 The Sun It gives heat and light to Earth. Plants need light to grow. Light acts with water and carbon dioxide in a plant to make its food. People use the sun's energy to make electricity. Special solar panels are used to convert (change) the sun's energy into electricity. Some examples are solar calculators and solar powered torches.
