The Meaning

Article posted May 18, 2010 at 12:43 AM GMT • comment • Reads 618

The quote that was on the key meant a few things to me. One of them was that just because you can do whatever you want doesn’t mean that you should do whatever you want, but that you should try and do something that respects other people and makes the freedom of others better. It also means that you should try whenever you can to make other people’s lives better and to respect their wishes. Both the key and the quote together mean that the key to freedom isn’t just being free, but that it’s also to free other people as well.

FUN!!

Article posted May 18, 2010 at 12:12 AM GMT • comment • Reads 112

I think that International Towne was one of the best field trips I have ever been on. I had so much fun. I learned how to say hi and thank you in 15 different languages and I learned about different cultures around the world. I would change how much we had the rings cost in Israel from the beginning to increase the profit for the country. I would also change how many countries I bought stuff at so that I could learn more about the different cultures. The best part was when I was on break because I got to walk around and see all the funny hats that everyone had to wear and because that was the time that I got to see my friends and learn more about the variety of countries at ITowne.

Pegasus

Article posted May 8, 2010 at 02:59 AM GMT • comment • Reads 84

I think that Ally knows a few myths, but not a ton. My favorite myth is the Greek Pegasus. Pegasus lived on Mount Helicon, when a Greek hero whose name is Bellerophon believed that he could fly with Pegasus to Olympus, which is where the gods live. Zues didn’t want him to do this, so he sent a horsefly to bite Pegasus. Bellerophon lost control of Pegasus and fell back to Earth. Pegasus didn’t stop flying and reached Olympus, where Zues received him. Ever since then, Pegasus has transported thunderbolts for Zues, who placed his figure in the constellation of the winged horse in the night sky.
I think that Ally might like the Maori: Rangi one. Jack might like Norse: Tyr myth. The Greek: Cepheus myth would be the one that I think Bree would like the most.

I did my persuasive speech on having yoga balls as seats in classrooms. I would like to know about my tone and speed in which I talk.

Maybe

Article posted April 15, 2010 at 03:07 AM GMT • comment • Reads 354

I think that there might be a few things in life that is worth pursuing ‘by any means necessary,’ but not a lot. Some of those things would be complete freedom and protecting loved and extremely loved ones. Part of the complete freedom would be like what the armies in Afghanistan and other places are doing for our country and other countries. If you had a loved one like a brother/sister or anyone else that you love like family that you would probably jump in front a bullet to save, then you might do anything you can to save that person.

What do government, love and sweaters have in common?

Article posted April 12, 2010 at 02:47 AM GMT • comment • Reads 101

I didn’t know what government, love, and sweaters had in common, so I asked my brothers.
One said,”A government official looked outside and saw that it was bad weather.
So he went to his closet and grabbed his favorite sweater.”
I noticed that there wasn’t love in it, so I went to the next one, and he said
“The government that we all love has to wear the same sweaters.”
I still didn’t think that would work and so I wrote some letters.
Even though I didn’t get replies, I still had an idea.
“I love the cold weather.
Cause then I can wear my favorite sweater.
Other people don’t like it,
But it keeps me from getting frost bit.

I wear my favorite sweater,
So I don’t get lost forever.
Some people really don’t like it,
So they went to the government.

As I walked through the doors
Of the government building,
I thought of my favorite sweater,
That saves me from the weather.

I had to write a letter,
About why I love my sweater.
I like my favorite sweater
Cause it keeps me safe form the weather,
I will keep it forever,

If the government says “Good-bye” to my sweater,
I will hold on to it forever.
Cause I love my favorite sweater.”

Fun Chickens

Article posted April 3, 2010 at 01:37 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 294

We had to dissect a chicken wing so that we could study the muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments for science. I thought it was pretty cool and FUN!!! I think that it was worth while because we got to learn about the bone and muscle systems. I learned that if u pull on just a tiny little muscle, the entire wing could move. I never got to dissect a frog. SAD!!!!

