This week was lovely as we had two educationalists visit us.
Bruce Hammonds visited on Tuesday and part of Wednesday. We were talking about the structure of our school documents and quality learning expectations. It was an invigorating time for me and I look forward to a couple more days of work with Bruce next term.
The second educationalist to visit was Rei Hendry. Rei is an art advisor and was helping us to begin our Mt Bruce inspired BushScape paintings. She had plenty of ideas and suggestions for us including drawing with our finger first instead of just starting straight in with a crayon. We also learnt the difference between drawing which will become the base for a painting and drawing a drawing !
Thanks Rei - we look forward to working with you next term.

Most of the Room 5 bloggers have completed their blog set up and can now log in, and have written information about themselves.
Many have completed their first blogs ! Check the list on the left of the main St Matthew's page to find out who the bloggers are.
We have had a fabulous week in Room Five. We have discovered all about parallel and perpendicular and some people are now very confident at finding examples of these. Today everyone had an opportunity to use the camera to shoot a picture showing either parallel or perpendicular lines.
It was also very pleasing to see a huge improvement in our maths book work. Everyone used a ruler today !
At present we are studying the Olympic Games. Each child has chosen a sport to research as well as discovering some information about Olympism, Olympic History and mascots.
A huge thank you to Mrs Ann Brady who has been helping us with our art work over the last two weeks.

Take a look at these pictograms and find the sport you have chosen. One of your jobs is to design a new pictogram for the sport. Spend time watching the DVD and think about conveying movement in your pictogram.

Another term and another challenge. We said farewell to two great staff at the end of term and we managed to find one excellent replacement but not two ... so I am it !
I will be teaching in Room 5 for four days a week and after two days it has been fantastic !
Here we are on the mat working busily !
And here is Callum on the iMac beginning his blog.
If you are reading this you have found us already - hopefully by the end of this week most people will have a blog started and by the end of next week we may have found some rhythm with our blogging.

About the Blogger
I have been teaching now for 24 years and I am starting to get the hang of it. Working with kids is challenging and rewarding and being back in a class again is just great. I love running and geeking out on my macBook pro so I gues that makes me very balanced !
