I personally learned that frogs smell bad and are hard to cut with scissors.
If I could change something I would have turned in all of my assignments when they were due and not wait until the last minute when they were due. That is one thing I learned the hard way, because my third quarter grades were not what I wanted them to be. If I could change anything else, I would want more field trips. I would also assign less math homework.
For all the sixth graders going into seventh grade, don't let the block schedule rule you, rule the block schedule. Do this by doing homework the day you get it, not the day before it is due. This lets you get it done and gives you extra time in case something comes up.

world history Fair

I learned many things about the Roman Legions. My guiding question was how did the Roman Legions affect the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. I chose this topic because it covered the start and end of in my opinion, one of the greatest empires in history. I found out that their most important role was a military role. The Legions were a key to expanding the Empire. Without their military force it would not have been possible. As they grew, they were able to defeat and conquer bigger nations and expand into a bigger and stronger empire
I learned a lot from walking around the gym. I learned things like Genghis Khan to Julius ceasur. there were a lot of cool displays like a stone hedge and huge catapult like things. there were also smaller catapults that launched paper. I found out a lot also like things about gladiators and other stuff.

Seed Folks

Article posted May 3, 2012 at 02:12 AM GMT • comment • Reads 501

Right now I have not read much of Seed Folks. The format is kind of weird because it all ties in to the other stories but, it leaves you hanging because it only tells so much about one person. My favorite character so far is the old lady. I like the old lady because she seems knowledgeable and she did something bad by digging up the cucumbers so she plants something herself. I think the big idea is that a community can turn a rundown scrap yard into a garden. Or that as a community you can accomplish anything. My favorite activity is the flower making in Mr. Howard's class. I think the rock painting was also fun.

My final project is coming along great. I am done with most of the things. I am still working on my museum display. I am making a body length shield and I need to finish painting the design. I am done with the trifold display. I am almost ready to turn them in! Making the shield was my favorite part of this project.

Spring Choice

Article posted April 14, 2012 at 12:58 AM GMT • comment • Reads 637

There are only about 30 days left of the school year. Yeah!! I can hardly wait for the end of the school year. I am looking forward to summer break and the things I will do during summer break. I am looking forward to summer camp, no school, spending time with my family and friends and other stuff. Every year I go to summer camp with my boy scout troop. It is very very fun because of the activities and the time I get to spend with my friends. My favorite activities are shot gunning, rifle shooting, and swimming. I also like going to Breckenridge for the fourth of July. It is fun and I get to spend time with my family when I go. Last year my friend was there with his family too. We happened to stay at the same lodge and got to hang out. Breckenridge also has fantabulous fireworks for the fourth of July.
I also like being able to sleep in and not having to worry about going to school or doing homework. Now that I know there are only about 30 days left I am counting down until there is no more school!

Chicken Wings

Article posted April 8, 2012 at 12:43 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 678

We dissected a chicken wing in science before spring break because we would get to see the muscles and tendons in a real thing that was once living. I also think that we dissected the chicken wing so we could get to see the tendons and muscles of the inside of an animal. I think that it was worth while because now I know what the muscles and tendons of a chicken look like. I learned what the tendons and muscles look like and I also learned that if you pull on certain muscles that different parts of the chicken wing will move. Moving the different muscles was fun because other parts would move and it was kind of weird but also interesting.
There were certain things that I did not like about the dissection. I did not like pulling the skin off because it was difficult to pull it off. We did not have any sharp objects so we had to use our hand and blunt little poking objects to get the skin off. I also did not like the worksheet that we had to do. It asked questions about what was inside the chicken wing and what they looked like. I thought it was boring and long and time consuming.

earnest green story

Article posted March 18, 2012 at 10:44 PM GMT • comment • Reads 620

After seeing the The Ernest Green Story and video clip of Minnie Jean Brown, I think that if you put your mind to something you can accomplish it if you try hard enough. The reason I say this is because every one of the Little Rock Nine, except for one, graduated from Central High School even though they were bullied, picked on and threatened in and outside of school. Each day was a struggle for each one of the Little Rock Nine because of the hatred and violence they had to deal with. If I were in their position, I would have done what they did and tried my hardest to graduate from Central High. One difference is I think I would have fought back because of the constant bullying upon The Little Rock Nine. I would have gotten fed up with it and fought back. Things have changed. Now, anybody can go to the school of their choice unless you have to apply and get accepted into the school. I hear about different kinds of discrimination in the news but I don't see it in my everyday life. I think that the suffering that the Little Rock Nine went through was very brave and courageous of them. I am grateful to the students that had to go through that because what they did helped form a better and more perfect nation.
