In the year 2000 leaders from around the world came together to set Millennium Development Goals for the world to try and meet by the year 2015.These goals had to do with health, financial positions, and living conditions. They came up with a total of eight goals for the world to meet, we only have 4 years left, can we meet these goals?
These goals are:
1. End poverty and hunger
2. Improve Universal Education
3.Promote Gender Equality
4. Child Health
5. Maternal Health
6. Combat HIV/Aids
7.Environmental Sustainability
8. Global Partnership
These goals may seem impossible to reach, but together we can do it. Some schools have already started trying to meet these goals by starting projects to "inspire students to learn about international humanitarian issues, empower students to take action for international causes, and connect students and educators to a network of other schools committed to thinking critically and exploring new perspective on global issues." (Quoted from www.concerusa.com; link above.) If we all come together, we can make a difference.
