Dear Third Grade Stars!

What an exciting week! Are you ready for your musical tonight? Are you ready for the Hawk Run? I know you will do great! I'm sorry I won't be able to be at the musical or the Hawk Run. I haven't been feeling very well this week, but I'll be coming to visit on Monday! I can't wait to hear about the musical! I also wonder who will win the Hawk Run! Remember to show self-control and try your best!

Here is a Thanksgiving math problem for you to solve!

Tommy the Turkey and his 4 other turkey friends have 24 feathers in all. Each turkey has the same number of feathers. How many feathers does each turkey have?

Hope you can solve it!

Write me a Letter!

Hi Third Graders,

Today is a beautiful Fall day. I hope you take time to enjoy it!

Well, I'll be returning to the classroom in 2 and 1/2 weeks and I'd like to know what you've been learning about while I've been gone! Could you please write me a letter telling me all about what you've learned? You can tell me about the stories you've read in Reading, or the lessons you've learned in Math, Science, and Social Studies! Remember to write in complete sentences!

See ya soon!

How many apples?

Article posted November 3, 2009 at 05:03 PM GMT0 • comment (7) • Reads 108

Hi Kids!

You all did great solving yesterday's math problem! Remember, that multiplication is just a faster way to add!

Here is today's problem:

9 students went apple picking last week. Each student collected 4 apples each. How many apples did they collect?

Also, I thought you might like to play a game to practice your addition facts. Click on the link and scroll down until you see the Candy Corn Memory game. Play as a team on the Smart Board! This game should only be played by students who have proven that they are responsible and respectful third graders!

Sincerely, Mrs. M and Patrick!

Hey There Third Graders!

Isn't it a gorgeous Fall day outside today? I hope you enjoy the weather before it starts to get cold again!

Today I have a problem for you to solve! Mrs. Seipp told me you are learning how to multiply! Can you use what you know to solve this problem?

Mrs. McKelvey had 5 groups of trick-or-treaters come to her house. There were 3 kids in each group. How many trick-or-treaters were there in all?

If you need to draw pictures or use counters, you may!

Have a fabulous day!!

Sincerely, Mrs. McKelvey and Patrick

Hello Boys and Girls,

How are you? I enjoyed seeing some of you last week at Parent - Teacher Conferences. It has been a long time since I saw you all, but I am excited to start communicating with you through this classroom BLOG. Do you know what a BLOG is? It is a webpage through which we can communicate and share our thoughts and ideas! For the next 4 weeks, I will be sharing my thoughts with you on this webpage. I might even ask you to complete a few assignments for me before I return to school.

Patrick and I are doing very well. He is growing bigger everyday!

Sincerely, Mrs. McKelvey

Good Morning, Third Graders!

Today is Monday, May 11th, 2009. It is an Orange Day and you will go to P.E. This week, you will continue to work on your State projects. If you are working on creating your map, don't forget to add color and pictures! Make it look beautiful! When you have finished with the map, you will need to write at least two paragraphs about your state. This week,  we will also work on Book Commercials. You need to finish writing your persuasive essay about the book. Then, you will need to find pictures for Photo Story 3. Have a great day and work hard!

Remember, post a comment to the blog about your state. What really cool fact did you find out about your state?
