Our class got an energy conservation kit and is learning some ways to save energy. I learned how to get your bath water out warm and not waste water. One thing that wasn't good I learned about was that by the time we are our grandparents age we will run out of fossil fuels. Our class learned that burning coal was more than half% of the electricty provided is from burning coal. Not only our class was change and going green, but also our families. My famly changed its ways by thinkenergy.org/states/penn/index.htmlchanging the ways we use natural resources. We did this by having limits on the water and elecricity in our house and we aren't the only ones too you can do it to. To learn more about saving energy go to thinkenergy.org/states/penn/index.html.

TK -- Energy Conservation

Article posted January 9, 2012 at 02:08 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 1119

Energy Conservation is very important to our lifes because one day we will run out of all our nonrenewable resources.  I learned that we need to use less energy  and one way is to help save energy is to switch to cfls lightbulbs and to not use regular lightbulbs.  Also we can switch our showerheads and faucets to the ppnl kind to save water. In the ppnl kit I learned that we should use less water while taking a shower so we got the timer and now my family uses the timer and takes less time in the shower.  PPNL has this kind of washer and dryer and it measures how much laundry you have and tell you how much water you need. My family's timer helps my family because it helps us save water and now my mom can time us. To get more information go to Save Energy.

Here is my paragraph about the energy conservation project. I learned that water is a source of energy. I learned that hot water costs more than cold water. You should be in the shower no longer than 5 minutes. The showerhead will conserved water in my house. If you need more information click here.                                                                                                                               Image Image Credit

JZ -- Energy Efficiency

Article posted December 19, 2011 at 02:15 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 1201

Recently our class did a PPL energy efficient project. We got energy kits and in them we got new shower and sink aerators. We also got a water thermometer, nightlight, and a shower timer. I learned that if the world keeps using energy as it does, soon we will be surrounded with garbage and toxic fumes. We will also have no fossil fuels left to use in the years to come. I also learned that 97% of our world's water is undrinkable and most of our fresh water comes from icecaps. I learned that if we all only take 5 minute showers we could save up to 100,000 gallons of water each year! To save some energy my family takes 5 minute showers and we don't leave lights on in rooms that we are not using.

BF -- Energy Conservation

Article posted December 19, 2011 at 01:34 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 1119

This year my family and I did a PPL project on how to conserve energy.  It was kind of fun, except it was a lot of work.  Three things I learned from this kit were that energy is important, you need to conserve energy for the future, and that we cannot be wasteful with energy.  The project taught me a lot about energy.  It comes with a new showerhead, a new faucit, two CFL bulbs, and a booklet on conserving energy.  Now my family are conserving energy all over my home.  All schools should try this because it can change the world!

I learned that one CFL bulb lasts as long as ten normal bulbs. I also learned that you can't throw a CFL bulb in the trash, you need to take it to a store that sells them. Another thing I learned was that if we keep using energy the way we are using it today we will run out of fuel in a couple of years. To save energy my family takes five minute showers. My family saves energy by turning off lights in the room when they aren't in it. I save energy by turning off the TV when I am not using it.

GZ -- How I Use Less Energy

Article posted December 19, 2011 at 01:33 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 1258

I learned that CFL lightbulbs use less energy than a regular lightbulb. We put the CFL lightbulbs in our living room and in all our outside lights. My family uses the CFL bulbs more now that we learned that they use less energy. We already had something on our shower head and kitchen sink faucet that reduced that made less water come out. We used used what came in the PPL kit http://thinkenergy.org/states/penn/index.html on those faucets and found out those saved the same amout of water as what we already have. We also put the timer in the shower and found out everyone in my family takes showers longer than five minutes.

At my school we did a PPL kit and I would like to share some information with you. The PPL Energy kit trys to get you to not to use alot of fossil fuels as you use on a regular basis. Here are some things I used in the kit. I got two faucets,a timer,a measuring bag, a thermometer, and a limelight. These will help save energy  around my house and save the earth. When you turn on a light you are using energy (fossil fuel). A fossil fuel is a substance you get just by burning a fossil  that came from a animal that died and the bones were left.  If we use our energy wisely we will have more fossil fuels to use for the furture generations.  Since we use so much energy in one day, we should cut down on energy because we are running out of fossil fuels and they take a very long time to develop in a coal form . That is why people are trying not to keep water running or keeping lights on when they are not using these things. If you help out just a little you can help change the world. We can conserve energy by updating our light bulbs and our faucet fixtures. Also using the lime lights only costs a few cents a year.

The things I learned was saving enregy is like saving your air.By using these tools in the kit your saving fossil fuels and energy . I really enjoyed this kit.

MV -- Pll Kit tools that helped me

Article posted January 9, 2012 at 02:17 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 1079

In the ppl kit you would get a fauct, night light, and a cfl bulb. With fauct you would get little handle on it, one the is up it goes faster. When handle is down it goes slower. The night light would only cost 00.3cents a year. Cfl bulb uses less energy than a regular bulb. All these things help my family save money.

Our family used an energy conservation kit to help us save energy. By using this energy conservation kit we learned that we are now saving more water by using the shower head from the kit. We also learned that we are saving a lot more electricity by using the CFL lightbulbs. We are also using the limelight nightlight that uses less energy than a regular nightlight. One way our family is putting energy conservation into practice is we are saving a lot more water, electricity, and money. Now that my family is using the energy conservation kit we are saving more energy.

JT -- How I Conserved Energy with PPL

Article posted December 19, 2011 at 01:33 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 1121

My class did a project to conserve energy with PPL. I learned to recycle more, turn off lights, and take showers in less time. The project came with a conserve energy kit that my family uses. The kit helps my family use less energy than we need. We use sunlight instead of electricity. PPL helped my family save energy. To get more information go to Think Energy .

I learned a lot from the PPL project we did at school.  I learned about saving water, natural gas, and other resources. It taught me to take shorter showers and only use the light when I need it.  The limelight only costs three cents a year.  The shower head and the sink airator both use less water.  The PPL project taught me what I have to do to conserve.

I learend that you waste 10+ gallons when takeing a shower of 5+ minutes. Solar energy can save you more money than you think I learned too. I also learned that the CFL bulbs run 10 times longer than normal light bulbs. One way our family is useing our Energy Conservation Kit is by timing us five minutes in the shower. Saving energy is very important to saving money. If you want to learn more about our Energy Conservation Kit click below

AW -- Tips on Energy Saving Faucets

Article posted January 9, 2012 at 01:31 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 1112

By using energy conservation I learnd how to use less water, save energy and money and be more environmental friendly. My family has made the decision to use the energy saving faucet. When I measured my water usage with our old faucet, we used 1 pound of water a day. In changing the faucet I was able to use less water. With using the new faucet our water bill went down. I learned that it takes little changes to make a big difference in our environment.  I was able to learn about energy conservation through Think! Energy with ePower.

I learned these three things by using the energy conservation kit. CFL lightbulbs save more energy. Normal lightbulbs take up more energy. The kit's showerhead saved more water than the regular showerhead. Normal showerheads  take gallons of water. Water bills will rise. The shower timer helps save water. Our family is very careful to turn off all lights when we are not in the room.
