 11-2 R.A.F.T. A-Myself F-Diary entry T-What led the colonies to rebel against Great Britain? Dear Diary, Today the Stamp Act was repealed! I am so happy, I was getting really tired of paying that stupid tax. If you don’t know what the Stamp Act is it’s a tax that Great Britain put upon us colonists. It is a tax on everything printed, from the newspaper to playing cards. You have to have a stamp on things printed so that everyone knows that you payed the tax. I cannot express my glee and happiness! 1 years later Dear Diary, My joyful streak has come to an end. There is now another tax it is called the Townshend Acts. It is another tax! It’s where you have to pay a tax on tea, paper, glass, lead, and paint imported from Britain. I’m so angry I think I will go join a group called The Sons of LIberty. Us colonists are holding a town meeting tonight to protest the unfair taxes the Britain had put upon us. They think that the taxes will help pay for the French and Indian War, but it won’t cause us colonists are gonna Boycott all the things that have unfair taxes on them! Even my wife is gonna help our protest out, she is gonna join a group called the Daughters of Liberty. She is excited to join one of the “Spinning Bees” it’s where the women spin thread to make clothing so that we don’t have to imports cloth from Britain. My wife always listens to Mercy Otis Warren she is her “role model” and she said to give up things that had unfair taxes. A Couple Months Later Dear Diary, Today we are planning to go on some of the ships that are importing tea, we will dump all the tea into Boston harbor. We will be dressed as Mohawks, a Indian tribe, so that we will not be identified as colonists. The reason that we will dump the tea into the harbor is because much us (Colonists) are tried of the tax on tea, so we are doing something about it. I bet the British will be so mad! 1 Week Later Dear Diary, Today the King George the third has made something called the Intolerable Acts. He made this act because he was Very angry at us. I am angry at him I know that he has a mental illness but still that is not cool at all. We are thinking to rebel.