Cutting Down

Article posted March 12, 2010 at 10:59 PM GMT • comment • Reads 112

There are many ways that I change the earth, but there are a few that have a major impact on the environment that we live in now. One of the impacts that I have is how much me and my family drive, which is bad. Another way that I change the earth is the cut down of trash and plastics that me and my family have been working on.
Each of my brothers have at least 5 activities a week, while I have about the same. My parents also both have to drive to work/college, so we use the car a ton. Something that I have been working on doing is trying to use the car less than normal. That would lessen the amount of pollution that my family gives off a little bit.
I live in a very sporty family, so we drink from a ton of plastic sport drink bottles. Something that me and my family do is reuse the bottles for a few games, and then we would start bringing that bottle to school or my brother would create something with them, so that this way, there is a little bit less plastic in the landfills. Lately, we have been spending less money on the drinks, and we are saving the earth by using those bottles for even more games/time.
My family has also done a few other things. One is lessen the time we spend in the shower, so we don’t waste as much water or use a lot of electricity to heat the water up. Also, we have switched a few of our lights to the economic safe light bulbs.
The earth is changing, and humans are speeding that process up in a bad way. My family and I are reducing what we can to help our home, because we decided to do what we can and be the change. Even though we use our cars a lot, we have reduced our use of them, and we have also slowed down our plastic waste.

A Math Lesson

Article posted February 24, 2010 at 12:58 AM GMT • comment • Reads 187

Every opportunity that kids get they are playing on me. It gets so annoying!! But, I never see them open that weird book that they always bring with them when they come home with bags. They make such an effort to bring that heavy thing with them and then bring it back with them, but yet they never touch it. So I am going to find a way to get it close enough to me so that I can talk to it. I really need a vacation, and yet, that book always gets one, but it doesn’t do anything at anytime of the day. I just don’t know what to call it. I heard the kids ask “Why do you bring that math book home, we never use it?” So I think that its name is math book. So I guess that that answers that question, but I still don’t know what or how to ask. What would a video game like me ask a math book like it? I want to know how it gets a break, but how do I do that. Maybe I could just ask a straight to the point question like “How do you do get a break all of the time?” or maybe “How do you disgust the kids?” Or, ooorrrr, I could ask it about itself and maybe see if it tells me something that I could use. That could work. But first, I need to find a way for it to get close enough for me to talk to it. Though, lately, they have been dropping their backpacks closer and closer to me, so I should be able to ask it in a few days. I think I can last that long. I will not end up in the trash like my predecessor did.
And, finally, the day came. Apparently, the boys got in a fight at school, so they got grounded from me. YES!! To add to that yes, they put the math book right next to me!! I think that I will ask it about itself at first just to find out about it, and then if it doesn’t tell me, then ask it a direct question. That sounds like a great idea. So, here I go.
“Hi, I am X-Box. What is your name?”
“Oh, hi. I am Math Textbook.”
“Can you tell me about yourself?” I asked at the same time he asked “How do you do it?”
And then we really started talking. I mean, there wasn’t a second without one of us talking. And I found out a ton about her. Like, she teaches kids things about math, that’s why they don’t like her, and that she really wants the kids to look at her so that she can do their job. We thought about a way so that we can both do what we want. For me, a major vacation, and for her, a job. But, it would never work. I mean, it would if they were monkeys or not smart, but that, wait, no, one of those apply to the kids, but not to the extent that we need it to. So, I guess I am stuck without a vacation, and she gets stuck as unloved. But I learned something. That I can ask guys (I didn’t know that Math Textbook was a guy till today) questions without freaking out!!

Ripple Effect

Article posted February 18, 2010 at 01:52 AM GMT • comment • Reads 170

Ripple Effect By: Paul McCusker
This book was amazing!! It is a thrilling mystery, and I read it extremely fast because I just had to know the end. The two main characters go through a rough time throughout the book, but they were able to overcome it. Elizabeth, or Sarah (or whatever you want to call her), was taking a bath, or getting strangled, when, to everyone else around her (them) saw her (them) disappear. For both of them, their lives were completely changed. One got out of danger, but the other one was put into an extremely terrible situation, possibly deadly. Everyone is in a fight to find their ways home.I really liked this book because there was always action. I was never bored, and I just couldn’t put the book down! I think that someone else would like this book because it gives and interesting twist compared to other books. Also, it foreshadows a ton.
