The Phoenix lived for 500 years. They made a nest from twigs. They lived in Eygpt. When they were about to die they would fly to Phoenicia.

“Please, please, please Mum. Please can I have one? But Mum why not?”
One day last term I was begging my Mum to get me a lamb but it was no use. Mum said it was because we were going to Fiji. It was okay because we didn’t have to feed it. It was my first year not having a pet. What was even worse was we didn’t have Flower Day. So to my sayings, it was my worst year I ever had!

Monty

Monty is Room 3’s 13 year old mascot. His full name is Montgomery Maxwell Mouse. He smells like he’s been locked up in a cupboard for over ten years. He is so fuzzy and his nose is like a short yellow cucumber with a round black grape on the end. Under his nose is a happy smile and inside that happy smile are two tiny white shiny teeth. Monty’s ears are like golden dried apricots. His body is like a round caramel slice. His arms are like big fat caterpillars. Monty’s legs and feet are like pots. His legs are the handles and his feet are the pots.

Kangaroos

Article posted September 2, 2008 at 11:31 PM GMT0 • comment (3) • Reads 364

Kangaroos live in Australia. They are a marsupial. A marsupial is an animal that lives in its mother’s pouch. A baby kangaroo is called a Joey. When the Joey is born it crawls into its mother’s pouch and finds its milk. It will stay in its mother’s pouch for six months.
The fully grown kangaroos have strong legs and long tails. They can smell, see and hear really well. When they are eating grass they can’t see danger coming such as a dingo. So they stay in mobs so they are safe. Sometimes they rest in the sun or keep cool under the trees. They eat late at night, at night or early in the morning.
There is a boss of the mob. If another kangaroo tries to take over they will have a fight.

Fire safety show !!!

Article posted July 3, 2008 at 09:40 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 507

One, nose, one, nose, one. Why can’t we do it really fast?
On Friday we watched a puppet show and a boy called Nathan was in his room trying to light paper with a magnifying glass and of course it took a long time so he decided to go and get his Dad’s barbecue lighter and use that. But when the paper caught fire his curtains caught fire too. Then the curtains got burnt so Nathan ran out the door and shut it when he went out. He hid behind the back door and closed his eyes hoping it would go out but it didn’t and the house caught fire. But Nathan didn’t go outside. He got smoke in his lungs and had to go to hospital. Then a firefighter called Kevin came and asked him if he knew how the fire started. He even went up to assembly and admitted he did it to warn them to not play with fire lighters.
Then we talked about safety rules and Mana and Annalise were volunteers to be blind folded. They had to pretend they were asleep on a stool and Dean was going to make the fire alarm go off by pushing a button. Then Mana who went first got off the stool and walked which he should have crawled to the door. We went out the door and didn’t shut or feel it before he went out. Annalise crawled to the door, opened it not feeling it and shut it.
A saying was – Drop to the floor, Crawl to the door. If you feel the door and it was cool you could open it but if it was hot you could go through the window. If you’re on fire Stop, Drop and Roll. Cover your face when you roll and have straight legs. After that he told us about a lady that her stove caught on fire and she went to get her fire extinguisher but one didn’t work because it had to be recharged because it had no gas that makes the fire go out. They were both the same weight because the gas weighed nothing. At the end our class stood up and some of us went out and some of us were on our way out but we stopped by the puppets and studied them.

Article posted June 22, 2008 at 11:29 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 446

On Friday the 20th of June 2008 I went to Rosa's party she was turning 9. My friends: Annalise, Riana, Kayla, Hayley, Kate, Olivia, Shanae, Rosa and me. We had heaps of sweets and coke!!! We played treasure hunt, musical statues, pass the parsel and one of the games I'm not that sure what it's called but you are blind folded and you hang up a chocolate fish and eat it without using your hands. We walked from school to her house. It was fun.
